1 - Avia’s POV:
“ You're worthless.” “No one will ever love you.”" You're so stupid? How can you still be alive?” “Look at how ugly you are!” “Can’t you ever do anything right?”
Having someone say this to you hurts. When it's your own mother, you just want to die. My name is Avia. I’m a seventeen-year-old high school Junior. I live at home with my mother, who is an alcoholic drug user. I also have a ten-year-old brother that I take care of day in and day out. My mother became this way when her soul mate, my father, was killed during the Werewolf / Vampire war. The war ended right before my brother was born.
“Todd, it's time to get up for school.” I’m in Todd’s room taping him on his foot to get him up for school. We have been late for the last two days. If I am late one more time this week, I will get after-school detention. I can’t let this happen. No one would be home to take care of Todd. I go over and pull the blanket off of Todd. “I’m up, I’m up Sis.” He rolls out of bed and goes straight to the bathroom.
I dropped Todd off and arrived at my first hour with only minutes to spare. I sit in the back corner of the classroom hoping that no one sees or bothers me. It's not that I am shy, it’s that I don’t know how to interact with people. I am so self-conscious I’m afraid that people will judge me or make fun of me. At least every time I have tried to make friends, they laugh, actually laugh at me.
“Look at her! What is she wearing?” I pull my hood up on my hoodie as I hear Molly (Head Cheerleader, most popular girl in school) laughing at me with her friends. “How can she come to school looking like that” Karly looks at Molly laughing. Suddenly, the classroom door opens and in walks Emerson, the most popular boy in school. Molly’s boyfriend and the current Alpha’s oldest son and heir. Emerson swings into the seat next to Molly and proceeds to kiss the daylights out of her. We are all used to this. They have been dating since we were freshmen, so nothing new. The one thing that really makes it weird is that Molly is human. Normally, us wolves stay away from dating humans. Just then, Professor Johnson walks in. Professor “Okay love birds separate now or detention for both of you.” Molly and Emerson separate, Molly looking guilty while Emerson looks bored.
Finally, the day is over. I walked over to the Junior high to pick up my brother. Well, somehow, I was able to stay away from all the bullies that like to pick on me. I guess I just have a way to disappear into the background. Todd runs up to me laughing with his friends. I am so happy that he has a happy life at school. I don’t know what’s going to happen when he has to deal with all of this on his own. We make it home. I need to get my homework done before I make dinner and clean the house before my mom gets home. If she comes home today,
