Avery’s POV
I was furious when I met up with Malachi and found out Dad had lied to me. I knew he was a little indifferent to things that went on outside the pack, but I couldn’t help feeling like he had sidelined me. I was due to take over in a few weeks, and he still wasn’t giving me any responsibility, unlike Malachi’s Dad, who seemed more than ready for him to take over, encouraging him to step into the role.
I wasn’t sure why, despite my ceremony being in just a few weeks, he was still hiding things from me. His approach to the pack over the years had been slowly moving in the wrong direction. Malachi was right, he had become complacent.
