Sparks. Both intensity and of desires— erupted in her heart.
Her skin burned under his touch. This feeling she got when their skins came in a contact steeled her spine. Skipped her heart beats. And turned her knees to mush. It was unimaginably shivering yet desiring.
Emily hated the feeling. Hence she made sure they never touch each other in these seven months after he came to their lives as Sinjin's mate.
His touch did something her which it should not do.
Her throat dried and tongue became hard in need of moisture as she turned around. His smoky greys stared right into her eyes as he thinned his lips in a line of disappointment. And before Emily said anything to free her wrist, she heard his husky voice say,
"You don't like me, do you?"
More discomfort. In loads. In tons. It quintals... Weighed down her chest.
Emily tried to shake her head and answered, she couldn't make herself move an inch. He has caught her frozen like a sculpture under his eyes.
"Jayden, let her go." Thanks to Sinjin that she came forward and removed his scorching hold from her wrist.
Emily took a breath and moved backwards. She stared at her hand and bit her mouth. His fingers have imprinted her skin red.
"Do I look so bad that she has to freak out and go out of breath?" He asked Sinjin while it was Emily whose jaw dropped.
He noticed it. He noticed it all.
Sinjin threw a watchful gaze at her friend and sighed. "It's not because of that, Jayden. You know she is shy. She freaks out because you're an upper class wolf. We omegas fear all the upper class wolves since you all are spooky."
"Spooky and I? Seriously, babe. That's how you look at me? A spooky guy." They were back to being a sweet couple while Emily continued to glare at the ground.
She was not afraid of him. In fact, he was the sweetest and kindest upper class wolf she ever met. It was her stupid feelings that made her avoid him. He not only affected her but also made her feel conscious about herself.
She was not a normal girl to be crushing over him like other females in the campus. She was the friend to his mate.... So one can see that things were more complicated for her.
"Yes, Jayden Harris. Considering the class you come from, you are spooky." Sinjin said.
Jayden was about to answer back when the final bell rang. Emily who had been a silent spectator till now heaved and closed her eyes. Relief rushed through her spine and she lifted her eyes to Sinjin, asking her to move.
"Okay then, we'll continue talking afterwards. Let us go now." Sinjin stroked her boyfriend on the jaw before she walked away from him.
As the girls hit their feet ahead, Jayden joined Emily's side and held her hand again. Giving it a light squeeze to bother her, he winked at her as he shouted, "Happy birthday, shy kitty!"
Sinjin chortled at his behaviour because then he took his heels, out running them and entering inside the school building in an abnormal speed. The girls stared at him before they shared a laugh. Sinjin laughing her heart out while Emily a suppress and nervous one.
Emily was glad that her friend didn't ask why she always became uncomfortable around her mate. She was aware of Emily's strict parents and also her fear towards the upper class. That's why she never asked Emily about her increased heart beats or her lack of respiration providing that she thought she knew the answer to it. Only.... If she knew what that supposed to mean, she would have sought to keep distance from Emily. Because— her best friend was having an inevitably strong crush on her alpha mate!
Anyways, the girls long forgot what transpired on the ground outside school gate. They moved ahead in zeal towards the class as they slowly whispered about Emily unfounded mate.
They shared small mirthful laughs as they discussed going to the canteen post lecture and waiting for Emily's wolf to come to life so that they can find her mate.
"I am so excited for you, Emy. Once you have your mate, we will go on couple dates together. Jayden and I, and you and your mate. It will be fun." Emily's cheeks reddened, she was more excited than her friend.
Mate... Is not just a person you spend your entire life with. A mate is someone who bring out your confidence, takes your back, stands as a shield covering you from harsh storms, and loving you unconditionally when you need it.
Having come from a family that always reminded her she was not their blood but forcibly imposed on them, love held a significant part in her life. Ever since Emily started perceiving life and its games, all she wished was to get a family who would call her important. A family who would count her vote in important famik matters unlike her current family.
She always prayed to the moon goddess to assign her a mate who would not just love her selflessly but also give her a family she fascinated to live in.
"I can't wait to meet my mate, Sinjin." They were in the corridor leading to their first class, Geography, when Emily communicated her feelings to her friend.
"I want someone as lovely as Ja—"
'Emily? Emily can you hear me?' A voice interrupted her. It was ringing in her head.
Emily's legs paused, eyes stared nowhere in the mid air as she concentrated on that voice, 'Emily it's me, your wolf, Amelia.'
That very sentence and Emily closed her eyes, "My wolf?" Taking Sinjn off guard.
"Your wolf? Can she talk to you? What's her name? Ask her to smell your mate, Emily? Be quick. I want to know more... Oh god, I am so curious!" Sinjin's features became more animated as she put both her fisted hands under her chin and nodded her head delightfully.
"Her name is Amelia." Emily replied her and got herself pulled into a hug.
The last warning bell rung making the students who were yet to head to their classrooms rush hastily. But our girls, nevertheless, remained standing in their spots since Amelia communicated something that drained Emily's facial colour.
'Emily, I can smell our mate. He is around.'
Emily grew conscious about her surroundings. She looked here and there while a confused yet excited Sinjin followed her gaze wherever she looked.
"Sinjin, I guess my mate is around. I need to go look for him." With a hesitant voice Emily announced.
Don't know why but she was suddenly feeling restless.
"I'll come with you, Emy. I want to see him too." Sinjin said but Emily shook her head in a no.
"The professor is going to give important notes today. One of us needs to attend the lec, Sinjin. Please go."
"But—"
"I will introduce you to him right after the lecture gets over. For now, please go."
After refusing many times Sinjin ultimately agreed to go to the class while Emily headed herself to follow the scent. It was coming from the parking lot that was behind the school.
Only the upper class students utilised this region as it was them who had cars. The middle class students used bicycles or motor bikes those had a parking area towards the extreme left of the parking lot. Emily was amazed since the smell was lingering somewhere around the expensive shining cars.
"Where is he, Amelia? I can't find him."
'Go left, I can smell him there.'
Emily followed her command.
She crossed two Mercedes than a Volkswagen, halting right across from a Jaguar— where a tall guy stood with his back resting outside the driver's side against the car.
"I was waiting for you." He said, his profile look making Emily suck a hard breath.
She took her step backwards, her head shaking in a vigorous no until her body hit a car.
"A-Adam, y-you can't b-be my ma-te!" She stuttered, shutting her eyes tight.
He was Jayden's step elder brother, and alpha's illegitimate son— Adam Harris.
