CHAPTER FIVEDinner was a hilarious meal because the Earl was sure that he had beaten the record of all time.
They toasted him in champagne and Pierre said,
“I am sure that The Silver Dragon ought to be given an award of some sort. After all I believe that you were the first owner to introduce electric light and now you have the record for speed.”
“I shall have to compare it with some of the others when I return home,” the Earl said, “but I am delighted that I can go so fast.”
“Why are you in such a hurry?” Penny asked.
There was a pause before the Earl replied,
“I like doing things quickly. There is nothing more dreary than having to hang about.”
“I agree with you there,” Lord Fenton came in.
They began to argue over people who they thought were slow and became very animated about
