Chapter 5 Going Home

1243 Words
Looking at Rebecca’s angry face, Mike could not help but smile. He was the dedicated driver of the Whites, and also served as Rebecca’s bodyguard. He knew her very well since he had seen her grow up from childhood. It was the first time in years that he had seen the young lady so angry, and it was directed at a young man. But that young man, even as a veteran, cannot figure out how powerful the man was. He was not an ordinary person. Should he report it to Mr. White? Left the airport, Amos directly called a taxi to the Queens. Got out of the taxi and looked at the familiar scene before his eyes, he became quite emotional. Six years. For six years he never had contact with his family. It was not that Amos did not want to, but he dared not. He was afraid to hear his mother’s voice and he could not help crying. And he was more afraid of how worried his mother would be if she knew his situation. At the outset, the 14-year-old Amos had held a fruit knife and had stabbed the brute from the back to death who had wanted to act indecently to his mother. He would have been put in prison but had been taken away by a mysterious middle-aged man with whiskers. And then Six years just had passed. For the first three years, Amos had been held on a remote island to learn how to kill. And in the next three years, he had traveled to North and South America, the Middle East and North Africa, East and West Europe. Almost every day he had put to use what he had learned on the island. In those six years, he had never had a good sleep or eaten a proper meal, and of course, had never had time to sit down and make a phone call home. Until that Zoe girl had forever left him, Amos was determined to return to New York to live an ordinary but free life. After losing then people would know how to cherish what they still had. ... As Amos was losing in the complex thoughts while slowly walking on the streets, there was a girl wearing a school uniform rushing out of the intersection, and run hurriedly past the side of Amos and accidentally bumped into his arm. “Hey, sweetheart, I haven’t seen you before. Do you also live here?” Amos smiled slightly and tried the best to make his tone being gentle as possible as he could. That girl raised her head, looked at Amos with vigilant eyes, and turned around to walk away fast. “Well...” Amos could not help but touch the nose. Did I look like a bad guy? How can it be?! If so, how could those European princesses keep chasing after me to show their love? Shaking his head, Amos sighed and continued to walk home. Although he had not gone home for six years, there were still some impressions in his memory... At the same time, the girl who had just passed Amos trotted home, panting while looking anxious. “Mom, let’s just pack up and run. I asked the waitress aunt at the coffee shop, and she said that those people will come to find us! Let’s go! They are not reasonable people but brutes instead!” Thinking of those people, Alice’s eyes were full of anger and sadness. The bungalow, located in the poor area of Queens, was very shabby from both outside and inside. There were only a few scruffy furniture and two old beds, while on one of which lies a middle-aged woman with a pale face. The woman was about in her 40s, but the cruel life had already whitened her temples and wrinkled her face. Hearing Alice’s words, Flora forced herself to make a smile and said weakly, “Alice, my leg was broken. I can’t walk. It’s all my fault. I'm the one who got you into trouble. Just go, leave me alone.” “Mom... “ Alice could not help but burst into crying. She lay on Flora’s body, sobbing, “Mom, I am your daughter. I will never leave you alone!” Flora looked at Alice and shook her head bitterly. “Sweety, just go. You know those brutes won’t let you off. And if anything happens to you, I will never forgive myself.” “Mom, if you don’t go, I won’t go either! You still want to wait for my brother to come back, right? If something happens to you, how will you ever have a chance to see him again?” Sure enough, after hearing the words, Flora who was disheartened to death slowly opened her eyes, which however full of bitterness. “Amos… my boy… he may never come back... otherwise, he would have been here if he could... Alice, go. Perhaps it’s as well if I leave this way so that I can be with your brother and your dad forever.” With that, Flora tried her best to push Alice away. Looking at her mother’s desperate expression, Alice’s tears fell down drop by drop again. All this should blame on that bastard! If it weren’t for his selfish run at the beginning, mom wouldn’t live in hardship for so many years, and she wouldn’t have to be bullied like this right now! Although Alice knew little about her brother, she subconsciously thought that what her mom suffered now was caused by that person. And she hated him! ... According to the route in memory, Amos stepped toward home faster and faster. Thinking of his mom and little sister whom he had not seen for six years, he simultaneously felt some fear and some excitement. Uncle whiskers took him out of New York in such a hurry that he hadn’t even had time to take a family photo with him. He couldn’t imagine how his families had gotten along in the last few years. Mom, I was home! You can rest assured. This time, no one can force us pro ion scattered again. I would certainly let you live a good life! Tightening his fists, Amos gently wiped the tears of the eyes. While leaving the HELL, he had not taken even a dollar from that world with him. He believed, by virtue of the abilities he had learned for those 6 years, he can let his mother and Alice have a happy life! Soon, Amos came to a bungalow with a shabby exterior wall. “Hum?” Just walked into the courtyard door, Amos frowned. Because of his strong hearing, he could clearly hear the crying from the room, which made him shocked, and a kind of ominous premonition flash upon him. Instantly, the power inside his body erupted completely. Amos quickly rushed into the house. While looking at that gaunt woman on the bed, Amos was stunned and the knapsack on his shoulder fell on the ground. “Mom...” Amos knelt on the ground and cried out that word that for six years he had not shouted out.
