Dad turned to look at me, his gruff exterior stiffened.
“Well?” I asked again.
Lottie stood slightly behind me but in view. She stood tall next to me, saying nothing but making it clear she was standing with me. Dad looked down at Mum and she nodded solemnly.
His lower lip twitched “Only for your mother, have I agreed not to fight you.” his voice increased in volume as he said what he was really thinking. “Don’t think for one minute I am either happy about this or that I am giving in to your childish demands. You are not ready, and I stand by that. You have made a spectacle of yourself tonight, you are immature, irresponsible and I am deeply asham….”
