Chapter Twenty-One

" Fears are nothing but a state of mind... " -unknown THIRD PERSON (For a better experience) Heels clicked on the floor, their sound capturing the attention of most students as they were on their journey to class. Her presence was noticed by most, her appearance enviable and her aura intimidating. A purse hung on her arm, with a smile edged onto her face as she was in the most pleasant of moods. Today was the day. Today was the day she'd get Killian and make him all hers. Today was Lyn's day. Her steps slowed, her main purpose was to find Killian but as she began to peer at the school walls, her heart almost constricted. Her eyes narrowed and she ripped off one out of the multiple photos on the wall with her perfectly manicured nails. She gripped the picture harshly, her brown eyes taking in the scene. It was the picture of Killian and Finnick in the intimate position of Finnick in Killians arms, sharing a kiss that the innocent Finnick had initiated. It was the one taken on their date night, the one that was littered all over the entire school. Though it was days later since the incident and there weren't as many pictures up, Lyn hadn't been in school for the past few days up until this moment. She scowled at the disgusting picture and crushed the paper within in her hands before she tossed it onto the floor. Ragging, her previous calm demeanor shattered as her mind swarmed with all kinds of thoughts. Why the hell was this queer shoving himself onto Killian, a perfectly straight guy? This useless boy had walked up into this school and in minutes things were slipping out of Lyn's hands. This could not be happening. She would not allow this to happen. Not only was her stupid brother friends with this kid but the man who was meant to be hers also seemed to be getting swept by whatever charms the boy was putting onto him. Lyn mad her decision quick as she tucked her brunette hair behind her ears and walked her way to her purple locker that she had customized to suit her taste. She opened the compartment and slammed her Saint Lauren hand held purse inside carelessly before she slammed it closed. Running a hand through her hair, she would make it so that Finnick would regret ever intruding in what Killian and her had. She wouldn't let Killian go, not after the moments they'd shared long ago. Lyn clenched her fist, they had something back then and they would have something now. A friend ran over to Lyn as she began walking to her class, her friend was completely breathless. She actually hated her but she wouldn't act on her dislike for her. Quite frankly, Lyn didn't like anyone but it was always good to keep people by her side in case she had some use for them. Friends were only good to be used and like an old pair of shoes, tossed away when they became useless. "Lyn! You will not believe what Oliver told me he saw," the girl began without greetings as per usual. Lyn recalled the name she spoke of and mentally rolled her eyes. The boy was completely useless in doing her bidding to beating the sense into Finnick. She simply had to pay the boy and his two friends to bash Finnick a bit but they ended up nearly getting themselves killed instead. Lyn wondered herself how they ended up like that but lacked remorse to care that one of them was, in fact, still in the hospital in a coma. It wasn't her business. "And what did Oliver see?" Lyn entertained the girl despite the fact that she didn't care one bit of what she was actually telling her. "He said he saw an animal in the back of the school, he thought it was a bear but didn't get a good look. Omg, Lyn are we going to die? Like I just can't, like, even imagine it. Like it's so like—" After the third, 'like,' that the annoying girl said, Lyn tuned her out as she began to think. Animal? What a shame it would be if Finnick happened to get hurt in such an animal attack. Then Lyn shrugged, not like she would actually be able to get him to go back out there. "—like seriously, Lyn. Should we like skip school and like go get some ice cream like I'm so like scared because like—" "I got it now shut up," Lyn snapped and left the girl who clamped her mouth shut. Lyn tried to hold her tongue so she could use the girl later but she just couldn't take it anymore, the girl was so annoying. Her heels clicked against the floor, the sound drifting to her ears as she walked. Her eyes took in the school as she made her way to her class that she would most likely ditch early despite there being almost maybe thirty minutes left. Her eyes caught the sight of a boy. That boy wasn't just any boy, that boy was Finnick. A smirk easily slid onto Lyn's face and that's when a skillful plan blossomed into her tainted brain. "Finnick!" Lyn called loudly. Lyn watched as the pale boy with circular lenses turned to her. It was so sad how she had to mess with such a seemingly innocent but horribly naive boy. She smiled at him, the false expression sliding easily onto her face as this was easy and usual to her. "Omg Finnick, I saw Killian looking for you outside," she pants with worry in her eyes, tricking the boy with every word. Lyn would tell the boy that Killian was outside looking for him therefore making him go to look for him without actual thought. By the time he may or may not realize that cell phones exists hopefully it'll be too late for him. Finnick's eyes display the inner turmoil he faces and Lyn knows inside no matter what, it would be easy to convince the guy. "W-who are y-you?" Finnick stutters. "Oh excuse me, I'm slow sometimes," she lets out a breath, "I'm Kai's sister, Lyn." His eyes widen, "Y-your his s-sister?" She scratches the back of her head sheepishly, smiling sadly and looking down. There's a hidden smirk underlying the sad expression. God, this was such a typical trick for her. "He doesn't exactly favor me no matter how much I try to get along with him," she says quietly, looking back up to meet his eyes. "You s-said Killian was l-looking for me?" He asked her. Bingo. He fell for it effortlessly, it was just a snap of her thin fingers and he was believing every one of her words. "Yeah he's outside, I think he thought you went into the forest and I'm just worried," she tucks a piece of her long brunette hair behind her ear as she looks at him. "Thank you," He says quickly. The boy smiles and Lyn easily smiles back but this smile was genuine. She was genuinely happy with what she had done and maybe just maybe she'd be able to get the pest out of the picture so all would be well with 'her' Killian. She continues on her way, now deciding that she didn't want to attend class because she was in too good of a mood. Spotting a vending machine, Lyn heads for it to grab a pack of Skittles. A grin is placed on her face as she sees that it's the last one, feeling lucky. She slips the bill into the machine and awaits her treat to fall. Someone suddenly bumps into her but it's very much on purpose. She scowls, regaining her footing and turning with angry eyes to see who did it. Her eyes show her surprise as she sees Declan, a friend of Killian and an equally hot guy that she would no doubt want to get into his pants as-well. Killian would always be her number one but a taste of Declan is too hard to pass by. The taller male, much more easier to talk to than Killian, bends and snatched up the candy that had fallen. He rips it open, popping a few into his mouth before turning to face Lyn. She smiles up at him, seduction lying in her eyes as she looks at him. Declan, unfazed by her gaze, continues to eat the candy but he halts in popping the green flavor into his mouth. His nose twitches and he takes a step closer to her. A satisfied smirks comes onto Lyn's face as she sees him get close to her. His nose brushes her neck and Lyn shivers, clutching onto his shirt. Declan brings his head up and there's a scowl on his face, a look Lyn doesn't catch as she leans up to kiss him. Declan noticing this, rips her hands from his clothes and pushes her face away from him. He takes a step back, his brows furrowed. "We can get a room in a closet," Lyn says seductively, ignoring being pushed away previously. Declan shudders in disgust, wondering why the hell he used to think females were attractive. Ever since Kai, that's all and who Declan was all about so seeing this disgusting version of Kai try to get at him was repulsive to him. He would've found her attractive once a long time ago but now one thing was on his mind. Lyn smelled like Finnick and Declan caught that. Declan was fully aware of how scheming the b***h was so catching his Lunas' scent on her set him off. 'Declan, something is wrong,' Declan heard his Alpha through mind link. He knew something was wrong so it didn't take long before he was stepping up to Lyn and glaring harshly. She was shocked completely and stepping backwards. "Where the hell is Finnick?" He growled. Lyn's eyebrows knitted together before fear left her altogether and anger was replaced. Finnick, Finnick, Finnick. It was all about f*****g Finnick and it pissed her off. Even Declan was asking about the boy. She was so damn fed up of it all that she wished the boy never existed in the first place. "I don't know," she smirked, trying to rile him up. Declan knew that she knew and Lyn knew that Declan knew that she knew where he was but just wasn't telling him on purpose. Deciding time was ticking, Declan caught the smell of Finnick in the air and decided to follow the trail, leaving the annoyed girl to b***h on her own without a care. Declan found himself in front of the school doors and his stomach fell. He smelt another wolf in the area but this wolf wasn't one of them. 's**t, Killian. Outside, he's outside and there's an unfamiliar wolf in the area,' Declan instantly told his Alpha. Declan caught the sound of a ragging growl and soon Killian appeared before him but he was running and rushing outside not sparing him a glance. He hoped that Killian would keep his cool but knew very well that he would shift. He just hoped that Finnick wouldn't witness the act of him shifting. His prayers didn't seem to be answered as he heard fighting growls in the air and soon enough Finnick entered the school with a guy Declan didn't recognize. The look on his Lunas' face was enough to give Declan an answer. He saw and he very much knew. "Finnick," Declan said, stopping the guy who had his hand around Finnick's wrist by approaching them. Declan glared at the contact but softened at the fear stricken look in Finnick'a eyes. It was the first time ever that Declan felt fear. Fear that his Luna wouldn't except them. Fear that Killian wouldn't have a mate to be by his side. Fear that Finnick would tell Kai and take his mate from him due to Kai being fearful. "Maybe we should take him to the nurse, we saw—" "Stop talking," Declan cut off the guy, his eyes solely on Finnicks'. Declan eyed the smaller boy, as if trying to decipher what his quiet Luna was thinking. Finnick was platonically quiet, unable to say anything or think of anything but there was fear in his eyes. Despite the overwhelming amount of fear, confusion and shock, Finnick looked up at Declan. "W-will Killian b-be okay?" The small boy stuttered out. Declan was shocked thoroughly knowing well that the human knew that he and Killian were in fact not human but were werewolves but was expressing such care for Killian warmed Declan. He couldn't believe his ears at all. Despite the fear and shock, due to the mate bond what Finnicks first initial reaction was, was to worry about Killian's wellbeing as he last saw him fighting a wolf. What came second was Finnicks true reaction which hadn't been reached yet due to him still being it blatant shock. "Killian wasn't out there?" The boy neither of them knew said in confusion. "Killian will be okay but Finnick are you okay?" Declan asked. Declan took a step towards Finnick but he flinched and took a step back, eyes wary. Expecting the action, Declan gave Finnick a gentle sad smile. "I'll try my best to get Killian to give you time but soon enough he will want to talk to you and explain everything to you. It will be a lot to take in but I beg of you—" Declan sounded sad for the first time ever and Finnick caught that and was surprise inside, "—don't run away and shut Killian out, it will kill him." Finnick still wasn't processing much but he nodded slowly. "And also, don't tell Kai. I promise I will tell him but I want to be the one to do it," Declan insisted. Again, Finnick nodded slowly. Declan released a sigh and turned to the boy he didn't know. "Who are you?" Declan asked the tall kid. "Nicolas," the kid told Declan, oblivious as to what the hell Finnick and Declan were talking about. Declan realized this must've been Nicolas Skies. "Get Kai and tell him to take Finnick home," Declan instructed. Unsure of why he was listening, Nicolas nodded and he was taking Finnick away on their search to find Kai. Killian entered the school panting with blood on him and Declan sighed as his Alpha eyes him in question.       This was going to be a lot.
