“I said, let me go…” Zene's sudden scream startled Erlik and he instantly let go of her hands. Zene walked back few steps as soon as she was released. “I… Uhh.. I'm sorry for that. But now you have to tell me where do you go every night?” He asked her again. “I like to roam around seaside at night. It gives me a feeling of peace. Having a little alone time makes my mind calm and my sadness to go away. You got your answer. Can I go now?” She said sternly. “Not yet. Do you know the Mermaid with white tail and white hair?” Erlik's question made her scared. She knows that her secrets will definitely get reveled today. “No. I don't know any Mermaid with that description.” She still lied to hide it from the devil. “I know you have a connection with her. I'm not letting you go until you tell me the truth.” Erlik took one step forward and crossed his arms to show his determination. “I told you, I don't know her. Why don't you understand it? You can ask every single person of this island, and they will give you the same answer. There is no such girl as a white Mermaid.” She literally shouted at Erlik to prove her point, but it didn't affect a bit to him because he saw that Mermaid with his own eyes. Not only once, but twice. He's sure that she was real. If Zene told him the first time, he might think over it one more time but after seeing her clearly the previous night, Erlik's sure that his savior exists. Erlik has a doubt that there is a missing link between Zene and the white Mermaid which he isn't finding out because he saw them both out at night and from a nearby place from each other. What if Zene is the white Mermaid? But she has black hair, not white. On the other side the white Mermaid was burned in her hand and Zene always keeps her wrist hidden. That caught Erlik's attention. Why Zene always hides her wrist from everyone. Even the day she was bruised by him, she fought with Erlik to keep her wrist hidden. Erlik realized that it is the only way to prove that Zene's the white Mermaid. “Let me see your hand.” His sudden order shocked Zene. “What?” She asked to make sure she heard it right. “Show me your hand.” Erlik repeat. “No… Why do I have to show you my hand?” She hid her hand into her back again. “If you want to prove that you don't know the Mermaid I'm talking about, then show me your hand. It's a very simple task.” He said with a smirk because he knew she's getting caught. “How are you going to prove that by seeing my hand?” Zene started fidgeting to see that he's going to catch her. “You don't need to worry about that. Just show me your hand or should I do it myself?” His threat made Zene look at his eyes. She saw that he's determined to see her hands, and she's not getting out of it anymore. Besides, she doesn't want to get back into their previous position while he tries to look at her hands. “Fine. Here…” Zene forwarded her unharmed hand to Erlik as he looked at it once. “Not this one. The other one.” He pointed towards the hand that Zene was still holding back. “You said to show you my hand, and I did it. You didn't say which one. The deal is over, and I'm not listening to you anymore. I'm going away from here now. Goodbye.” Saying this Zene was about to turn around when Erlik caught her other hand and took it forward. Without wasting any time, he removed the flower bracelet that was covering her wound and reveled it out. He was right. He saw the burned mark on her wrist, he was searching for. He realized that Zene is the white Mermaid who saved him the day he came to the surface. “How did this happen?” Erlik gave an evil smile to her and asked her. “It's… Uhh… It's the bruise you made yesterday.” She tried to lie to him but inside she knew that she's caught. “Really? This doesn't seem like a bruise mark to me… It looks more like a burned mark. Admit it that you are the white Mermaid.” Zene started thinking of a plan to save her secret. "Why do you think that I'm a white Mermaid? Do you see any of those kinds features on me to prove that I'm the Mermaid you hallucinated about?" She knows that he doesn't have any proof against what she's saying. “I don't have to prove anything. I know who you are. This mark on your hand is a living proof of my truth.” Erlik was getting a little angry from her continues denial. “And how do you know it's a burn mark? How can a hand print leave a burned mark on me?” That stopped Erlik. He knew that, to give her answer he has to admit that he's a devil. And there's no way he can do that. “I know the truth and I don't need to prove anything to anyone.” He said to her angrily. “You're saying these words now because you know that everything you saw was your hallucination. None of that is true.” Zene started smiling now because she knows Erlik can't go against her words now. “Don't test my patience princess. Don't keep lying to me because I have my ways to prove the truth.” Erlik has gotten furious by not being able to prove the truth by now. “Stop bluffing and stop imagining things like this. You won't get any results out of it. There's no such things as a white Mermaid that exists in this world. Now forget everything and go back to your normal life.” Zene said Erlik her final words as she thought she won this fight. “Fine then. I will get the proof of my truth from you.” Saying this he started walking backwards to the cliff. Zene couldn't understand what he was doing until he reached the end of the cliff. Her eyes widen to realize what he was trying to do, and she tried to stop him. “What are you doing? Stop… Get away from the cliff.” She ordered him. “I'm proving my truth to you. See you down princess.” Saying this, he jumped off the cliff. “Nooo...” Zene ran to the end of the cliff to see Erlik falling down on the ocean below. She stood in her place for a minute to see if he comes up or not. But when she saw that he was not coming up of the water, she got scared. She knew that Erlik is a devil and devil's doesn't know how to swim. Erlik's not coming up yet and that means he's drowning in the ocean. Only Zene is the one who was present at that moment to save him. So without wasting any more time, she jumped off the cliff too. Shifting into her Mermaid form in midway of her falling, her body hit the ocean water. As soon as she reached the depth of the ocean, she started searching for Erlik here and there. After few more seconds of searching, she finally found Erlik who was trying his best to get upwards. She quickly swam to him and dragged him out of the water. And once he was finally able to breathe, he started coughing furiously. Zene dragged him out of the water somehow and managed to take him a little high from the ocean level. Getting tired of dragging a heavy man, she gave up midway and sat back with Erlik, while half of their body was still on water. They both were huffing from this little event. “Are you crazy? Why did you jump off a cliff?” Zene shouted out once she caught her breath normal. “I had to prove myself. And I did. You gave me the proof that you are the white Mermaid.” Erlik said with a smile. “You're a really stupid man. What if you had hit a rock in your fall?” It wiped the smile out of Erlik's face. “Uhh… That I didn't think before. I was too angry to think about my action clearly.” He said while squeezing the excess water from his hair. “So what now? What will you get from getting proof of me being a white Mermaid? Why this is so important to you?” Zene asked him as she looked at his face. “I don't like it when someone tells me that I'm wrong. Now I can tell everyone that what I saw that day was real. I was truly saved by a white Mermaid.” Hearing it Zene got angry. He did all this to prove that what he saw was real. He wants to reveal the secret the Zene kept hidden for almost two years, just for this silly reason. “If you tell anyone about my secret, I promise you that I will also tell everyone about your truth. Don't think that I don't know who you are.” Zene said angrily. “And who am I? How are you going to stop me from telling everyone the truth?” Erlik asked as he thought that she didn't know who he was, and she was just bluffing to keep him quiet. “I know you are a devil. Only devil's have the power of fire in them. The burned hand print on my wrist is the proof of the truth.” Zene threatened him. “You won't dare it? To tell my secret to everyone, you have to tell who you are and the fact that you brought me into your land and kept the secret this long.” Erlik's threaten her in return making Zene more angry. “Don't think that those reasons will stop me. If you tell anyone that I'm a white Mermaid, I'll tell everyone your secret. Even though I get caught, it won't matter to anyone much. But if my family gets to know that you are a devil, they will surely kill you. Now you have to decide what you want. Proving your truth or staying alive.” Saying this she got up and walked out of that as Erlik kept staring at him in shock. Erlik never thought that an innocent looking girl can become so dangerous at a time. He thought that she would except her defeat, and he would tell everyone that what he saw was real. But everything went other way. Instead of Zene, Erlik is the one who got at the edge of getting caught. He can't say anything to anyone now because if he did, Zene will surely reveal his truth and all his plans will fail. He would make his father disappointed in the only one mission he sent him for. So he thought it's better if he stays quiet until he succeeds in this mission. Sitting on his place, he kept thinking about all the event that happened to him now. While thinking these, he realized that Zene was helping him out since he came to the surface. She saved his life not only once but three times now. She saved him from drowning in water for two times and once more by keeping his identity a secret. He was grateful for his savior until he knew who that white Mermaid was. Now that he gets to know her identity, he threatened her in place of thanking her for everything. Zene kept his secret for these days but in return he threatened her to reveal her secret. He felt really guilty of everything he did to her. On the other hand he kept remembering her smiling face, her cheerful words and her beautiful white Mermaid form. He remembered how she saved him two times instead of knowing his truth. He realized that even knowing after he's a Devil, she kept behaving nicely with him instead of being scared. She is one unique girl not only for her beauty but in nature also. And he realized that he has fallen in love with her more after knowing her truth.
