Chapter 7

When I opened my eyes again, I was shocked to see that I was in Austins car. I had a massive headache and my leg was sore. I noticed that my skin still felt a little uneasy after that horribly realistic dream. I got goose bumps just by thinking about it. May I never ever be bitten by a vampire, because I won't be able to take that pain again. I tried moving my leg and I decided that it was okay for driving. First I looked at the watch... It was a little past midnight. I had slept about...4 HOURS... Austin is going to kill me he must be worried sick by now. I started the car and put it into drive. What had happened tonight my memories cut off after I arrived at that guys apartment. The only thing I remember after that is the dream from hell. I can't believe that I can't remember. I tried to push myself, but nothing. I can't even remember how I got back to the school and I know I didn't tell that guy where my car was. The house came into view and I was so happy. I was finally home. It was pretty dark and all I could see in the distance was the porch lights. I turned off the ignition and before I could do anything else I was pulled out from the car into a hug. I could tell it was Austin by the feel of his body. He let go and placed his hands on my shoulders looking into my eyes. 

"Where have you been all of your sisters have been out looking for you, and why on earth is your phone off?" He yelled at me. I honestly felt afraid to answer him, but I pulled myself together and said

"I had to put my phone off for detention." in a trembling voice. 

"Yeah,but last time I checked detention didn't go on till past midnight!" He was fuming.

"I can explain, really I can... After detention I saw this vampire talking to Laura a girl from my school. He was going to kill her in a matter of minutes so I couldn't wait for you guys so I chased him right into a alley. I got him cornered, but I slipped and hit my head against a crate and my leg hit a sharp, mean looking rock. I couldn't get up." I took a deep breath and continued.

"The vampire came towards me and he was seconds away from sinking his teeth into me, seconds away from killing me, but this human guy showed up and the vampire ran away like he was scared it was so weird. The guy offered to help and I took him up on his his offer. I couldn't get up and I was afraid another vampire would smell my blood and come for me. So I left with the guy. I remember getting to his apartment, but nothing else it's all blank. I woke up in the car 15 minutes ago and I don't know how on earth I got there." He was just staring at me his eyes were big, his face getting redder and his whole body was vibrating. I could hear his teeth grinding against each other. 

"Come on don't be mad I was just doing the job." That's when the s**t hit the fan.

"The job...The job is to protect the humans, but not when your alone and have to sacrifice yourself. You can't put the job before you and your needs. It would have killed me if you died... Don't you get that.!" He yelled while shaking me by my shoulders. I guess he was probably trying to shake some sense into me. I moaned of pain and he stopped. 

"What is it?" He asked concerned 

"My head hurts a lot." That was the first time he really looked at me and I can only imagine what he saw. Dried blood on my head where the wound is probably some in my hair as well. My white top was also stained with my blood and mud, so was the rest of my Body. Then there was my leg. It was swollen and blue around this open wound that looked red and sore. 

"I'm so sorry babe, let's get you in the house and fix you up." Austin said picking me up. I rested my head on his chest as he carried me to the living room. 

"I'll be right back I'm just going to get a wet cloth to clean you up until your sisters arrive.” He walked out the room and came back a little later. He started pressing the wet cloth to my head wound his eyes never leaving mine.

"So where did you find her Aus?" Katherine asked when she walked in

"Oh my gosh are you alright, Lex? " I loved Katherine most of all the angels she always came up with the weirdest stuff and she is totally sweet. 

"She was stupid and hunted alone." Austin said grumpy all over again. 

"Katherine she needs to take a bath so that I can heal her and actually see what damage is under all of that blood. See that she doesn't fall asleep again." Katherine did as she was told he treated the other sisters a lot different than he treated me, but they never seemed to mind. After a long bath Katherine took me back downstairs where everyone was waiting. I sat on the loveseat with everyone staring at me with disappointment. 

"Okay let's heal you up." Austin said breaking the silence and death glares. He held his hand on my head and the motion felt so weird as if someone else did it too and not long ago. 

"I have to make you fall asleep the healing process is going to hurt so it's better if you slept through it." And just like that I was out. I was afraid of sleeping, because I was afraid that I was going to dream again. The next morning I woke up with the worst stinging pain in my head ever. I walked into the bathroom grabbing a few pain killers. I walked back to my bedroom and realized that it was 10 o’clock and I was really late for school and more than usual. I grabbed my favorite black skinny jean and a cute purple button up top. I ran down the stairs almost falling down the bottom three, but Austin was there to catch me. Austin my hero who was looking particular yummy today in a tight black top and shorts. 

"And where are you going? " He asked poking my nose. 

"I'm so late for school they are going to expel me...Wait that isn't such a bad idea." I grinned at him. I gave him a small peck trying to side step him. 

"You don't have to go today. I already called the school telling them you’re ill." He took my school bag throwing it in a corner. He placed his arm over my shoulder and we started to move towards the dinning room. 

"So how are you feeling today?" He asked looking down at me just as we walked into the dinning room. 

"I have a stinging pain in my head." I said a bit distracted by the buffet breakfast on the table. 

"The pain should have been gone by now maybe you had a concussion, that will take a while to go away." I sat down filling my plate with pancakes, cream, bananas and caramel treat. I started to eat and I noticed him staring at me. 

"What I'm hungry." I exclaimed. 

"I was just wondering... So you said a vampire was attacking a girl right?" I took a big bite nodding my head. 

"Yeah Laura she is really nice I think we are kinda friends now. When he saw me he just walked away and she got in her car driving away." I said this all quickly so that I could take another bite. 

"And you said he ran away from a human." I swallowed my yummy mess. 

"Yeah like he was afraid. It was weird." I was just about to take a bite again.

"And your sure this guy was human?" I put the fork down.

"Yeah pretty much. I sensed something when I was around him, but nothing I've sensed before and he looked human he had dark brown hair almost black with blue eyes." He grinned at me it looked like he was done so I finished my breakfast. He suddenly stood up and walked away. He was acting so weird. After eating the mother lode of unhealthy food I went back up to my room I was tired from the pain killers I took and the pain was getting worse. I grabbed my pj’s and got into bed.

3 hours later

I got up, my head was feeling better so I got out of bed ,but as I put my weight on my leg a stinging sensation went through my body. I walked to the bathroom took some more pain pills and got into the shower. Afterwards I went looking for everyone, but I couldn't find them anywhere so I fell on a chair surfing the channels until I stopped on some old movie. I watched awhile ,but my eyes started to droop and I gave in. I woke up when I felt that I was moving. Looking up I saw Austin was carrying me.

"Where were you?" I whispered snuggling closer to him. He smiled down at me his brown eyes showed how much he loved and cared for me.

"There was a vampire attack near your school." He said opening my bedroom door placing me on the bed.

"How many were killed?" His smile grew bigger.

"Not one human it was a vampire that was killed. The soul sucked right out of him I haven't seen anything like this ever it is like he froze into a statue." It isn't like him to be excited about what some unknown vampire did to another vampire.

"Shouldn't we be worried about it?” I asked. He just shook his head still as happy and calm as before.

"It's nothing new we know that vampires have powers so it's not something we can't handle. Now get in bed and sleep it's 10 pm babe." He kissed my head and left. Once I was sure he was gone I got out of bed and walked over to the mirror I had to see how my injuries looked. My mirror was a full body mirror that was engraved with golden words all around like a frame. It read : you are as beautiful as you want to be, not as others say you are, take a look for yourself and don't just look at the surface but what's inside.

I know totally motivational, but I had it made when I got here because being a orphan your whole life where no one wanted you, to being whisked away to LA to live in a house with 4 girls that could be mistaken as supermodels you needed motivation or you'll end up depressed. I stood there looking at my head first. There was nothing not even a small bruise. The healing has never worked that good before. I looked down at my leg also nothing no scratches, no marks. It was amazing. I looked back up and that's how I noticed it. My hair looked a shade darker and longer as if my curls were loosing their body, which was impossible not even a straightener can get my hair straight because the curls was part of being an angels. I frowned. Walking to my bathroom I used my hand mirror and the bathroom mirror to see the back of my head and the other mirror wasn't lying. I was shocked, but blew it off as a effect of the healing and it would be back to normal in the morning. I went to bed and slept.

The next morning the first thing that went through my head was to check in the mirror. I jumped out of bed almost falling, but I didn't. I got to the mirror and was shocked my hair was straight not one single curl was visible. That's when I notice my eyes and went closer to the mirror. My eyes were bluer than before and I never thought that was even possible. It was also circled with a deep blue there was also a few purple flex in the blue. What the hell is going on here. 

I started to go in shock as my heart started playing drums on my ribs. I felt an uncomfortable stinging in my lower neck and I pulled down my shirt and what I saw shocked the colour right out of me. On my neck was a crescent bite mark with 2 holes where the fangs had entered my skin. I started to do the one thing I know was appropriate for this situation I panicked. When did this happen?

How did this happen.?

I should be dead a vampire bite is poisonous to an angel.

What am I going to do?

I'm going to run away. I can't stay here and let my family see me! What will they do? I look like the thing they hate the most the thing I hate the most. I grabbed a small bag threw in a few skinny's and a few tops. Next I got the essentials : underwear, toothbrush, brush and some of my make up. I ran downstairs to Austins office. I had already scoped through the house with my senses to see if anyone was there. Once in his office I opened the safe and took enough money so I could get far away and be able to get a place and everything that goes with it. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. That was the first time I started hesitating, my heart felt heavy and there was a lump forming in my throat. I started to write but stopped to think what I was going to say.

Dear Austin

When you’re reading this I'll be gone. I just can't do this anymore. I don't want this anymore. Who wants a life where all you do is kill and where you have a possessive boyfriend who controls everything you do, even thou you do it to protect me.

I just want to start over and I can't believe it took a bump to the head and a near death experience to make this choice. Don't come after me because I don't want to be found

Ps. You guys will always be my first and last family and I'll carry the good memories with me.

I walked out the yard catching a taxi and went to the airport to my unknown life forward
