After stepping out of that cave I didn't look back. Due to my anger I had said a lot of harsh things to Sebastian even though he had been the one to start it in the first place. Ever since the two of us had met he had been calling me a human as if he were some sort of God, after hearing the word human slip so many times from his lips I had become irritated and snapped at him.
After all he must have been resurrected in this world just like I was, maybe that's why he thought of himself as a God because he had survived here for so long. He felt that I was blind that I couldn’t see the difference between a human being and the undead, even though I could. He had said that he regretted saving the life of a deficient person and that I was in his debt, but my debt had been repaid in full when I saved his life.
Whatever, I was just glad that I was able to get out of that strange place and away from those people, now my only goal was to find a way to return to my world. I now understood the truth of this place, everything was exceedingly dangerous and completely beyond my imagination. I must return to my world no matter the cost and try to live my life as happily as I had before. This time I would take that second opportunity for a life and live it to the best of my ability, I was not going to waste that chance. I thought back to the people in that cave made out of trees and what they had said, but it hadn't made any sense.
Why would they have created all those odd and scary stories for their own entertainment? Even if everything that they had said were true, why drag me into it? It didn't matter anyway because everyone here considers humans to be insignificant and useless. So they didn't need me and I had no intention of helping them. I hadn't even wanted to believe these unknown people, my only goal had become getting out of this place so that I could get back to the safety of my home.
I glanced back while walking realizing that I had come quite far, I felt as if I had been walking for over two hours, but this path seemed to be never ending as if the forest was infinite. I looked ahead, the only thing to be seen was more forest and darkness. I stopped walking and leaned against a tree for support as I tried to get my bearings, but I had no idea where I was going so I looked up to the sky. The same red moon was there, it had been changing color from time to time, but the one thing that had been bugging me was that the sun still had not risen in the sky.
I was trying to guess how long I had been here, but when I came here the creatures and atmosphere I had come in contact with made it seem like it was evening. So I could estimate that I had spent about eight hours here already. By estimation it should be time for the sun to rise, but that was the strange thing it wasn't, there had been no sun at all, not even a single ray of sunlight had been visible. I had been hoping that the sun would rise, so that I could get a clear sense of the paths here, but this continuous darkness was driving me crazy. I was so tired, I needed to rest after hours of walking but when I looked around at the ground I was too afraid to sit here. I just kept seeing the tentacles coming out of the ground from earlier.
When I had seen that girl crying a strange hatred had risen up inside me, but at that moment I had a weapon and now I didn't. After walking a little further the strength left my body, as my legs gave out and I crawled to a resting place. I sat there without caring about anything as sitting under the trees was just as dangerous as sitting out in the open or on the ground.
The trees could turn into strange animals or some creature could pop out to try and eat me. I had been looking up at the trees while my foolish mind had been hoping that there would at least be a fruit tree somewhere, so that I could at least have something to eat. But when I was in the World of the Undead there were no living organisms here. How could I expect there to be fruit trees? I felt both hungry and thirsty, they had both been gradually increasing and it was becoming unbearable.
“I WISH THERE WAS A RIVER HERE SO I COULD DRINK SOME WATER!!” I yelled to myself as I looked up at the sky. I rolled around on the ground scratching and pulling at my hair, as though I were having a tantrum. That was when I heard the sound of water burbling. I immediately got up from the ground, trying to listen for the sound again. A big smile spread across my face when what I heard turned out to be true. Somewhere nearby there was a river, I began to sprint to the east following the sound of the river to its source. If I had known my demand would be fulfilled the moment I opened my mouth then I would have done it straight away. After running for about two minutes the sound of water became clearer, I knew that I was getting closer.
My smile widened when I got to the edge of the forest, my heart and mind were overloaded with happiness as the forest finally appeared to have ended. I stopped near the last tree to take in the river, which was quite large and flowed for quite a distance. The problem was that I couldn't see that much due to the darkness, the water of the river appeared to be black. Before leaving the forest and setting foot in the wide open area around the river bank, I looked around to assess if there was any danger I should be concerned with.
After being in this place I had learned that there was danger in every step that you took here. I could not find anything at all, not even a bird. There was a strange silence that had fallen over the clearing, the only sound that could be heard was that of the water gurgling as it passed by. The opportunity was too good to pass up, so I slowly moved forward with each step I looked to my left and right. I slowly increased my speed until eventually I was running and within seconds I had reached the banks of the river.
I felt as if I had found paradise when I looked down at the water. After looking at it closer I could tell that it was only water, it only appeared to be black due to the darkness. I was just about to dip my hand into the river to scoop up the water to drink when I heard the sound of a strange voice. My body went still as soon as I heard it because it hadn't sounded like a human voice or anything else that I had encountered here so far, this was a far scarier voice.
My eyes widened as I became more alert, I don't know why but I felt as if the grunting sound was getting louder as if whatever was making it was growing closer to me. I tried to carefully look back so that I could locate where the noise had been coming from, but I found that there was nothing behind or around me. I looked down at the river again and again and I heard the same grunting noise from before. This time I got up from the ground and started to look around. I could still hear the sound but I couldn't find anything or anyone. When it stopped I looked up, I realized that it was the beginning of a big storm.
“If you don't want to die then I suggest that you don't drink the water from that river,” Sebastian advised, his voice coming out of the forest.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, irritably with a sigh.
“I followed you,” Sebastian replied, looking down at the river water.
“Why do you need to follow a useless human like me? Have you forgotten that I am a worthless, selfish, piece of s**t human?” I asked, but when I looked at him I was surprised to see that his expression had changed, it no longer looked proud and arrogant like it had earlier.
“Actually, I am here to apologize to you. I am sorry I should not have called you all of those things,” Sebastian confessed, sounding serious.
“What's wrong with you all of a sudden? Don't talk to me like that otherwise I might throw up right,” I joked and he started laughing at me.
“Yeah, I think I will have to use my normal tone, so I will get to the point….” Sebastian said, walking closer to me.
“Actually I need your help to save my world,” Sebastian admitted as I rolled my eyes.
“Seriously, don't start this again. I am not going to believe your stories and I am not going to help you.” I replied, looking around for the source of those scary voices that I had heard before. Why couldn't I hear them now? That couldn't have been an illusion, could it?
“Please, just hear me out. I understand that you are angry and I had not been expecting that a human would be a destroyer. I thought it would be an immortal or one of the undead that would be a destroyer. I have been waiting for them for years, but when I saw a human I got frustrated and lost my mental stability. I thought that when a human couldn't even save her own life then how was she going to save us because humans are weak..” Sebastian revealed, using that word human again. This was getting ridiculous, I was starting to hear that word coming from him like it was the words to a song.
“So what has changed now? Nothing has changed since the last time we spoke. I am still a human who is weak,” I reminded him as he took out the same knife I had used from his pocket.
“That was the biggest mistake that I had made. You are not weak, you are stronger than you could ever imagine. You really are a destroyer,” Sebastian admitted, showing me his knife.
“What are you trying to say? I don't understand any of this,” I said as he placed the knife in my hand.
“It happened again….” Sebastian gasped looking at the knife in my hand in disbelief. He looked amazed, but it just confused me even further.
“What happened again?” I asked and he smiled, like he had won the best prize in the world or something.
“This is not a common weapon. This knife was handed down to me by my father on my birthday. One of the special aspects of this weapon is that I am the only one who can wield it. This weapon recognises its owner and no one else can use it. It changes in shape and size according to the time and situation, it becomes dangerous. But you were able to use it to kill the tentacles, which should have been absolutely impossible. During the millions of years that the creature has been coming out of the earth no one has been able to hurt it, let alone kill it. Yet by using my weapon you have made that possible. The identity of that creature has been erased from this world of ours,” Sebastian remarked. When I took a closer look at the knife I recognized that it was the same one that I had first seen Sebastian with when he saved my life. At that time though it had looked quite a bit bigger, but now it appeared to be a small knife.
“But if this weapon only recognises its owner and cannot be wielded by others then how did I manage to use it? Why did it listen to me?” I asked, confused.
“Because you are a holy person, the mark on your neck makes you even purer. You are fully capable of doing all the impossible things needed to fix this world. You can do anything and everything that no other individual can,” Sebastian replied. Even though I hadn't wanted to be, I was convinced of his argument.
“I need you to save my world. Please, help me.” Sebastian asked, but this time he wasn't his usual rude self.
“Even if I believed whatever you were telling was true. I still want to go back to my own world. This is not the place that I belong.” I said, handing him back the knife.
“I think it's high time for me to tell you the truth. You can never leave this world,” Sebastian disclosed, causing my body to shiver all over the moment I heard him say it.
“What? How do you know? There must be some way for me to go back, if I could come here then I should be able to go back there, right?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yes, there is a way,” Sebastian agreed, making me smile. I knew it.
“What way?” I asked, feeling excited.
“There is a door that is referred to as the door to another world. You can use that to go back to your world,” Sebastian explained, but I felt like there was some kind of catch that I wasn't going to like.
“So, where is this door?” I inquired, curiously.
“I would do anything to get to that door,” I said. Sebastian narrowed his eyes at me.
“Do what the hell have I been telling you to until now. If you want to go to that door then you have to save this world from the Draug. You would have to enter the palace where it is located, that is also where he lives,” Sebastian replied as my jaw dropped.
“WHAT?!” I shrieked and he just nodded.
“Yes, but there is something else that I want to tell you….” Sebastian paused, he sounded even more serious as he stared into my eyes.
“What?” I asked.
“When I saved you on the battlefield at that moment I noticed something. I have the ability to see a person's past, but when I touched you I did not see your past, but that of your parents,” Sebastian revealed. I was shocked when he had mentioned my parents.
“What? You saw something about my parents, but I’m an orphan. I have been since birth. I have no parents,” I argued.
“You had parents, you just don't remember them because you were only two years old when they died,” Sebastian disclosed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I hadn't known that I had parents, I used to curse God thinking that he hadn't sent me parents like he had all the other children. I used to hate my parents for giving me up and for giving up on me.
“How do you know? Who are you?” I asked, his blue eyes met mine.
“I am not human, I am a crowned prince of this world. I am the crowned prince Sebastian. I am a goblin,” Sebastian said, revealing his true identity. I looked him up and down in disbelief. He was a goblin?
“Your parents did not die, they were murdered,” Sebastian added. I felt as if the ground had slipped out from under my feet. Instead of feeling sad or crying, I felt fury coursing through my veins.
“Who killed my parents?” I asked through gritted teeth as I held the knife tighter.
“I…” A terrifying voice suddenly said, echoing through the entire clearing as everything around me changed. The light of the moon disappeared as the whole world plunged into utter darkness. The silence had been replaced by the scary voices, I don't know why but it felt like it was the same atmosphere that I had felt in my dream when that figure had appeared.
“He is here….” Sebastian said, growling in anger. I watched as a sword appeared in his hand. He looked dangerous as he tightened his grip around the hilt of the sword.
“Who is here?” I asked as I followed Sebastian’s gaze to the figure.
“The Draug,” Sebastian stated, as the same threatening figure stepped out of the darkness that had been in my dream before. I looked up at him, he was ten times bigger than a normal person, he had not come himself, He had sent his shadow in his stead. Just like Sebastian had told me, he never came himself even though he was here it was only in shadow form. So the Draug had cursed me, he was the reason I was here, he was the one who….
“I was the one who killed your parents,” he remarked. I gripped the knife even tighter, making it change into a sword due to my anger. Just like Sebastian had explained, the knife knew when it needed to transform.
“WHY?! WHY DID YOU KILL MY PARENTS?!!!” I angrily screamed at him. He was the reason I had been an orphan my whole life. He stared down at me with his greenish blue colored eyes, the only part of his form that had any color to it.
“Did I say that I killed them? I think I should correct myself, I not only killed them, I ate them raw,” he clarified. My eyes widened when I heard him say that he had eaten my parents.
“They tried their best to hide you from me, but in the end I found you and triggered your rebirth into this world. I do have a small gift for you as a welcome gift for your arrival to the World of the Undead, it's on its way,” he remarked. I heard the same sounds that I had earlier. I quickly stepped away from the river when I looked at the ground it seemed as if something was emerging from it.
My mouth fell open as I watched whatever it was rising from the ground, it looked like a rotten corpse. I looked around and noticed that there wasn't just one of these things, they were coming from everywhere and there were hundreds of them coming out of the ground. I looked at one of them up and down when it had fully emerged from the ground, I saw that its eyes were closed and its flesh was rotten all over. I realized what it was when it was too late.
“It's a zombie,” I said, as the zombie opened its eyes. This was the gift that he had been talking about. I looked at the Draug only to find that he had already vanished from the clearing, as if he had faded away.
“See you soon destroyer,” he called before completely vanishing, leaving us amongst the zombies.
“These zombies are one of his armies,” Sebastian explained, as we moved closer to one another taking up our positions with our swords.
“Now, are you ready to fight these zombies….destroyer?” Sebastian asked, smirking as he looked at me.
“No, I am ready to fight with the Draug,” I replied, seething in rage.
