Chapter 7: I know that scent

Blake's pov
I was in my office working.
Ever since I became King after my father’s death I hardly get time to rest.
The weird thing was I didn’t mind working at all, it has been a great distraction.
Ever since that night with Luna I can't get her out of my mind.
Everything about her just pulls me in.
That night I saw courage in her I didn’t know she had.
There was this fire in her eyes that I found alluring.
After that night I can't touch any other woman without thinking of her.
Every time when I look at their eyes I look for her in them.
Those innocent green eyes looking back at me with lust and desire.
I never knew that a woman would look sexy and adorable at the same time.
“Shouldn’t you be working my King?” said a voice at the door.
I didn’t have to look up to know who it is.
I know that voice.
I looked up and rolled my eyes when I saw the redhead standing there.
I went back to looking at the file that I was working on.
“That’s it? I don’t get hello Amber, nice to see you again?” Amber said.
I didn’t say anything, for once in my life I actually found her annoying.
“Blake? Wow now that you are King you think you are better than me?” she asked me.
I looked up and found her wearing a red dress.
She does that a lot.
She disappears without a word and shows up in a sexy dress to seduce me and get back in my bed.
I looked at her and realized that I didn’t like red anymore.
She must have seen the disinterest even as I looked at her because she looked at me surprised.
“What’s wrong Blake?” she asked me as she sat down on the chair opposite mine.
I didn’t know what to tell her.
“Nothing, you just don’t do it for me anymore,” I said.
She chuckled when I said that.
“Really and I am supposed to believe that?
We have known each other for a century, and I have been doing it for you for years…” she said, and I shook my head.
“It's been a decade, Amber a lot has changed,” I said to her.
The truth is it is only been 3 months since something inside me has changed.
Its amazing it? How you can spend centuries not changing at all.
But one moment, one small moment changes you completely.
“Really Blake? That’s low even for you. I know I disappeared longer this time, but I am back now,” she said and held my hand.
But then I moved it.
She looked at me hurt.
“What are you doing Amber?
The last time you came back here you wanted something,
What do you want now?” I asked her.
She seemed a little taken aback by my indifference.
But what did she expect?
I have changed because a lot has happened in my life.
I am not the same guy she was with 10 years ago I have changed.
I met girls like Taylor, who are intelligent, smart, and always have something to offer.
I met Luna, who is innocent and yet there is this confidence and bravery in her.
“Why are you smiling?” she asked me.
That’s when I realised that I had zoned out.
Really, all Amber has to offer is s*x and booze.
“Is this your way of trying to punish me for leaving without telling you?
I get the point. Can you please forgive me” Amber said, blinking her eyes repeatedly.
I think she was trying to be cute.
“I really couldn’t have cared less if you disappeared for a century. I am done with whatever it is we were doing.” I said to her.
Amber and I have known each other for a century.
Since then, we have had a mutual understanding.
As vampires, our s*x drive is high.
So, we agreed that we would be s****l partners nothing more.
We travelled the world together, meeting new people and having s*x, but now that life just seems disgusting to me.
I want something else.
I just don’t know what it is yet.
I want something to look forward to and not have some meaningless s*x with her.
“I am here. You are King now and every King needs a Queen.” she said.
I smiled when I realised that this is why she came back.
It was also the only reason she stuck around before.
Our parents wanted us to marry many times and I just kept refusing.
“That’s never going to happen.” I said, and she looked at me surprised.
“What?
Who else would you make Queen other than me?
I am the only girl who can stand by you and you know it.
I will be in my old room if you change your mind,” she said, and left.
Well, it’s a good thing I won’t change my mind.
Amber is a lot like my father.
They love power and war more than anyone I have ever met.
All the wars that my father started when he was King, she was there whispering things in his ear.
They got along very well because they are the same.
My father listened to every word she said.
I don’t want a Queen like that.
Someone who would start a war just because they are bored and don’t have anything to do.
I want a queen who will bring change.
Vampires are vicious creatures, and we need a kind and yet brave and powerful Queen to tame us.
As I was sitting there.
I got a call from Taylor asking if I could come as soon as I could.
I looked at my watch and realised that it was still early in the morning.
I could get there before dinner today and I will sleep there.
I need a change of scenery and it would be great to make fun of Taylor and her huge baby bump.
I got up and told Ross to prepare for my journey there.
Since Luna’s pack is near Ashtons I wondered if I will be able to see her by any chance.
Maybe if I saw her then this overwhelming urge to see her again would go away.
Maybe if I see her again and realise that she is just a normal girl.
Then I will be able to sleep with another woman.
I got ready and from the capital to where Taylor and Ashton live is about a 6-hour drive.
As I was driving I actually felt quite relieved to be out of that place.
The capital is so toxic that you can even feel it in the air.
There is always this dangerous aura around it like you aren’t safe.
I know that no one would dare to do anything to me.
Even if they tried they would fail.
But it still feels good to be outside where I don’t have to watch over my shoulder every two minutes.
I entered the pack territory and drove to the pack house.
I smiled when I found Taylor waiting for me outside with Ashton.
“ Well, look at you, you look so fat,” I said and burst out laughing.
She looked at me and frowned before hugging me.
“And look at you my King, you look terrible. It isn’t as glorious as you thought it would be, is it?” she asked me with a smirk, and I looked at her husband.
“You are married to a king, you can't laugh at me for that” I said, and she rolled her eyes.
“Watch me,” she said and took the plastic that I was holding and started taking what was inside.
“Ice cream,” she said with a huge smile when she saw the ice cream tub.
“Yes, I thought you would want some”, I said to her and she nodded, and we went inside.
She took a spoon as we were going to the office.
They were both acting really weirdly.
Like they were about to say something really important to me.
Taylor wouldn’t just call me out of the blue like this.
What could be so wrong that they would want to see me in person?
“What’s going on?” I asked them as we sat down.
Taylor looked at her husband before looking at me.
It’s like they didn’t know what to say or even where to start.
It takes a lot to make Taylor speechless.
“I cant explain it,” Taylor said, looking at Ashton.
I was about to say something to them when I caught a scent.
I stood up and looked at them.
“I know that scent,” I said, looking around the room.
I can't forget that scent ever.
The door opened and I turned around to find Luna standing there.
I looked at her face and I couldn’t stop myself from smiling just looking at her.
She looked so mature and beautiful.
Something else caught my attention as I looked at her.
I could hear her heart beating like crazy but there was something else.
I could hear two faint heartbeats coming from her.
I looked down and that’s when I saw it, the baby bump on her.
When she noticed that I saw her baby bump she smiled at me.
I walked closer to her and the closer I got I could hear their hearts beating and I couldn’t believe it.
“How is it possible?” I asked no one in particular.
“How is it possible that you are carrying my babies?” I said again.
