Rae’s POV My day had gone slowly, even though I had already got through both shifts of my two main jobs. I had struggled to concentrate; the lack of sleep having got to me more than it had ever done in the past. I couldn’t get rid of the uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach, and it put me on edge. Tonight, I had a shift at the petrol station. I was handing in my notice as discussed with Grammy, and I had made it to work with a few minutes to spare, so I headed straight to see Maurice in the back shop office.
