Chapter 5 Wade threw his truck into park when he reached the Lawton Soccer Complex. The last thirty-six hours had been the absolute worst of his life. He wouldn’t deny that. And he was including those initial first days back home when Nurse “Ratched” came to clean his wounds, and later when Dr. Allen had him bend his knee for the first time. He bristled in his seat remembering. But these thirty-six hours had ended in light instead of darkness. He had hope for something. For a future. For a life worth living.., Through the tears, Wade had asked for help. First, from his mother, then from the kind operator on the Veterans Crisis Line.
