5 REUNION The ‘Atrium-View Lounge’ had been one of Gideon’s favourite places in the pyramid since the very first time he had discovered it, shortly after his return from the North. There was something about the place he found soothing. Maybe it was the stunning views out over the poisoned sea, or perhaps the view down into the atrium that rose through the middle of Kaoteck HQ. Every time he peered down through the mist thrown off by the cascading waterfalls ringing the inner perimeter of the lounge, he was reminded of the day he had first arrived at the pyramid. Like many other selectees, he had nervously looked up at the curious workers staring down at him from the very spot on which he now stood. He checked the time on his Ktab once more, it was 21:45.
