"Stop the car," Hannah said abruptly. Jessica was confused. She looked at Hannah and asked, "Why did you ask to stop the car? We're going home, right?"
Hannah rolled her eyes and said, "I’m not going home. I’m not going to that house. You are going to that house. Leave me here. I’m staying with one of my friends and I’m going to rent an apartment. I don’t want to step into your house."
Jessica gritted her teeth and tightly gripped Hannah's arm. "Have you lost your mind, you stupid girl? You are coming with me. You will live with me until I settle you with another one."
Hannah stared at her in disbelief. "What? What do you mean by settling me with another one? Have you lost your mind?"
"I haven’t lost my mind, you stupid girl. You are coming with me and that’s final."
Hannah removed her hand forcefully and opened the car door. "I am not coming with you and that’s final. Enjoy your money. Enjoy everything you got from the Millers. Leave me alone, for God’s sake."
She got out of the car and walked quickly to a nearby bus stop. Jessica gritted her teeth and told the driver to drive on. Jessica sat in the car, deep in thought about what she would do next.
Hannah, on the other hand, decided the first thing she would do was resign from Miller Corporation and find another job. She didn’t want to face Liam anymore. She huffed and got on the bus. Soon, she reached her best friend Mia’s house. She rang the apartment bell but there was no response. Mia was a medical student and worked long hours at the hospital. She was probably sleeping.
Hannah rang the bell again. This time, a half-asleep Mia with heavy eyes and messy hair opened the door. Her eyes widened when she saw Hannah.
"Babe, what are you doing here at this time?" Mia asked, her voice still groggy from sleep.
Hannah sighed and said, "I had to leave. Can I stay with you for a while?"
Mia’s eyes softened. "Of course, come in. What happened?"
Hannah entered the apartment and sat down on the couch, feeling exhausted. "It’s a long story, Mia. Liam’s family wants me to sign divorce papers and leave. They practically threw me out. I couldn’t go back to my stepmother’s house, so I came here."
Mia sat down next to her. "I’m so sorry, Hannah. You can stay here as long as you need. I’m here for you."
Tears welled up in Hannah’s eyes. "Thank you, Mia. I just don’t know what to do now. Everything is so messed up."
Mia hugged her tightly. "We’ll figure it out together. Don’t worry."
Hannah wiped her tears. "The first thing I’m going to do is resign from Miller Corporation. I need to find another job. I can’t stay there anymore."
Mia nodded. "That sounds like a good plan. You need a fresh start." She handed her a glass of water. Hannah sighed. "Yes, a fresh start. I just need to find my way now."Mia smiled warmly. "You will. You’re strong, Hannah. You’ll get through this."
Hannah felt a bit of hope return. "Thanks, Mia. I needed to hear that." Mia got up and said, "Let me make us some tea. You look like you could use a warm drink."
Hannah nodded. "That sounds nice." As Mia went to the kitchen, Hannah took a deep breath and tried to calm her racing thoughts. She had a lot to figure out, but at least she had a friend who cared for her. Mia returned with two cups of tea and handed one to Hannah. "Here you go."
Hannah took a sip and felt the warmth spread through her. "This is good. Thanks, Mia."
Mia sat down next to her. "Anytime. Now, tell me everything. I want to help."
Hannah began to tell Mia everything that had happened. She spoke about her marriage, Liam’s recovery, the divorce papers, and her stepmother’s cruel words.

Liam was in his room. It was dark, and he saw a reflection standing near the wardrobe. He thought it was his wife, Hannah. He walked up behind her and hugged her tightly. "Baby, I missed you so much. Where were you? I was searching for you in the office."
As the girl turned towards him, he was shocked to see Olivia in front of him. Olivia hugged him back tightly. "I missed you so much, Liam. I'm back. I'm finally back, and I've recovered from my injuries. Now no one can separate us."
Liam raised his brows and immediately broke the hug and stepped back. "What are you doing in my room, Olivia?" Olivia was taken aback by his cold response. She knew she was the first and only love of his life. Why was he behaving like this?
"Where is my wife, Hannah? Where is she?" he demanded.
Suddenly, the door opened, and the lights turned on. Sophia entered the room and slammed a file on the desk.
"Hannah left," Sophia announced. "See what she left for you. She left you for five million dollars, Liam."
Liam picked up the file and saw the divorce papers signed by Hannah. He was taken aback. Suddenly, his eyes turned red with anger. "How dare she? How dare she try to leave me?" he thought to himself. He clenched his fists, and his knuckles turned white. "She is not going to leave me. She is not going to escape me."
Olivia was shocked and surprised by his reaction. There was no excitement in his eyes at seeing her after two years. He was only asking about Hannah. "Liam, what's going on? Why are you so upset?" Olivia asked, her voice trembling.
Liam looked at her, his eyes still burning with anger. "Hannah is my wife now. I can't believe she signed these papers. I need to find her." Olivia's heart sank. "But Liam, I'm back now. We can be together again, just like we always wanted."
Liam shook his head. "Olivia, things have changed. I can't just forget about Hannah." Sophia stepped forward, trying to calm the situation. "Liam, you need to understand. Hannah left you. She chose money over you."
Liam's anger only grew. "I don't believe that. There must be some other reason. Hannah wouldn't do this." Olivia tried to hold back her tears. "Liam, please. I came back for you. Don't you still love me?"
“Move!” Liam pushed her away and left the room.
