Chapter 7Living With Rejection-01
It's been two weeks since my birthday. Summer break had officially started, and I've now moved into the pack house. Lana stayed true to her word. She got me a room across from hers, and that's where I was now drowning in my sorrows.
The day after my birthday, I felt a wave of energy wash over me, and then I fainted. At first, we thought someone had cast a spell on me, but Lana couldn't find any evidence of foul play, and I didn't feel any different, so we just ignored it.
Also, remember when Harley told me that Noah would regret rejecting me? Yeah, well, she was wrong because he doesn't. Instead, he dedicated himself to tormenting me and sleeping with every girl he could find just to try and hurt my feelings. Sylvia had even forbidden him from seeing any other girl and tried to get him to take back his rejection, but I told her not to because I wanted nothing to do with him.
Dominic has moved into the pack house to be closer to me. He also made it clear that no matter what mom and dad, or rather Lara and Emerson as I was supposed to call them now, say, he's still my brother, and nothing would change that. I also found out that he practically disowned them and was currently giving them all the silent treatment and ignoring them. There was nothing worse that Dominic could do to you than ignore you. When he gives you the silent treatment, it drives you crazy because he's the type of person you just always want to talk to.
I was about to go down to the kitchen when a heart-wrenching pain shot through me. I didn't understand why I was feeling pain. After all, I did accept Noah's rejection.
After about an hour, the pain subsided to a dull ache, and I could move again. Changing out of my pj's, I threw on a Jean shorts, a black tee and my flip flops.
Making my way downstairs and out the front door, ignoring the whispers and laughter, I headed in the direction of the only elder in this whole pack that would talk to me, elder Norris. She's one of the oldest witches in the pack. She lives near the borders of our territory by herself. She had a son, but he died in the war, so now she's all alone.
I knocked on the cabin door twice before she answered. She had a surprised look when she saw it was me,
"Catty, long time no see. Come on in dear. I just put on a pot of tea," she said, inviting me inside.
"Thanks, I hope I'm not interrupting anything, I was hoping to ask you a question," I replied as I followed her to the living room.
"Oh no dear, I wasn't doing anything of importance, let me go get our tea then you can ask me your question," she said as I sat on a chair.
A few minutes later, she came back out with a tray filled with biscuits and cheese along with two cups of camomile tea.
"Ok dear, what is it that you wanted to ask me?" She questioned while placing the tea on the coffee table between two chairs, one of which I occupied.
Taking a sip of my tea, I said,
"Well I am sure you heard that I found my mate and that I was rejected and humiliated in front of the whole pack."
she had a sad look on her face as she said, "yes I heard, I am so sorry you had to go through that."
"It's ok, besides I'd rather be rejected and lonely for the rest of my life than be mated to Noah."
She simply nodded at me.
"What I wanted to ask you though was if a person is rejected and they accept the rejection, should they still feel the pain when their mate sleeps with someone else?"
She looked questioningly at me before saying,
"Well yes and no. You see, they will still feel pain but not as much as they would, if they didn't accept the rejection, it would be like a dull ache in the heart."
"Then why does it feel like a truck is running over me when Noah sleeps with someone," I asked frustratedly.
"What!!? You shouldn't be feeling that much pain." she said surprisingly.
"Yeah well, I feel it almost every day." I said.
"Unless-" she started.
"Unless what?" I asked.
"Give me your hand," she replied.
I stuck my hand out to her, and she placed it in hers as she used her other hand to draw circles in my palm while lowly chanting some incoherent words. She gasped and let go of my hand with a scared look on her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked, confused.
she sat there, trembling before she said,
"The first pain you felt was because Noah has now marked and mated another girl. But that isn't what is triggering your episodes as the marking of another has finally broken any trace of your bond."
I just shrugged, not really caring as I expected that from him.
"Also, someone placed a binding spell on you and a very old one at that. It seems to have been there since your birth. The problem is though whatever it is they were, binding is now freem, and it seems to be very dark angry and dangerous. so I'd be careful if I were you. Also, I would advise you not to tell anyone about this, because I don't know what they would do to you if they found out, and you need to learn how to harness and control this power, so it doesn't consume you, which it can easily. To put it simply, so you can understand the gravity of what I saw, there is a monster inside of you the likes of which I've never seen before."
"What!!! How can that be? I'm human." I said in disbelief.
"Based on what I've seen, you are anything but human," elder Norris replied.
I sat there frozen in my seat. Who could have cast a spell on me? I don't know anyone other than the people in the pack, and what could this monster be?
