Chapter 2

2045 Words
She was a legally married woman. She always thought that she’d marry the man of her dreams at a small wedding with their families and close friends. Instead, she was married off to a man who wanted nothing more than her death. She couldn’t remember what her wedding was like. She was too shocked to process anything that had happened. There was only one thing she remembered and that was the alpha’s – no, her husband’s vow. “Don’t get too comfortable. We may be married, but I vow to make your life a living hell. In the end either I’ll kill you, or you’ll kill yourself.” There were many secrets amongst the Royal Alpha family; however there was one thing that everyone knew. The Alpha never broke a promise. From that moment on, she knew that her life would never be what it used to be like. It had been a week since her marriage and she already felt like she was going crazy. Every time she heard footsteps outside of her bedroom door, her heart would start to beat erratically and she’d start to sweat. She didn’t know the alpha as much as she knew Stephan, but one thing she did know was that he was the opposite of his younger brother. Stephan. She suddenly felt very angry. She knew Stephan since childhood and although he was only a few years younger than her, he always cared and looked out for her. She couldn’t understand why he would do something like this. Did he really want her to suffer? Is that how much he hated her? She preferred death over this lifestyle. Someone suddenly knocked on her door making her freeze. She could feel the blood rush out of her face. She thought it would be the alpha but then quickly dismissed that idea as the alpha didn’t have enough manners to knock. She calmed down at the thought. “C-Come in.” Edward walked in to see the new bride sitting on the ground beside her bed with a nervous look on her face. He felt sorry for her but knowing the alpha he wasn’t going to stop until he got what he wanted. Edward just hoped that this bride was strong enough to withstand the pressure of being Alexander’s wife. “His Royal Alpha Julian is waiting for you at the dinner table, Miss.” “W-Why?” She croaked out. In the past two days, all of her meals were brought up to her. She didn’t walk out of her room at all. She didn’t want to either. “It’s dinner time. His Royal Alpha wants to have dinner with his new daughter present at the table.” To say she was nervous would be an understatement. She was shaking from head to toe as they walked to the dining hall. She wasn’t afraid of the Royal Alpha or anything else, what she was scared of was seeing Alpha Alexander. He had disappeared straight after their wedding and hadn’t returned until that day. When she heard the maid happily tell her that her husband was back, she wanted to jump out of her window. But she couldn’t. She tried her hardest to be strong. She had decided that she would be strong and fight against the alpha – she wouldn’t lose to him. That didn’t stop the fear from growing though. She could smell her own fear and was sure that others around her could too. She tried her hardest to calm her nerves down but couldn’t. “Are you ready, Miss?” Edward asked the new bride. Instead of answering, she nodded. Edward opened the door and nodded for her to go in. She relaxed when she realized that her husband wasn’t present. “Come along, dear.” The Royal Alpha called. She quickly walked over, bowed at the Royal Alpha and sat down in the seat that the maid was holding for her. Stephan felt guilty. He knew that this was the only way to save her, but the look on her face made him wonder if this was really for the best. Her eyes looked lifeless and her skin was more pale than usual. She had only been with them for the past two days but she already looked like she had lost some weight. Overall, she looked dead. What upset him even more was that she didn't acknowledge him at all. She didn't look his way nor did she greet him as she did his father. She must've been upset at him. “Edward said that you were unwell. Have you been resting well?” Julian asked his new daughter. Physically, she looked like she was about to die. He hoped that her mentality was stronger than that. Stephan had mentioned that she was one of the strongest she-wolves out there. He needed that to be true as he needed a strong future Luna. They couldn’t have a weakling holding up their household. “I’m fine, thank you.” “Great.” He motioned for the maid to fill up their plates. “From now on I want you to eat dinner with us on the dinner table. I’ll have no excuses, understand?” “Yes, sir.” Dinner went by slower than what she had wanted. She was glad when it was over. The only noises that could be heard were the sounds of their cutlery hitting their plates. None of them said a word as they ate yet she still felt completely uncomfortable. Just as they finished, the door opened and in walked Alexander. Rose’s heart stopped at his entrance but no matter how much she wanted to look away, she couldn’t. He had a huge grin on her face, however instead of making her feel at ease, the grin scared her more than his anger did. Stephan knew that the look on Alexander’s face meant he had good news. However, that good news was good news for him and bad news for everyone else. “Why are you so late?” Julian asked as he stood up. “Dinner is over.” Alexander smiled. “I was preparing a gift for my new bride. I didn’t want to return until it was ready.” Stephan and Julian’s eyes narrowed at Alexander’s word. They knew Alexander well enough to know that he wouldn’t get over his plans for revenge in a matter of a few days. If anything, he probably went to hunt for his enemies that past week. Stephan’s eyes widened at the sudden realization. That was most likely exactly what Alexander did. He was about to walk towards Rose, but his father pulled him back. Stephan turned to his father and upon seeing the look on his face, realized that he too figured out what this gift could possibly be. Actually, his father most likely already knew exactly what this gift would be. Unlike the ordinary werewolves, Alpha's had special powers. Physical and mental strength aside, they had what human's called "superpowers". In the werewolf community however, they were called "elements". Each Alpha was born with a special element-- Earth, Air, Water and Fire. The fire using Alphas were known to be temperamental and to look for the joy in every situation. However, they were also known to be ruthless. They would attack anyone that got in their way and everyone around them had a hard time. Many had chosen to be banished from their pack over spending time with a fire using alpha. The fire using Alpha's wolves were generally a dark orange or red colour. Fire using alphas were born with the mark of a red phoenix on their left shoulder blades. Alphas with the Air element were said to be the weakest of all Alpha's. This belief solely derived out of the fact that the Air using Alphas didn't have any special power to physically hurt an opponent. They were known to be very clean, neat and regimented. They also took very good care of their bodies, as their physical strength was seen as their source of power. They were also known to be complete loners. Although they didn’t necessarily hate people, they found happiness in solitude. Air using alphas generally had a white-as-snow wolf. They were also born with a symbol of a dragon on their left shoulder blade. Water using alphas were the calmest of all. It would take a lot to anger a water alpha. Serenity came to them easily. They were also known to be very imaginative. Their calmness angered many wolves as these alphas have a go-with-the-flow attitude. They never worried and encouraged others not to worry either. The water using alphas had a calming blue wolf. Their wolves were known to calm others down even in the middle of a raging war. They were born with the symbol of a dove on their left shoulder blades. Earth using alphas were very caring and gentle. They were very passionate about their family, friends and their pack. They didn’t like leaving anyone behind and tried their hardest to make everyone around them feel happy and comfortable. They were also very down-to-earth. Earth elemented alphas were natural problem solvers. Their wolves were generally a shade of different browns. They were born with the symbol of a deer on their left shoulder blades. The symbol of the animals were very significant in the werewolf world. No one knew how or why, but each alpha was born with one of the four animals on their left shoulder blades. They referred to each of their animals as their pets and were able to make contact with them whenever they wanted to use their elements. Those said "pets" were just like their wolves, an animal trapped inside their bodies. Only difference these "pets" had from their wolves was that the alphas couldn't shift into their "pets" like they could into their wolves. However, they could summon them whenever they wanted. Although other wolves couldn't see their pets, the alphas could summon them out and talk to them whenever they wanted. The Royal Alpha family was gifted with all four elements; however, they too had one element that was more dominating than the rest. Stephan’s Earth element was more dominating than his other elements. Alexander’s Fire element was the dominating element and Julian’s water element was more dominating. However, not only were the Royal Alpha family gifted with all four elements, but the assigned Royal Alpha, or in better words, the king of the werewolves, was gifted with the special power of telepathy. Because of his ability, Julian knew exactly what this present was and what his son was hoping to achieve by giving it to Rose. Although he didn't approve of his son's actions, Julian wanted nothing more than to see how things would unravel once Rose opens her "gift". Alexander motioned for Edward to bring the box over. Rose slowly stood up from her seat. There was something wrong. The look on his face was telling her that this gift wasn’t going to be something she liked. Her heart started to beat faster and faster as Edward walked closer. The box was nothing special, but the smell that was omitting from it made her stomach churn. It was a metallic and rusty smell with a woody touch to it. It was a familiar smell but she just couldn’t figure out where or what the smell was from. Edward placed the box on the table, motioned for the maids to follow him out and left the room. “Open it." Rose’s blood ran cold at what she saw in the box. Before she knew what she was doing, she was throwing punches at her husband.
