Hannah lay in the hospital bed, scrolling through her phone, trying to distract herself from the dull ache in her body. The nurse had just handed Mia a slip of paper with a list of medicines, saying, “These are the supplements she needs.” “Don’t worry, I’ll get it right now.” Mia stood up, folding the paper and giving a quick nod. “Ah, thank you,” she said, before turning to leave the room.
Before Mia could exit, Hannah quickly reached for her credit card and handed it over to her. “Mia, here. Take this and pay for the bill.”
Mia glanced at the card, waving it off casually. “Come on, babe, I can pay for you.”
Without even looking up from her phone, Hannah insisted, “Please, Mia. I’m living with you, and that’s enough. Go ahead and use it.”
