Secrets

There tension in the room was so thick, that you could probably cut it with a knife. The secret was revealed. The secret both girls were keeping. And this was one of the reasons why the never wanted to be in a relationship. They simply couldn’t give the one thing every man wonted – a heir. Alexandra couldn’t stand the silence, so she decided to say something, even thou she knew it would be awkward.

-          Listen everyone, I know that what you heard shocked you, but that was a decision we took very long time ago. And to be honest, I never regretted it. I know that this is probably something that you will never accept, but it is what it is. – she said, - You will have to accept our decision whether you like it, or not. – she continued

Samantha and Helen were looking at the girls. There was confusion written on their faces. Now, after they heard that, the she-wolves, finally understood why the two friends were refusing to stay with the guys.

-          Alex, I just want to ask you something, - said Helen, - what are your intentions? What do you plan to do? With Lukas I mean.

-          No plans at all. – the girl said – I will tell him the truth, and after that I will probably leave. … I know that Lukas wants children, and unfortunately, I can’t give him that. … He will be better without me. – Alli said

There was sorrow in her eyes, but she covered it quickly. She was good at covering her feelings. Not showing anything. After all, she was TOP dealer in the casino, and the poker face was absolute necessary for her work.

-          Okay, let’s not talk about that anymore. – said Sang, knowing her friend was hurt. – Tell me Helen, how are we going to bring the boys here? – she asked

-          Auu, right … I completely forgot. Alli, can you give a call to Lukas? – she asked, - That’s the only way that he will come back.

-          To call him? Why? – asked the girl, - And what am I supposed to tell him?

-          Just call him and tell him that the dinner is ready. – said Hellen

Alli made a confused grimace but she picked her phone and dialed Lukas’ number. She wasn’t expecting him to pick up that fast.

-          Alli, … - said Lukas.

-          Dinner is ready, and both of you have fifteen minutes to come or we start without you. – she said and closed the call before he can even say something.

-          Well that should work. – said Elli.

The silence was taking over the room again. It was strange, … just a couple of days ago the girls were laughing and joking with each other, and now … Everything was different. After all the secrets were revealed, everything changed.

Secrets, … past, … an old poem, …. Something that Alli’s parents made her remember, … but what it was …? It wasn’t long, but it was dark … little by little the old text was coming to her head. She closed her eyes. Breaking the silence, she started to recite it:

-          Ancient one sleeping, waiting to arise,

when the Moon bleeds sacred red,

she shall wake up from her sleep.

Terrible beauty, monstrous sigh,

her hair was red as the rise,

as mysterious as the night,

how beautiful was her light.

First comes the day,

then comes the night,

after the darkness,

shines through the light.

Wisdom’s daughter walks alone,

the mark of the Moon burns through all.

Two friends sniff out the angel’s breath,

who holds the key to endless death.

 The one born of the blood,

bearing darkness and light,

shall lead them with might.

Bathing the Moon in eternal light,

she comes to claim,

she comes to sire.

Rocks will shatter, mountains fall,

she shall triumph above all.

Alli finished with a silent voice. The words were still in her head, not ready to leave. Reminding her of the loving parents she had lost. An image of her mother appeared in her mind. Her mother was making one of her secret teas, never telling her what she was adding to it. She gave it to her daughter to drink it. It had terrible taste, but she was still drinking it twice every day. Her mother smiled at her and told Alli to recite the poem one more time. Every day, when the girl was drinking her tea, her mother would make her tell the poem.

Sad smile appeared to Alexandra’s face. When she finally opened her eyes, everyone was looking at her.

-          What was that? – asked Samantha

-          An old poem. I know it from my mother, … but I never learned who the author is. – Alli answered.

Lukas was looking at his mate’s eyes. When he had come, Alli had no idea.

-          Princess, … that’s not a poem, … - Lukas finally said, - that’s a prophesy. A very old one, … known only to the oldest packs, … passed down from generation to generation, from alpha to alpha.

-          What are you talking about Lukas? – Alexandra asked, - I am human, as my family was. We are not like you. … Maybe you are mistaking it with something else. – she said with hope in her voice.

-          No princess, I will never mistook it. … my father told me the prophesy with his last breath. 

-          That’s, … that’s not possible, … - Alli said confused, - then tell me if it’s a prophesy, for what it is? – she asked

-          Some say it’s for the one who will bring death to the world, another – for the savior, but all of them believe that one way or another that person will rule above all. … My father believed that the one born of blood, the wisdom’s daughter, she will save us, she will be the one who will bring light to the werewolf world.

-          But if it’s passed down only from alpha to alpha, how your mother knew about it Alli? – Hellen asked

-          I, … I don’t know, … she died before she could tell me. – said Alexandra with a confusion.

She was too little when her parents died. Her mother never told her anything about the poem. She just made sure the girl will remember it perfectly. But not only her mother, her father never told her anything either. … There was time when Alex would ask him why she have to repeat that old poem over and over again, but her father would just smile and tell her that when the time comes, they will tell her.

-          Neither one of my parents told me anything about the poem, they just made sure that I will learn it. I was asking them at the beginning, but I always received the same answer, that I will know when the time comes. … So, with time, I just stopped asking. – Alli said, - So even if you ask me, I can’t tell you, because I have no idea.

-          O, Alli, … - said Lukas, - I should have never told you about that. – he told her

Slowly Lukas started approaching Alexandra, and when he saw that she wasn’t moving from her place he took her in his hands. How much he missed holding her. At first, she was like a statue, not moving, not even saying anything. But then her body started to relax in Luke’s hands. No matter how mad she was at him, or how much she wanted to leave him, she couldn’t make herself do it. It was like an invisible string was holding her here, keeping her attached to Lukas. The girl couldn’t stay away from him anymore, so she placed her hands around him and hid her head in his chest. … Lukas was more than happy right now. He was holding his loving mate in his hands. A smile was forming on his lips. There was no sign of his previous sorrow. slowly he released the girl from his embrace. Lukas took Alli’s hand and led her to the table where the dinner was served. … The rest of the guys had already taken their places. Samantha was feeding Dany, Sang was sitting with Nathan, and Hellen was right next to Tom. Lukas placed his mate on the chair next to him without letting go of her hand.

The dinner went smooth, and before everyone go to their rooms, Alli asked Lukas if they can have a talk. He, of course, agreed and she led him to her room. After closing the door, Lukas looked at his mate’s eyes with curiosity.

-          Please sit somewhere, because what I’m about to tell you, might shock you more than you expect. – she started

-          What do you mean? – asked Lukas

-          I’m about to tell you a part of my past, that I’m not so proud, but still …. I only ask you not to interrupt me, because it is hard enough to talk about it even now.

Lukas nodded, and Alli started her story.

-          It was right after both me and Sang managed to escape from the prison we were hold in. There was a loving couple that saved us. They made everything possible to help us stay with them, but the social services never allowed it. So, they made the only thing that came to their mind. they called their relatives for help. The woman’s uncle, was very powerful man. She asked him, if it’s gonna be convenient for him to take care of us. Without hesitation, he agreed. No one could tell him anything, so the social services allowed the adoption without any problems. … At the beginning, we weren’t leaving the room they gave us, … we were afraid that the history will repeat itself. …   with time, we saw that Murat wasn’t like the other man, that kept us captive. He was nice and loving, never making us do something we didn’t wanted. He had a nephew, Ibrahim, they were both living together. Months passed, and we slowly started to trust them. We were leaving our room, having dinner with them, we even played with Ibrahim. But we were still afraid, so we never left the house. … One day, Murat asked us if we wanna learn how to defend ourselves. … there was nothing more we wanted than that, so, we agreed without hesitation. He was bringing people to train us in the house. Months passed, … and after about two years, we asked Murat for something. It was the first time we wanted something from him, and he was so happy. Until he heard what we wanted. Even thou he was refusing at the beginning, we made him agree to our request. The thing we made him agree was a surgery, … a surgery for infertility. – said Alli, - At that time, it was the only desire we had. We were twelve at that time. It took Murat a couple of months to find the perfect doctor to make us the surgery. When we turned thirteen, we had the surgery done on us. … So, you see, both me and Sang are infertile, ... we can’t have kids. – she finished

Lukas was looking at Alli, showing no emotion at all. She had no idea what he was thinking. Was he disappointed, did he wanted to leave her? … But it didn’t matter, she had already told him, and she was ready to do exactly what he wanted. If he wanted her to leave, she would leave. … Lukas stood up from the place he was sitting and went straight to Alli. Without warning, he picked her in his hands and led her to the bed. carefully he placed Alex on the soft bed and laid beside her.

-          If you think that this will change my feelings for you, then you are lying yourself. – said Luke, - I don’t care that you are infertile. You are my mate, and I will love you no matter what. So, forget about leaving me. – he told her. – From now on I’m not letting you go, even if you want to leave. … Remember that you are mine Alexandra, only mine. – he said and kissed her passionately.
