Chapter 5: Following instincts

1814 Words
-Blanche-    “What are you doing up at this hour?” I asked Morgana, gladly surprised.   She welcomed me despite the hour. I had arrived at dawn at my coven.   “What are you doing here?” She interrogated me instead. “Something happened?”   Even though Circe, Blair, and I are part of this coven of witches, only Morgana stays permanently. She is our leader and the mentor for new witches and apprentices. She takes care of the young ones who want to join our house, learn how to be a witch, or just find solace here. Some even work for our wine company.   "A lot… but I guess it will be better to talk in the morning. I am dead! And I need the strength before going to Witchy Witch tomorrow."   “Are you going to visit Kassandra?” She knows that is the only reason for which I would go to that company. My grandmother is never at her penthouse downtown.   “Yes… I do not have the strength to explain anything now. I need to sleep.” And a cold shower before going to bed because those fierce green eyes of the Lycan still hunt my thoughts and emotions.   Morgana nodded at me, and I took a step towards the big stair followed by her when a young human appeared in front of us.   “Witch mother!” She screamed. Her long black curls swayed from one side to another while passing me to embrace Morgana hiding her face in her chest.   “I had a bad dream!” The young one tried to sound frightened.   I tilted my head. A new apprentice, I see.   Morgana and I interchanged a look. We both know that the young one only wanted a reason to hug her, to be close to her. Still, Morgana petted her hair and back, consoling her.   “I cannot believe this!” Paige screamed from upstairs. She walked down every step of the stair with a long face while her wolf tried to take control of her body.   Why is everyone up? I still need some sleep to catch up… Wait, this scene might be more interesting than sleeping.   "Why do you keep hugging her?" Paige was red with her fists on her hips looking angry at the scene in front of her without minding I was there.   Oh! Jealousy! Werewolves are possessive. I want to go to bed, but I will never turn down a good show.   "We have talked about this, Paige," Morgana said to Paige, warningly, before releasing the girl and clean the fake tears from her face. "Are you feeling better, young one?" She asked her, concerned.   The little fake one nodded at her. She is not evil; it is just that she cannot help herself right now. I have seen this before, a crush on someone with authority in the coven. Besides, Morgana is Morgana. Not even a stuck-up shewolf like Paige could resist her.   “Go to the kitchen, Luz. Drink some warm milk; it will help you sleep,” Morgana told the girl lifting her chin, truly worried about her.   “Can you come with me?” Luz asked with hope in her voice and shining eyes.   Morgana looked at me, and I tilted my head again, narrowing my eyes at her. There is a brief smile on my lips. Paige was barely holding her wolf inside. This can get ugly any minute if the shewolf gets out.   I am not worried about it. And my friend knows that I am enjoying the show. This is what I call entertainment!   “Greet your elder, Luz. This is Blanche, one of the founders of this coven.” Morgana pointed in my direction.   The young one turned around and saw me.   My smile grew bigger.   The girl had adorable dimples and a baby face. There written all over her possessive cute face was a big crush on Morgana.   "Oh! Nice to meet you, Blanche. I am Luz. Mother witch has told me so much about you and your skills. I look forward to learning from you,” Smart brat. She knows how to kiss ass. Hahaha... We are old witches; we do not take bullshit. It might look like do, but we know better.   “Nice to meet you, Luz. And I am sorry I will not stay for long to teach you, but the others sure will do a better job than me. There is plenty to learn here.”   Morgana, Circe, Blair, and I used to teach, train others. We drop it, but Morgana still cares to form others despite running our wine business. That is why she accepts young ones in our coven and forces some of us to come and dictate some classes, besides sending them to a local school when needed.   “You are dismissed, Luz. Do as I have told you.” Luz was about to complain when Morgana added, “I will go. In a bit.” The girl smiled victorious and joyful to Morgana without looking at all to Paige, who was fuming.   I am impressed, the shewolf took the situation without hurting Luz. I will ask Morgana about this young one’s story, tomorrow… Maybe.   “Paige, are you not going to greet Blanche.” Morgana approached Paige without touching her. “Or do I have to treat you like a daughter, too?”   Considering her facial expression, Paige was going to answer back something rude, I am sure of it. However, Morgana got closer to her and whispered something in her ear before Paige could say something.   I did not know Paige could get even redder, but her expression softened. A knowing crooked smile of Morgana told me I did not want to know more.   “Hi, Blanche.” Paige greeted me with a smile, almost out of air.   “Good to see you here, Paige.”   Morgana placed an arm around the shoulders of the shewolf, and Paige melted.   “I see you are doing great here… But I am tired. I will just use my room upstairs, girls.”   We waved goodbye and, when I glanced down, I saw Morgana kissing Paige. Then she took her hand and pulled her to the kitchen where Luz was already waiting.   I should learn more from Morgana. A jealous werewolf is hard to manage, even more, if you are not the fated mate because only a fated mate can soothe their animal side. It is the same thing with Lycans when they find you compatible.   The image of the hot Lycan got back in my head. s**t! I need another cold shower.   He was still engraved in my mind. The Lycan was wearing a black mask that highlighted his green eyes... Emeralds under the white light of the Club. His hair was dark as his demeanor and his intentions when he walked towards me. He looked the way a predator does... was I the gazelle waiting to be devoured by the lion? s**t! I shivered at the memory, and again… it was not out of fear.   The white shirt he was wearing made him yummier. He has this amazing body with muscles in the right places, strong arms, big hands, and a broad chest… a thin waist. Just the kind of male I like.   I did not see his face due to the mask, but I noticed his shaved, masculine, strong jaw… Wild fantasies invaded my thoughts thinking about that face.   Bad Blanche, bad Blanche!   The cold shower is a must. Damn! Second shower in the last few hours. I have never needed so many before.   Why did I run away from the stud? It was not only my promise to Flora. I was afraid of the intensity of his eyes. His determination.   He stopped when I smiled at him, and that gave me the second I needed to realize I had to run. The Lycan tried to grab me. But I managed to escape from him. I even had to use the emergency exit of the Club and my last bubble to remove my scent.   I can buy more of those things here but need improvement despite their cost. Those shits are expensive and are sold only in the Magic Kingdom. Still, personalization of the bubbles requires time for them to work properly.   I was right about taking measures. He followed me after I left him in the middle of the dance floor.   I do not need more trouble right now. I have made my mind; I still need time away from males. Werewolves and Lycans are like dogs tracking scents and people, and they can develop obsessions... fast.   My instinct told me to run from him. And something a good witch will always listen to is her instinct. I was stubborn when younger, and I had to learn it the hard way. Always listen to your instinct.   The Lycan was not going to give up, and he had others with him. I am not sure to understand his persistence, but I walked into a dark alley a few blocks away from the Club. I used the candy that Elias gave me for emergencies.   I focused on my hotel suite in town when I chewed it, and I showed where I wanted to be. Naked. It was not a great distance from where I was, so the portal worked.   In a way, it can be said that Elias saved me this time. Although I will miss my belongings.   Perhaps, Flora could pick my stuff from that ally. Or not… There was nothing of importance there. My phone! Mmm... It does not matter. I prefer to change even the number; I do not want to see messages from Leon.   I went to bed in the hotel, but the feeling of been hunted remains. I could not sleep, and I thought it would be better to go to my coven immediately. Again, my instinct was telling me to do something. Run.   I knew Morgana was back in the house with her new girlfriend, Paige. I knew they were together when they left the territory of werewolves.   Silly Morgana. Paige is a werewolf. Werewolves have mates... she will find hers eventually. But who am I to say something? I almost lose myself falling for a stupid Lycan.   Whatever… I need a good sleep. It will be a long exhausting day at Witchy Witch, and Elias will not be there to help me.   Elias… the one I once thought was my Charming Prince but ended up being another sad disappointment.   The memories of my story with Elias came to me, but I pushed them away.   I need my rest. I must be too ready to face my grandmother... The evil witch of the East.
