The Malverns stared at the camels as if they had never seen such an animal before.
“What’s happening, sir?” Captain Jamieson asked.
“We’re all going to learn to ride a camel,” Jack told him. “It’s a new skill that will come in very handy.”
Jamieson shook his head. “Not in Hereford, sir. We don’t go in much for camel riding in Hereford.”
“You can be the first,” Jack said solemnly. “Others may follow.”
Jack watched as grinning natives began the lesson by mounting the camels themselves. Sergeant Deng took over the instructions.
