I barely had the time to process what the Alpha King had just said when he waved his hand to dismiss me. I was still confused as I bowed once again and turned on my heels to leave. Beta Smith seemed to notice my confusion because he motioned me to slow down while he got up to walk by my side. Together, we walked out of the council room.
My thoughts were all over the place. Start a family? What was he on about and why did he think having a mate was important to me? It might have been important to me at some point of my life, but not anymore. I had achieved so much in six years, and I did not wish to halt any of it to get married.
