Amber looked at her ringing phone. She didn't want to speak to anyone. Yesterday after Alice and Diane left, she'd turned off her phone and spent the day reading in front of the fire. She knew Mya and Ash could handle whatever had to be done. And she needed time to think and compose herself. She made herself a cup of coffee and went out on her back porch. She sat down on the steps and looked out over the mountain. An eagle was soaring lazily, waiting for unsuspecting prey to come out. Her phone rang again in the kitchen and sighing she stood to fetch it. She swiveled around in surprise when someone came around the side of her house. "Lucy?" Amber asked in surprise. The woman pointed the cell phone in her hand at Amber. "I was worried, you didn't answer. I tried to call yesterday too."
