CHAPTER THREEThe following morning Orlina was just putting the finishing touches to her hair when Sarah came in.
She was carrying a number of things in her arms.
“What do you have there?” Orlina asked in some surprise.
She was thinking that she and the lady’s maid had already closed and locked the trunks.
“First of all I have come to say ‘good morning’ to you,” Sarah said a little reproachfully. “Although I left you alone last night, I hope you slept well.”
“I slept only when I was not worrying about today,” Orlina admitted.
“Oh, stop worrying, Orlina! Everything is all right and Rollo has accepted that I should be chaperoned and come with him.”
“Are you certain you are wise?” Orlina asked. “If he does not want you, surely it would be better to stay at home and he will be pleased to
