Chapter 6 : She needs to know her place

Two weeks later

Camilla got ready for work as she was reporting back, since that morning she never saw Nick

Maybe it’s because she was always out and only coming back late at night.

She got her bags and drove away for work. She reached and out looking all beautiful, she was in a beige skinny office pant, white shirt, a small red belt and dark blue jacket. She carried her bags as she confidently walked in.

“Morning! Welcome back?” Michelle came running towards Camilla.

Camilla smiled looking at Michelle who was acting like a child

“I missed you too!” Camilla said hugging her

“I didn’t say I missed you” Michelle said to Camilla hugging her

“You didn’t but your actions did Camilla said raising her eye brows while smiling

“Of course, I didn't miss you! I am just doing what any normal person would do!” Michelle said and Camilla just smiled holding her hand.

“Adrian will be happy to see you. He really struggled working with me” Michelle said

“Are you being for real right now? Because from where I stand you might end up losing your job” Camilla said

“Might just resign. Working with that demon of a CEO is hard. Do you know that he asked me to do?” Michelle vented out about how it will nit be easy to work with Nikolas

“What did he ask you to do?” Camilla asked acting unconcerned about what she was saying.

“He asked me to bring him each and every damn file about the financial reports from all the branches of this company” Michelle said

“That’s not bad am sure it was just for a few months, right?” Camilla said sipping from her cup of coffee,

“Months? He wanted from over a year ago, how f****d up is that?” Michelle said and Camilla almost choked on the coffee as some spilled on her white top

“I know right? It’s crazy, His so delusional Michelle went on to talk about nick as Camilla tried to clean up her top

“I now understand why he is not married at that age! I mean who would want to be around to such a pain of a man! I mean what was so hard about him just looking at the entered data, rather than ask for those files. I may not be a CEO but at least I know how to treat fellow human being” Michelle said not realizing that Nick had stood by the door way.

“AM sure he didn’t mean it that way, but anyway who knows maybe he wanted to be checking you out” Camilla said as she lifted her head to start working only to be met with Nick’s disappointed eyes

“Checking me out where? I would rather be single and alone than date that man. Nikolas is just somebody that I can’t deal with, I would rather resign than deal with such attitude.!” Michelle said as she kept playing on her phone and Camilla tried so much to warn Michelle about the third person behind her but to no avail.

“You know what I think? I think he needs to get laid to let off some steam” Michelle said and Camilla tapped on the table looking at Michelle with widened eyes signaling her to look behind.

“What???” Michelle said as she turned to look behind her only to find nick standing there her eyes widened not sure what to say seeing him

“Miss Jones, right?” Nick said to Michelle and she just nodded her head

“I want your resignation this afternoon, you can start clearing your table” Nick said and Michelle couldn’t believe that she was just fired.

“Oh and Ms. Edwards? I will want to see you in my office before our management meeting” Nick said as he walked out of the office

“Did I just get fired?” Michelle asked Camilla turning to face her

“I think you just did get fired” Camilla said nodding her head

“But I can’t lose my job! Where will I find the money to settle my bills?” Michelle asked as tears filled up her eyes.

“I thought you wanted to resign?” Camilla asked looking at Michelle

“No, I still have some things to sort out before I can resign. Cammy what will I do?” Michelle asked her friend who guiltily just sat there

“I don’t know Michelle! I guess you went to far this time” Camilla replied

“No! I can’t lose my job!” Michelle cried and Camilla just sat there wondering what Nick wanted to talk to her about.

Camilla’s POV

After trying to calm Michelle who just got fired because of her foul mouth for 45 minutes I fixed up myself and made my way to Nick’s office. I didn’t know what to expect from him but I just had to because he asked me to. No actually he commanded me!

I reached his office and knocked twice before letting myself in his office, I looked around and it had a different touch unlike when Gerald was using it. I stood before him and looked into his eyes as I held my hands together.

“You wanted to see me?” I asked him seeing he wasn’t acting like there was someone in his office

“Yes. I will attend to you shortly!” He said looking at his laptop, I stood there waiting for him to at least offer me a seat. He picked up his phone and dialed whoever he was calling as I stood there.

“Hi baby! I like the fourth option I think it would look perfect on you” He said, I stood there starting to look around the office as it was awkward for me

“Okay great! Love you lots! Bye” He said after the other person had said what he/she was saying.

“Ms. Edwards! Adrian tells me that you are one of the most competent juniors he has” Nick said

“I believe so?’’ I replied not sure this was going

“Am glad you agree, if I send my female employee to do her job does that mean I am ‘checking’ her out?” He asked and I knew this was not going to end well

“About earlier I can …...” I wanted to say but he chipped in

“Ms. Edwards just because you have dated colleagues one of your doesn’t mean that every man that comes in this company wants to sleep with you or your friend, I see why the man left you because probably you had started checking out the risk management manager?” He said and I tried by all mean to fight back my tears, how could he talk to me like this? He knew nothing about me.

“I will let this one slide but make sure that from now on you watch what you say because you will be the next one to leave” He said to me and I simply nodded my head to avoid talking

“Great! Am glad you understand, you can leave my office” He said and I gave him a small nod as I turned to leave

“Ms. Edwards?” he called me and I slowly turned to him

“you are an asset to this company, don’t make me fire you!” He said and I just nodded my head as I walked out of the office……

Nick’s POV

After an hour I went for the management meeting, I looked around and noticed Camilla didn’t come for the meeting, “Is this everyone?” I asked looking at Adrian

“Ms. Edwards will be running late!” Adrian said and I smiled knowing that I made my place known here, I don’t like women who underestimate me and Camilla seemed like one of those women. “just as I was thinking about that I saw her rushing in and her eyes seemed swollen and I knew she was probably crying.

“Ms. Edwards you will be joining us for the meeting, please excuse us!” I said to her and she was puzzled but she turned around and Left the room

“We can go on with the meeting. Ms. Jones please lock the door!” I said as I started the meeting, everyone looked puzzled to hear that I requested that the door be locked.
