Third Person P.O.V The man panted hard, struggling to breath, as two men took him out of cold water drum in which they inverted his entire body upside down. "Please.... I swear I didn't betray you. Please.", He pleaded for the nth time. These were the same words, he had the same expressions and he was sincerely scared to death since the moment he was brought in the basement. Since the moment he was abducted and brought to this place, he knew that he had screwed up bad. His dirty secret was out and now he'll have to pay for his sins. The Mayor took his coat and shirt off and asked hi assistant to place it down neatly, in order to avoid any stains of blood. "Please.... Please Mr. Mayor. I swear on my mother, on my little kids... I swear I didn't betray you. Please trust me.", He cried again as he sat on his knees with his hands cuffed behind his back. He cried and pleaded over and over again. He wished and hoped for mercy, but even he knew that these two words didn't exist in Mayor's dictionary. "Trust you?", The mayor asked in complete annoyance, "Didn't I already do this?", He chuckled out coldly as he grabbed a wrench and bent down towards Gary, the man in despair who betrayed the Mayor. "How much information did you give them?", He asked grabbing his hair making him look into his vengeance filled eyes. The mayor was someone not to be played with. Once someone betrayed him, there was no place for forgiveness in his world. He had his own punishments and he knew how to c***k people up. He knew the power of his enemies but he never showed his true powers to anyone and that was his biggest strength. "I.... I didn't...", Before Gary could complete his sentence.... Brandon threw the wrench right onto his face making him fall down on his head on ground. "Tell me what I asked. Now.... What did you tell them?", He said grabbing his hair and picking his head again. "I....", He panted again as the pain hit him bad and he found it even difficult to stay conscious but Brandon knew how to keep his victims well and alive.... Until he wanted to. "I... Sent them a copy of the investment files.", He finally admitted because he knew that there was no escaping out of this. "How long have you been doing this?" "For the past four months." "And why did you do that?", He asked him in a calm tone. "Because.... They... Paid me double.", He admitted with fear rushing down his veins. "Now you see...", Brandon gestured his assistant to grab him a chair as he sat up on it and asked his men to hold Gary tight so he won't fall back. He sat calmly on his chair as he spoke. "If you would've came to me... Telling me that they offered you a fair share. Then I would've given you a better opportunity at life and perhaps paid you even more to play with them. Because that's when you could have proven yourself as a loyal subject to me. But instead what you did was betray me. You betrayed me for a double. You're nothing but a small little stink fish in my tank now!", He gestured one of his guards to step forward. He took out a gun from his pocket and gestured him to move back. He loaded the gun and pulled the trigger onto Gary's head. "Please... Please don't kill me. Please give me another chance ... Please I have wife and.... I... I have little kids. Please Mr. Mayor have some mercy on me.", He pleaded again, knowing that it was useless anyways. "Wife? Kids? You abuse them... You hit your wife and your kids. You f**k with w****s. What makes you think that they'll be happy if I left you alive?", Brandon spoke through bitterness. He pointed his finger at the trigger but as he was about to pull it, his assistant whispered into his ear. "Ms. Cole is here in your office and she's creating a scene.", He whispered lowly so only Brandon could hear. He stayed calm for a moment as he pulled the gun down. "Today is your unlucky day Gary...", He announced patting Gary's face, "ai won't be the one killing you", He smiled leaving behind Gary to his men. "What do you want us to do with him?", One his men asked. He wore back his shirt and coat and made his way upstairs. "Chop his head off and send it to Carters, they'll know not to mess with us again.", He said before entering inside the elevator. "What's the situation?", He asked Jean about the situation above in their office being disturbed by Amy. "She came in barging inside, asking for you. Rosita called me she's trying to sooth her down but she's extremely vicious at the moment.", Jean updated him with the situation. A smirk appeared onto Brandon's face because he knew he was successful in triggering Amy and finally bending her head down. ***************** Amy's P.O.V "Please Ma'am.... You can't just barge into the Mayor's office just like that.", His secretary -- most probably -- told me for the nth time. "Oh your Mayor can do that with People's life but I just can't do it with his office! Oh the hypocrisy!", I sarcastically hit her back with my words that made her shut up. I sat at one of couch seats inside the office with my hands and legs crossed stubbornly. "Ma'am please.... I'll have to call the security!", She breached and I squinted my eyes at her. "I dare you to go ahead.", I smiled at her and warned her with my tone. Suddenly the door to the room opened as Brandon walked in casually alongside another man. He passed by me and didn't even bother once to look at me. His actions infuriated me even more. "Mr. Mayor.... I'm extremely sorry... I tried getting her out but she won't listen.", She started complained and apologizing with her fake tones accent. Of course I hated her without any reason because she worked for him. For the asshole! "It's fine Rosita... You guys may leave.", He announced in a calm manner and the man and Rosita -- left the office without uttering any single word. Now we were left alone in a room. For the first time after six years... We were alone together. Only the conditions and our selves were not in the state to rather remorse the six years of our separation. "There are no manners in you.", He said more like a statement as he stood with his back facing me, looking outside the large window pane. "What the f**k is this?", I yelled as I took out the envelope and threw it down on his table. He turned around and gave the envelope a look before he went ahead and took a seat. Still not bothering to look at me. His actions were breaking down my meter of patience and I was getting more and more furious with each passing second. I woke up this morning to a blue envelope placed on my bedside table. Once I opened it, it were papers of power of attorney transfer of my entire business from dad to Brandon Mayhew! Who, now stood the owner of my entire property, cafés and restaurants, even my entire share holds in every investment. My entire bank accounts were ceased as now he owned the businesses and the only operating account was the one I entrusted in Grandma's name. Luckily she was safe for the moment. I called in Hazel to check if there were any reports on someone else taking over my business but she sounded normal and in fact reported me certain emails, asking me when I was coming back. I called grandma to see if she was doing okay and even she told me that she was in her best healthy condition. Surprisingly no one knew about the engagement, even though I clearly remember cameras flashing at that moment. "What do you want?",, Brandon said looking into his laptop. "Explanation! What the f**k is this? Do you think you can scare me with this?", I yelled at him. "Lower your tone.", He said plainly not even bothering to look over at me. "Are you shitting me?", I challenged back his tone. "Enough!", He closed down his laptop and stood up finally meeting my gaze. He looked straight and directly into my eyes throwing glances of death at me. "Couldn't you already read the papers? I bought your business and your properties from the current owner and that was your father. Now what else do you need to know?", He said as he stood crossing his hands over his chest, daunting me with his words. "Why? Why would you do that? And why send me these pages? What is it? A threat?", I argued. "Do you really think I am going to waste my time threatening you? I've bought your business for 40 millions from your father, what makes you think that I'm going to waste my money on your useless self and to threaten you?" His words dropped down a huge bomb inside my stomach, exploding my anxiety. My total assets and businesses weren't more than net worth of 10 million and he paid 40 times more for what? If it wasn't to threaten me into this engagement? He opened one of his drawer and pulled out the ring placing it down on the table. I looked at him with a c****d eyebrow. "You don't want your grandma to live in that rathole again do you?", His words made my eyes wide with shock as he c****d his smirked knowing that my misery was upon me. "Don't drag her into this.", I warned him completely knowing that I wasn't in the position to do so. "I won't.... But you would. If you didn't wear this ring.", He said sitting back at this chair and playing with the ring as he rotated it on the table, between his fingers. "Brandon... This isn't a joke.", I spoke through a heavy voice. I couldn't risk granny and her life at any cost. "How can the life of your employees and their families be a joke to you?", He said with a dead voice as my brain screamed with the tightening suffocation around me. "Why do you want this?", I finally asked him with a straight and cold tone. He got out of his chair, picking up the ring and started walking in my direction. He stopped only a few inches away from me. The way he looked at me with eyes filled with hatred and destruction for me. It scared me. He scared me. It brought back his memories of his abusive behaviour. "Here's the thing.", He began, as he took steps towards me. I started taking steps backwards, definitely afraid of his glare. I had stayed alone for six years, faced gangsters as a matter of fact yet I never felt as scared for life as I did standing right in front of Brandon. Ironically? He was the guy I once loved, who loved me as well. "From now on... You're not going ask me any further information because I won't be answering any of your stupid questions.", He continued walking as I took steps back. "If you want your pretty little old Grandma to stay happy in that lavish house you built her, having her continue her treatment from the best doctors, your employees staying where they are happily in that little circus of yours... Then from now on you'll do whatever I'll tell you to." I gulped down hard, with my heart racing at each of his words. He continued taking steps back making me walk backwards as my foot stumble upon something and I fell back directly on my butt. I hissed a little as I tried maintaining my posture before Brandon came in standing tall above me. "You tried messing with me already... And here you are.", He pointed at me fallen down. "Don't trigger me any further and everything in Miami stays at peace. Here." He threw the ring at me as it directly hit my face and landed onto my lap. "Wear this! Come to the party, smile at everyone and tell that you're really excited for the wedding. Now get out of my office and the next time, don't dare barge in! You know I don't stay back quiet." I got up picking up the ring and my hand bag. At this point, my ego, my hard work and my struggles of six years, all were rendered to nothing in front of this asshole. As I was about to leave he held on to my wrist tightly making me turn towards him. "Don't try to act smart... Your old lady will definitely be the strike one!", He tightened his grip and let go off me as he went back to his seat and sat down with peace. Leaving me rendered broken into millions of pieces. I quietly made my way out, with my head perched down. As soon as I entered inside my car, I broke down into tears, crying out loudly. Although things were never going to be the same as they were between me and Brandon but it still hurt. His words still hurt me and I felt breaking down with every time he hurt me with his words and actions. Perhaps his hatred had no boundaries for me.
