Luna's Second Chance Mate

Chapter 2

SAMANTHA

It's almost dawn and since I'm sure no one has woken up, I pack a few of my personal belongings and I walk out of the Pack House using the back door.

I have some money with me and since I'm not that hurt by Juan's rejection, I decide not to go rogue but head to the Sea Shore Pack where my brother lives with our auntie. I know that I'm always welcome there, therefore I don't need to consult before joining them.

My auntie, my mother's sister, Ashley is mated to the Beta of the Sea Shore Pack and they live in the Pack House together with the Alphas family. The last time I visited, they were all kind to me and I certainly hope that they'll all welcome me and accept me as one of their own.

'Do we have to leave Sam?' my wolf asks from my head.

'Yes, it's for the best. If we continue staying here, we might get hurt. This family is quite powerful, remember?'

She just whimpers lowly and keeps quiet and I assume that she has understood.

Well, due to the pain Juan experienced last night after I rejected him, he might decide to revenge on me and I'm not strong enough to defend myself since they all denied me the opportunity to continue training with the other girls my age. Being a slave ain't a walk in the park at all!

As I cross the Pack borders, I can feel the ties with the Pack breaking. My wolf whimpers yet again as the ties with the other maids and friends break away from me. I'm no longer one of them. Very soon, I'll belong to another Pack and all these will be behind me. I have no plans to come back and face Juan again. I don't want to be under the rule of a mate whom we've rejected each other.

After rejecting Juan back last night, my wolf didn't complain at all and I assumed that's what she wanted all along. She couldn't bare to stand and live with someone as disgusting as Juan.

Armed with red moon Pack's secrets, I walk to the subway and board a train to the Sea Shore Pack. I know it'll take me around six hours to reach there but I don't have a problem with that.

Since I don't have a mobile phone, I walk to a public booth to place a call to my aunt. I inform her that I am about to board a train and she assures me that I'll find someone at the train station already waiting for me. I'm glad she didn't turn me down!

The last time I visited my auntie in their Pack was way back when my parents were still alive. I have a little recollection of the Pack House but I'm sure I'll hack my way around there.

It has been six hours...six long hours of traveling and I heave a sigh of relief when the train finally reaches its final destination.

Clutching my bag which has my few treasured belongings, I climb out of the train, trudging behind other passengers and I'm surprised to see a cab driver holding a big board with my name on it.

I walk towards the guy and after introducing myself, he informs me that he has been sent by my aunt to pick me up.

I gladly hop into his car and after ensuring I am comfortable, he ignites the engine and drives off towards the Seashore Pack House.

My aunt Ashley, her husband Beta Cleophas, my brother Gary, their two children Brianna and Calvin and a few Pack House workers are already waiting for me at the Pack House's parking lot.

I am welcomed joyfully as my brother jumps onto me to hug me. It seems he really missed me just as I did.

My aunt too hugs me like her life depends on it while shedding tears of joy and exclaiming how big I have grown.

I'm led to their house which is still within the Pack house and I'm surprised to be met by some mouth watering varieties of cooked food on the dining room table.

All this while, Gary won't let go of my hand. He's still clinging on me, asking me why I finally decided to leave.

Well, I'm not yet ready to tell them anything and I assure him that I'll narrate everything to them immediately I relax.

Food and drinks are served by the Pack House chefs and we all eat happily as we catch up with each other. At least, I feel happy because I am amidst people who value me and I can express myself, chat and laugh as much as I want without worrying about being insulted or embarrassed, something which Juan was fond of doing. He always found pleasure in humiliating me!

After we're done eating, aunt Ashley shows me to my room as asks me to freshen up then rest for hours before dinner is served. Gary who wants to accompany me to my room is denied the opportunity by Beta Cleophas who explains to him that I had a long train drive to this place and all he can do is to let me rest before catching up later, something that he agrees to half heartedly. This brother of mine has never changed any bit....he doesn't want to leave my sight.

It doesn't take long after freshening up and climbing on my bed before some sweet sleep overtakes me.

To be sincere, the last time I slept like this was like six years ago when I was still living with my parents. There, I had my freedom as the princess but all that came to an abrupt stop when I joined Juan's Pack as their slave.

I used to sleep after everyone else slept and also woke up before everyone else did. In short, I was already used to sleeping for only five hours.

I wake up to the door being knocked. Someone is knocking it as well as calling out my name from outside. Sitting up on the bed, I rub my eyes so as to see clearly but I'm surprised to realise that it's already night time. Darkness has engulfed the whole room.

I stretch my hand and fumble with the bedside switch and I press it. The whole room comes back to life after being well lit and I assure my brother who's still knocking and calling out my name that I climbing out of the bed.

“Dinner is served,” he says from the other side. “Please don't take long, I miss you already.” he adds.

“Okay bro, I am coming.” I assure him.

After making my bed up, I walk to the sink and wash my face to clear any trace of being sleepy from my eyes.

My whole body feels fresh and all the tiredness have cleared from my body. I feel like a new human being.

'You are happy now, aren't you?' my wolf sounds from the back of my mind.

'Why not?' I reply. 'Aren't you happy as well?' I ask her though I can already feel her happiness.

'Yes I am.' she replies. 'We are finally happy!' she concludes and that makes me happy as well.

Though I don't know whatever awaits me now that I'm eighteen and it's only yesterday that I was rejected, I have a lot of hopes that everything will be smooth from now onwards. I just trust in the moon goddess' promises that everything will fall into place!

I walk downstairs to the dining table and I am surprised to find the rest waiting for me in the living room. There's no food on the dining table and I suddenly wonder why I was being called downstairs.

Before I can open my mouth to say anything, my aunt stands up and takes my hand into hers, confusing me when further.

“We will be having our dinner at the Alpha and Luna's house and I hope you're comfortable with that.” she explains and I smile. I take in a deep breath and relax since I thought something bad had just happened.

“That's great.” I reply in excitement though I'm trying as much as I can not to show it.

“I thought maybe you'll be scared since this is your first day here.” she explains, quite surprised that I didn't show any signs of being scared. Why should even be sacred? I've been here before and I used to go to the Luna's house every now and then.

“Shall we?” I ask them, trying to lighten the moment. After everything that I've passed through in Juan's hands, I don't have any room for being scared of a wolf just like myself. Besides, I am a princess, a daughter of a Luna and an Alpha and before s**t happened, I was already used to Royalty life.

Everyone else stands up and the five of us exit the house and we all walk towards the main house.

Right now, I have a little or no recollection at all of how Prince Collins Williams the Seashore Pack's Alphas son looks like. The few moments I visited aunt Ashley here, I didn't always get a chance to see him because he was always in a boarding school far away and if happened to see him, we'd just say hi to each other and nothing more. No playing together, no interacting....just a simple hi!

My aunt had earlier told me that Collins is around and though he's already twenty, he hasn't met his mate yet. All the efforts made by him and his parents to look for his mate have proved futile.

They've hosted several events and invited damsels from all over the kingdoms in attempt to look for his mate but all in vain. In total, they've organised three events, one being his high school graduation party, his eighteenth birthday and also his nineteenth birthday. All that was in vain because he was unable to meet his mate.

I vividly remember when he was eighteen, a party was held and I remember princess Tina Phil, the daughter of Alpha Phil Carson of the Red Moon Pack and sister to Juan Phil who recently rejected me, together with Vivian Alex who happens to be Beta Alex Fredrick's daughter attended the party.

After the party, they came back home disappointed that none of them was his mate and they swore never to attend any of his mate-searching parties ever again. At least, that's what they referred to his events as.

Right now, Collins is back home and his parents as usual are organising for his twentieth birthday party and the same old thing will be done. It will be held this coming weekend and I'm glad I'm around to witness all this happening. At least, I'm sure no one will forbid me to attend.

Damsels from all over have already been invited and it's rumoured that if this time round he doesn't meet his mate, he'll be allowed to choose one from the many damsels who have been eyeing him. Well, I'm wishing him nothing but good luck!
