When Jake woke up, he found that the sun was already high in the sky. He squinted his eyes and pat the space beside him. After feeling around the blankets and pillows, he slowly realized that Jess was not there. At first he didn’t mind much. He took his phone on the bedside table and looked at the time. To his surprise, it was already one o’clock in the afternoon.
He had never slept so late into the day…was he that tired last night?
Had Jess already gotten up? What time did he woke up? Jake sat up, stretched and yawned. Recalling the image of sleepy Jess reclining on the sofa, he laughed foolishly. Jess definitely adore him; when Jess probably saw him sleeping soundly, he didn’t wake him up, and let him rest instead.
Standing up, Jake loudly called a few times: “Jessy… Jessy… Jess?“
