Chapter 4

Axel's POV

When Dax sent me a mind link and said that he found our mate I couldn't believe it. I had wanted to find my mate for so long and when we didn't I settled for Amber. We had been together for a year and I thought she was great. She was beautiful and kind. Well, I thought she was kind but she did have a reputation for just wanting things her way and it came across differently. I didn't love her but I could spend my life with her and she could give us strong pups. I had been pressuring Dax to make her our chosen Luna but he refused.

I had told Amber that there was a situation at the bar with Dax and left her sitting on my couch but when I got to the bar I wasn't expecting to find the most beautiful human to be our mate. She was short even with her heels on we were a good eight inches taller, but there was something different about her. She knew about us and kept calling us mutts. Dax and I were both getting mad at her for that but she wouldn't come clean about how she knew.

She had just run off and we were standing there staring at each other.

"Wyatt, where are you?" I mind-linked him.

"Dancing."

"Your future Luna just ran out of the bar. Find her and follow her home. It's the short blonde with a black dress that Dax has been talking to."

"On it, sir." He linked back.

"What the hell was that?" I asked my brother.

"I don't know but there is something different about her. She definitely knows what we are, but the question is how."

"We need to find out more about her before we get too invested with her," I told my brother but I think he was already gone. He had wanted his mate and wouldn't settle for anything else.

"I thought maybe we could just kidnap her and keep her forever," Dax said.

"What no, that is wrong on so many levels."

"Calm down it was a joke."

"Let's go home. I left Amber sitting on the couch."

"You need to get rid of her right now," he growled at me.

"I will but I want to wait and see what happens with our little mate."

"It's Cat. Well, that's what her friend called her."

"Who is her friend? Maybe she can help us."

"Last I saw her, she was basically humping RJ on the couch upstairs."

I didn't say anything else to my brother and went up the stairs and found that she was still doing that. Her arousal filled the room and I am pretty sure that he had his fingers in her. She was rocking her hips and moaning a lot. I cleared my throat to get their attention and glared at RJ.

"Sorry, sir. I didn't know you were here." He said looking slightly embarrassed, however, the girl sitting on his lap didn't look embarrassed at all.

"I need to know about your friend that was here?" I asked her.

"Cat?" She asked looking confused.

"Yes, her."

"Where did she go?"

"Home."

"Why?"

"You will have to ask her but I need to know about her. What does she do for a living?"

"Well she says she works in marketing but I have never seen someone work in marketing at the hours she does."

"Does she have any family?"

"No, she was an only child, and both her parents died. I am all she has left. She is pretty private but we have been friends for most of our lives."

"RJ tread carefully with this one. Her friend is important to us." I linked with him and then walked out of the room.

"Don't worry she isn't going anywhere. She is my mate, and also my perfect f*****g match." He linked back.

"Don't mark her yet." I linked back and continued out of the bar, with Dax on my heels.

I made it to my car and Dax got in with me. Neither one of us said anything. Our minds were both on our mate and how we can win her over and bring her here. She seemed to not like us.

"I want to keep this under wraps until we can figure out what is going on with her and how she knows what we are. She seems to hate our kind."

"I agree Ax, but seriously I need to find her. I need to know she is safe."

"I sent Wyatt out to follow her home."

"Good, at least we will know where she lives."

"You can't just go to her place. We have to play this carefully."

I pulled into the garage at the pack house. We both went upstairs to our floor and separate rooms. My parents still lived up here but they traveled a lot so we didn't see them much. They said once we found our Luna they would give up their place which was more like an apartment with bedrooms. We just had little mini apartments with one bedroom and bathroom and a small kitchen and living room. Dax headed straight to his room and I went to mine.

I walked in and could smell that Amber was still there. I used to welcome that smell but now I didn't like it. It was a little nauseating. My wolf Skoll was pissed in my head. He didn't mind Amber but now he wanted her out right now.

"Skoll calm down. It's late and she is asleep. We will break it off with her tomorrow. I can't kick her out at this time."

"Fine, but you're sleeping on the couch."

"I can do that."

I went and grabbed a blanket and stripped down to my underwear and tried to get comfy on the couch. My mind instantly went to my little mate. Her berries and cream scent had intoxicated me and how little she was it was cute. When Dax pushed her up against me I could feel how hard her body was. She definitely did a lot of working out. She was strong. We still had so much to figure out. I was questioning why the moon goddess would pair us with a human. I fell asleep thinking about her.

I was woken up by Amber Stradling me and grinding herself on my hard c**k. I let out a moan thinking of my little mate but when I opened my eyes it was Amber. I jumped up and threw her off me. She landed on the floor and gave me a dirty look.

"What's wrong baby? Why did you sleep on the couch?" She asked getting up off the floor.

"Sorry Amber, I didn't mean to throw you off like that."

She took that as an invitation to climb back on me but I stopped her midway and placed her beside me.

"Amber, we need to talk."

"Is this about what happened last night with Dax? What kind of trouble did he get himself into? I just wish you would let me go to him and try to convince him about joining us." She said looking concerned.

"Amber, we talked about this and said that if either of us found our mates we would call it off and Dax found our mate last night."

You could see her face fall but she tried to cover it quickly.

"That's fantastic Axel, who is she?"

"She is a human. It's something we are going to have to take slowly." I explained to her. She deserved the truth.

She climbed back on me and started kissing my neck.

"Since she is human, we could still fool around until you told her the truth. She would never know." She said between kisses.

"No, I won't do that to my mate," I told her and Skoll was trying to push forward. He didn't like what she was implying.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes. I had broken her heart and felt bad about that but we went into this very clearly with each other.

"Please don't cry, Amber. I know we cared for each other, but we knew what would happen if either of us found our mate."

"I know but I love you. I wanted to be with you and I was willing to let your brother join us because I know that's how it works with twins."

"Amber, I never loved you but I do care for you and hope that we can remain friends," I told her. I knew it was a little harsh but she needed to be told the truth.

She crawled off my lap and just shook her head, and then walked off back to the bedroom. I needed to shower and then talk with my brother about what we wanted to do with our little mate.

I got up and went to my bedroom where Amber was packing her things. I just looked at her for a minute and then continued on to the bathroom to get my shower. I turned the water on to let it heat up while I took my underwear off and brushed my teeth, once done with that I stepped into the shower and let the hot water run down my body for a few minutes.

"Ax, you need to woo our mate. You need to take her on a date. Show her some romance," Skoll linked me.

"We will but first we need to talk with Dax. We have to do this with him," I told him back.

"Fine but you better do it fast. We need her here. I need her."

I cut my link because he was going to drive me nuts. I know he wasn't wrong but we needed to tread lightly with her. I got out of the shower and went to my bedroom, Amber was gone and all traces of her were. I quickly got dressed.

"Dax meet me in our office," I sent him a mind link.

"It's too early."

"We need to talk about our little mate."

He didn't reply to that. I am sure that got his attention. I finished getting ready for the day and headed to our office. I was hoping that we could convince her to go on a date with us. I tried to busy myself with paperwork while I waited for Dax to show up.

Thirty minutes later he walked in. He had taken a shower and looked ready for the day.

"What do you have?" He asked me.

"Well, I was hoping we could convince her to go on a date with us."

"How do you suppose we do that when we don't have a way to contact her."

"Wyatt was supposed to follow her home and get her address and RJ is mated to her best friend. I am sure we can work something between the two of them."

"Wait, RJ is also mated to a human?"

"I thought it was weird also. It's not often that wolves get mated to a human and now there are three of us."

"Rocky is driving me nuts. He wants me to storm to her place right now and claim her."

"I know Skoll is wanting me to do the same"

"Let's get Wyatt up here and see what he found out about her."

I sent Wyatt a mind link to come up here. The gamma's job was to protect their luna and so I know he would follow through on getting what we needed. It didn't take him long to get up here. He walked in without knocking.

"Wyatt, what did you find last night?" Dax asked him the second he shut the door.

"She lives in Mountian View Complexes. The sheet on the outside said apartment 204."

"Did you find anything else?" I asked.

"No, I stayed and watched most of the night and she never left."

"Thanks, this is enough for us to get started."

"Let me know if there is anything else I can do."

"There will be but we need to find out more about her first."

He nodded and just left.

"So what do you think?" I asked Dax.

"Well, we need to go slow. What if we send her flowers asking her to meet us somewhere? This way it's her choice and she feels safe."

"What if she doesn't show up?"

"Then we hunt her down and drag her back here, or we leave our numbers on the card and she can contact us if the time doesn't work."

"Fine, you send them. What day?"

"Thursday?"

"That works."

"Also you need to get rid of Amber."

"I already did this morning."
