Chapter 3

2010 Words
SAMANTHA Alpha Trevor and Luna Whitney are happy to have us for dinner and Luna Whitney can't stop fussing at how big I have grown. They used to be very good friends with my parents so they don't need any introduction when it comes to me. They already know that I am an Alpha's daughter. Through out the dinner, they keep on asking me questions upon questions wondering why I left the Red Moon Pack in such a short notice. Everyone knows what I have been going through in the hands of Alpha Phil Carson and his family therefore I just inform them that I couldn't take their mistreatments any longer. However, I don't tell them about Juan rejecting me and I rejecting him back because I don't find it necessary, although I'll have to tell my brother and my aunt everything, starting from Juan's several attempts on me, his continuous insults and finally how he rejected me last night after realising that I am his mate! As we eat, I can't stop looking around the house to see if I'll spot Collins anywhere because he's not at the dining table with us, although his thirteen year old sister Chloe is here. It's like aunt Ashley notices and senses my curiousity because she asks about Collins as we take some drinks in the Pack House's living room. Mmm, she took really long to do that, didn't she? “Oh, we are sorry we didn't tell you earlier,” Luna Whitney starts. “Our son went to the city check on our businesses but he will be back again before his event this coming weekend.” she explains to my relief. Wow, why am I even relieved? It's not like we are that conversant with each other! *** I roll and toss on bed after dinner and I'm wondering why sleep isn't catching up with me. I can't seem to get Collins out of my mind and I wonder how he looks like right now. I also wonder if he will recognise me or even pay any attention to me when he comes back from the city. By the look of things, he's such a busy person and such people have no time for people like me! 'Why are you even think about him? It's not like he is our mate!' my wolf sounds in my head, making me to frown. She's so blunt and straight to the point! 'You don't have to remind me that I am mateless, do you?' I cuss. 'We are mateless, not just you!' she reminds me. She's so naughty! 'Yeah right. So, do you have to rub it on my face?' I ask her. 'What if Collins turns out to be our fated mate?' she asks absentmindedly. 'You are overthinking again, aren't you? There's no way he will even look my way!' well, I am quite convinced of that. I am not that rich and again, my parents are no longer alive therefore I don't know if I qualify to be called an Alpha's daughter or not. Worse still, Gary and I doesn't have any Pack as we speak since Phil Carson and his wife did their worst and made us orphans! 'We have to take chances, don't we? Besides, it's only the moon goddess who determines the fate of us all, not any other wolf!' well, she's making sense but I don't seem to agree with her. 'We just got rejected last night and I don't think we'd be that lucky to get a second chance that soon. I am sure it'll take a lot of years to be able to be paired to another wolf.' 'You're just being ignorant dear but all I know is that we won't take long before meeting our real mate. The moon goddess will grant us our second chance mate very soon!' She's so confident and I hope she is right! Since I am already sleepy right now, I shove her to the back of my head without a warning and I crouch up on bed as I wait for sleep to catch up with me. Who knows, she might be right....we might meet our second chance mate sooner or later even if that mate won't be Collins. Why am I even dreaming? Chances to be Collins mate are slim. I am a nobody as it is now and the moon goddess won't be that heartless to pair a hard working man with someone who doesn't have even a penny on her name! **** It's morning already and Gary is busy banging on my door telling me to open it for him. He is scolding me for being a heavy sleeper but I just wish he knows how rarely I used to have enough sleep while at the Red Moon Pack. He should just leave me alone! Since the door is locked, I sit up on bed and after slipping into my sandals, I walk to the door and unlock it then let him in. Does he have to be this annoying? Agrrr! “Good morning Sam, don't tell me you haven't gotten enough sleep.” he asks me as he makes himself comfortable on my bed. He is all dressed up school. I had already forgotten that he's still in high school! “Good morning bro, I slept late since I couldn't get any sleep.” I explain. “Can you come with me to my school? I want to brag to everyone that I have a big sister.” “Are you serious right now? I haven't even washed my face!” “You don't need to do much sis, just wash your face, slip into a dress and let's get going.” speaking of dresses, I only have two of them and nothing more and I hope my aunt will be kind enough to buy some clothes for me. “Alright, if you insist. Just wait for me downstairs and I'll be there before you know it.” “Find me in the car at the parking lot and don't take long, the driver and I will be waiting!” Gary says as he stands up to leave. “Okay.” I simply reply as I head to the bathroom to run a quick shower. I won't just be washing my face, I will take a quick bath so as to be ready for the day. Gary, Brianna and Calvin are already in the car and immediately I get in at the passenger seat beside the driver, I acknowledge him and say a good morning to my cousins and then after ensuring everyone is comfortable, the driver ignites the car and then drives out of the parking lot. We first drop my cousins at the junior school and then proceed to drop Gary at his school. At the school's parking lot, he forced me to step down from the car and he proudly introduces me to anyone around us who cares to listen. After what seems like eternity, Gary finally lets go of me and bids the driver and I goodbye but not after warning me not to fail to show up during his pick up time when the school day comes to an end. Back in the Pack House, I find aunt Ashley waiting for me in the dining table with breakfast and after exchanging pleasantries, we settle down to take some food. As we eat, she informs me that her husband has some official engagements therefore he woke up earlier and left even before Gary and their children woke up. After breakfast, I am about to clear the table but a Pack House worker who's on standby stops me and goes ahead to clear everything and takes the dishes to the kitchen. Cleaning the table after others hasn't been a big deal because that's what I have been doing at the Red Moon Pack ever since I joined them in disguise. Well, I think I should start getting used to being served and not being the servant! Aunt Ashley and I head to the living room to continue with our catching up. I pick the remote and switch the television on since it's long since I had the privilege to watch a program or even news. After changing the channels for minutes, I settle on watching a wildlife documentary and I'm glad my aunt supports me on the same. “Sam,” Ashley calls me and I turn to face her. “You haven't yet told me why you left the Red Moon Pack and traveled all the way here.” Reducing the volume on the television, I sigh then get ready to tell her everything. She and Gary are my only surviving relatives and they both need to know the truth. “He rejected me.” I blurt out. “Who?” she asks in surprise. “Juan, Alpha Phil Carson's son.” “He is your mate?” “He was supposed to be but he rejected me and I rejected him back!” “You did?” she's still surprised. “Yes aunty, I had to. Since I joined their Pack, has been nothing but a pain in the as* therefore him rejecting me was a relief. I don't think I could have managed to live with such a sick soul under the same room forever!” “You did the right thing dear. Your real mate will come to you and he will accept you with all your flaws.” she assures me. “Do you think so aunty or you're just saying that so as to make me feel better?” I ask her. “I know you will meet him soon. Remember what happened to me?” she asks and I just nod. Of course I remember her giving me a story about how her first mate rejected her but the moon goddess was kind enough to pair her later in life with a loving and caring mate who is now her current mate. “I remember aunty and I hope I'll meet a good man who will love me for who I am.” I say while sighing. “You will meet him, trust me dear.” she assures me and I feel my wolf stirring restlessly in my head. She must be as eager as I am to have another mate! We spend part of the morning hours catching up and chatting about life and its challenges. It feels good to have someone who listens to all your rants, something I never got to experience when I was in Juan's Pack. Back there, I had no friends because everyone treated me as a slave and the few girls and boys who tried to come closer to me in school ended up being scared away by Juan and his boys. They couldn't risk being humiliated because of me. Although Joe tried his best to protect me from bullies and Juan himself, he always kept his distance and he only came to my rescue whenever he thought whatever that was happening to me was enough. I really appreciate his kind gesture though he wasn't around every time I needed help. His sister Vivian and the Alpha's daughter Tina always called him a coward for standing up for me but that never stopped him from protecting me whenever he could. There are several times I would wish he were my mate but I ended up rubbishing those thoughts off as just a mere dream because there's no way his parents would allow that to ever happen! Later in the day, Ashley takes me around the Pack house and the Pack, showing me everything and everywhere I need to know. She also accompanies me to the shopping centre and she buys a few dresses, tops, skirts, shoes and pants for me. After we're done we head back home and I accompany the driver to school to pick the children up since I promised Gary that I'll pick him up.
