*Omario POV*
I stand on the balcony on Oli’s bedroom and watch her. She is aware that I am standing behind her but does not turn to look at me.
“Babe.” I call her softly but she does not respond.
“Oli.”
She finally turns around to look at me and I can tell by her swollen red eyes that she has been crying.
“Go away!” She yells angrily.
“I know that you loved him but he disobeyed me. You know the rules.”
“You killed him for a slave!”she scornfully spits out her saliva.
I flinch at that word. I don’t know why it bothers me.
“Does she f**k you that good that you had to kill my uncle for her?” Oli asks while glaring at me. She is really lucky that I have a soft spot for her. Someone else I would have torn apart already.
I remain calm before walking and standing right beside her. “I will let that slide because you are sad and angry.”
“I am not angry, I am furious, Omario. We are engaged but you claim a slave, making me a laughing stock and on top of that you kill my uncle for her.”
“I have my reasons for claiming her and your uncle brought this unto himself.”
I am not willingly to apologise for my actions even to her. Sylvester, just like all dad’s friends, was a scumbag and did not deserve to live.
“Do those reasons have anything to do with what’s between her legs?” she scorns.
I stare at her in disbelief. I don’t recall ever hearing her so disrespectful before. I let it slide again and blame it on grief, but she continues.
“Is that what you like, Omario? A lowly slave, a w***e, who will open her legs for anyone with any sense of authority? You like sharing, is that it?” her condescending sneer steers uncomfortable feelings inside me. My fists involuntarily clench. I need to get out of here before I do something I will regret later.
“You are angry, I get that but don’t cross the line.” I warn sternly and feel Titan fuming inside. The bastard is back and acting strange as usual.
“She’s our mate and hurting, you i***t!” I rebuke my fuming wolf. Abi, he will tolerate and even go out of his way to defend but not our mate.
“Yes, Your Majesty.” Oli responds sarcastically. Put Titan aside, she is really testing my patience now.
“I came to explain myself to you as a curtesy because we are engaged, I will go now.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty. How gracious of you to do that, I am grateful, Your Highness.”
I shake my head at her sarcasm and leave her without saying another word. She is still standing on the same spot when I get into my car. I can see her shoulders shake as I drive away and I can’t help but feel like an a*s.
My anger erupts out of control when I get into the castle and see Abi and another servant by the garden wearing rugs. It seems the women are out to test my patience today.
“Your Majesty.”
They curtsy right before I roughly grab her, carry her over my shoulder and head to my chambers.
“Yo..ur Majesty?” she stutters.
“I claimed you, I expect you to look the part. I got you the damn clothes. Insisting on wearing these filthy rugs is disobedience. I will not tolerate it.”
She nods her head and literally shrinks in front of me. Great, I feel like an a*s again.
I sigh and sit on my bed. This is not what I want to sound like. I decide to use Titan’s strategy to let her explain her actions.
“Why don’t you tell me what your problem with the clothes I got you is.”
She looks suspiciously at me before responding.
“I did not mean any disrespect, Your Majesty.”
Her soft voice melts all the rage I felt a few minutes ago.
“Abi, talk to me.”
“I am pretty sure that it is against the servant rules to wear such quality clothes. I might end up in the guillotine room again if I am seen wearing them.”
I sigh. I did not think of this. It’s exactly the same thing I did when I forced her to eat the night before.
“Again, you need to stop thinking you know what’s good for her.” Trust my stupid wolf to rub it in.
“I am sorry, I did not think of that.” I confess before I notice that she’s is not her usual self.
“What is it?”
She looks at me and chokes, breaking my heart.
“Abi?”
“You saved me from Blake and you saved my arm. I think you are a good person but why do you want Terrence dead?” Her voice is now like a whisper.
“Who said I want him dead?”
She is making no sense at all.
“You choose him as your Gamma.”
“That’s the opposite of wanting him dead.”
“Not when Blake is done with him.” She looks away and her body trembles.
“Abi, look at me.”
“He is my friend. He did nothing wrong.” She starts sobbing and my heart breaks. I get off the bed and pull her in my arms.
“Abi.”
She continues sobbing.
“Woman! Talk to me!”
Something must be happening with Terrence for her to sob like this and I need to know what.
“Blake is not happy, he is killing him.”
“f**k! Take me there.”
She is still teary when she holds my arm and runs out of my chambers, down the hallway and towards the stables. I don’t feel and electric shocks when she holds me. I wonder how that works.
I thought I was fit in my human form but this battered, malnourished woman is really fast. I can see why it’s taking longer and longer for dad’s sick hunting club to catch up to her every Friday. I am lagging behind by the time I shift and let Titan take over. He quickly dashes forward towards the stables and leaves Abi far behind. Terrence is on the ground, his face is covered with blood and Blake is angrily pounding on him. I know that Terence is stronger than Blake but as a servant he can’t fight against dad’s Gamma. He is just laying there and taking the beating.
This is my fault, I put him in this situation. I selfishly chose him without giving a second thought of how it would affect his life. I left him exposed to this.
Titan howls causing Blake to quickly jump off Terrence and bow before him.
“Your Majesty.”
Titan growls, showing his sharp teeth and charges forward ready to attack.
There’s so much noise from the servants cheering Titan on but it is a gentle breathless whisper that stops him on his tracks.
“Titan, No.”
He turns around and makes eyes contact with her.
“They will blame his death on Terrence. He will never have peace, even as your Gamma.” She whispers again as I shift back. I signal Blake to get lost and he makes a run for it while the other servants rush to Terrence’s side to help him up.
My eyes turn back to Abi, who is still over ten meters away from me. She said something about never celebrating a loss of life when I killed Kane and Sylvester, not this.
“You did not say the same thing about Kane and Sylvester. The same thing applies to you about their deaths.”
I am too far from her, I whisper this to myself but she breaks contact with me.
Ha! She supposedly has no wolf and should not hear me at this distance, but she does! I wonder what else she can do.
“You are planning on running away…”
That’s the only reason she would not worry about forever being blamed for the deaths like she fears for her friend.
She swallows her saliva, confirming my suspicions.
That is definitely good for her and might be best to get her raging hateful beast away from here. It will keep me safe and unfortunately, my evil dad too. Titan would be happy but I still want to know more about her and why her beast hates me. She’s not going anywhere until I get my answers.
