In a tense mood, Sherry walks back and forth the front patio of the Pack House where everyone is waiting for the esteemed guests. She has been trying to formulate an escape plan but that's useless because her mother can easily see through her lies.
As she's in the middle of doing all these, all of a sudden, she feels the same pull she felt back at the party and she immediately knows that her goose is cooked!
She's about to bid goodbye to her freedom.
Her heart thuds rapidly and heavily with just the scent that comes from miles away and she perfectly understands that there's no way out of this one anymore.
“What's the matter with you Sherry? Would you sit down or just stay still!?” her mother reprimands her behaviour, but she's far too nervous to stop fidgeting.
“Are you not feeling well? You can go and take a rest, if you're sick again.” her father says in concern, something that makes her turn to him quickly, her hope renewed.
She knows she can always count on her dad!
Just as she's about to agree and free her soul from all these, cars start pulling up one by one at the parking spots beside their Pack House.
The pull is now stronger than before and she's now sure that there is no more escaping out of this situation. She has to face it head on this time round...no escape at all!
Alpha Harvey's family lines up beside each other as they wait for the guests to descend off their vehicles. The Pack's Beta and Gamma are also present as well as other workers of the Pack House.
Sherry watches in anticipation as the men get off their cars one by one, eagerly hoping that Zack Daniels won't be one of them.
But who's she kidding? He is among them! A perfectly handsome man, tall, but not too tall...a good foot taller than Sherry, let's say. His hair is a shade of brown that matches his lightly tanned skin. He's wearing a pair of brown khaki pants and a cream white polo t-shirt, almost boring, but on him it looks formal.
It's evident he has been feeling the same pull as Sherry because his green eyes look around until they rested on her. From where he's standing, the sunlight is on him and so Sherry is able to clearly see the emotion in his eyes.
At first, he seems shocked, but then he looks down as he walks towards the family and then he looks back up with a smirk as if he's also telling Sherry that she's doomed.
Sherry suspects that the blonde haired man next to him is his Beta or Gamma since she recognises him a bit, but they were never formally acquainted. She always saw him during their training days when they were younger.
Their other Pack mates are walking behind him and they stop when they are a short distance away from the Alpha's family.
However, Zack doesn't stop walking. His steps are heading to Sherry and she's now panicking since she can feel the curious eyes of those people around her.
Her heart is beating so loud that it is deafening her and her ever active brain has now gone completely blank.
He's now a few meters away but she's just crossing her fingers. She's praying that he doesn't move closer to her. She's just holding her breath!
She thought the pull couldn't get any stronger but with each step he takes, the strength amplifies.
She can't breath...she can't just stand there helpless and wait for him.
At the moment of panic, she turns around ready to walk away as fast as she can, but she feels a hand stopping her by getting hold of her arm. As soon as their skins come into contact, Sherry freezes at the shock that she feels. No, it doesn't hurt, in fact, it's the opposite.
The wave of shock travels everywhere, making her feel calm, at peace and at ease.
“It wasn't drugged.” these are Zack's first words and her eyebrows meet at the confusion of what he's trying to say, but then she remembers the lame excuse that she made up when they met back at the party.
Sherry recalls pretending that the mate pull that they both were feeling that day, almost a month ago, was because of drugs in their food or drinks, hence promising to meet him after around one hour, which obviously never happened.
“Huh....I guess the one hour is over?” she says quite nervously, her breath slightly ragged and hoarse.
“Oh, believe me, it has been long over.” Zack says, tugging the end of his lip upward.
Everyone else gathers around them, especially Sherry's parents and her brother Jeff and his mate, their current Luna, Betty.
Everyone else around them has confused looks and Sherry takes a deep breath....she knows perfectly well that she has some explaining to do. She wriggles her arm free from Zack's hold.
“Uh, what's going on?” Jeffrey asks, his eyes switching from the Alpha of the East to Sherry, trying to connect the invisible dots.
Sherry sighs again and takes a few steps in front where everyone can see her so that they will all be able to hear the great news from her.
She first bows her head in respect to her parents who have done their best to raise her and next, to her current Alpha, who also happens to be her elder brother.
“I'd like to announce that I have found my mate.” she says as she keeps her head bowed. She can hear the gasps of her parents and those around them, both from their Pack and the Pack mates of Zack Daniels.
Raising her head, she's greeted with the surprised face of her parents. Her dad is already holding onto her mom so as not to let her fall from the shock.
Perfectly reading the situation, Zack stands a step away from Sherry.
“My mate is Alpha Zack Daniels.” she says as she keeps her eyes on her parents the whole time. Her father sighs and she knows that once he's going to get back into the house, he's going to open a bottle of cold beer to calm his nerves.
As for her mother, Sherry wants to see if she's going to be happy. She knows that she always hoped that her daughter's mate would be an Alpha and that's the reason why she raised her teaching her how to be a future Luna although that had no guarantee.
Sherry's mother's face shows some conflicts.
Unexpectedly, Zack also bows his head towards sherry's parents for a while and then looks back up. “It seems, things have turned out to be this way. I'm Zack Daniels, nice to meet you.”
“Alright, I think we can talk about this inside?” Jeff says, something which each of them agrees. “Bruno, tell the Pack workers to usher the Pack members of Mystic into their rooms and prepare the food. Now, please, let us all go inside.”
“So you're telling me that you both met at the party a few weeks ago but Sherry ran away?” Sherry's mother summarises the story that Zack and her daughter has just recounted.
That leaves Sherry's father, brother and Zack's Beta Cyrus laughing, but not her mother. She doesn't appear thrilled at all. She knows her daughter is a drama queen but she didn't expect her to go to that extend. She didn't raise her to be a coward!
“Well, that's a very Sherry thing to do, isn't it?” her father says as he chuckles some more.
“I'm so sorry, you must've been surprised by her actions.” her mother seconds.
Zack shakes his head lightly with a small smile on his lips.
“I guess that's the purpose of your visit today? I heard that you've visited a few Packs.” Jeff asks, sending his sister Sherry a teasing smile.
“Yeah sure. We were also trying to trace some suspicious activities of some rogues, but fate just works its wonders, doesn't it?”
'Fate? Does Zack really know the meaning of that word?' Sherry wonders.
“Well then Zack, Sherry here is a bit of a trouble maker, but she is a good girl.” Sherry's father assures him, making Sherry to send him a killing glare because it sounds like he's easily letting her go, which is the truth anyway....
Zack turns to Sherry for a few seconds and then smiles making her heart to drop.
She suddenly wonders why he needs to smile like that. Isn't that foul play!?
“Yes sir.” he says as he grins even more, making my wolf to purr in my head excitedly. His smile is intoxicating.
“Well then, I think we can start eating so as to let our guests rest. I'm sure they are feeling tired, besides Alpha Zack and Sherry have a lot to catch up on.” Sherry's mother says and everyone agrees.
