OK, I must admit that knowing about Falco and Vince not getting along was refreshing. It's good to know that you can go from enemies to friends. Frenemies, sounds great considering my relationship with Eagle.
I passed the corridors and went to the second floor because I badly needed a shower. I was all sweaty and had a bit of dried blood on my legs. Thank you very much Falco.
When I opened the doors to room 214 I wasn't given the opportunity to take a peaceful shower because two angry faces greeted me.
"Where the hell have you been?" - shouted Martha and at the same time Nim said:
"What did you do?"
I was quite shocked seeing them both together, as I thought that I'm the only thing they have in common. Don't get me wrong it's great, because this big old castle can be lonely sometimes and any friendly face here is a treasure to hold dear.
" Hello Ladies. Could you ask one question at the time please?" - I asked with amusement.
They looked at me like I've grown two heads, then at each other, and Martha gave Nim a sign that she should go first.
"What happened? Martha said that you had a fight with Eagle again." - Nim said
"That I did. Later, Coach Santiago escorted us to the Headmaster's office and we got our punishment."
"You got expelled, haven't you?" - said Matha with mixture of anger and sadness in her voice
"Nope. The headmaster is a sneaky guy, he called our brothers to handle our argument. Apparently, Vince and Falco were even worse last year and the Headmaster assumed that they could help resolve our little situation."
"And did they?" - asked Martha
"And what was the punishment?" - came from Nim. I started laughing.
"Girls, again one at a time, but answering your questions. The punishment was to force us to work together and I honestly don't know if it'll help. We shall see. Ok before you start interrogating me any further, let me take a quick shower, afterall I was running away from biting wolf for the past two hours."
Both of my friends looked at me with open mouths, and it was such a shame I didn't hold a camera at that exact moment, because let me tell you those faces would make an excellent Christmas cart. Before they could protest I ran to the bathroom and undressed myself. I checked my legs but the spots where Falco's wolf bit me were already healed and the only proof that he actually did were streaks of dried blood. I jumped under shower and washed myself. When I was done I wrapped myself in a towel and went to my room to put on some sweats and a tank top on.
When I returned to the living room girls were talking about last year's events and from what I heard Falco and Vinny often showed up with black eyes or busted lips and it lasted way longer than my problems with Eagle. f*****g hypocrites!
I sat down at the end of a couch and patiently waited for the downfall of a questions, and I wasn't wrong. First one up was Nimue.
"What happened between you and that girl, that you loathe her so much?"
"Wow, loathe is a very strong word, but anyways it all started a few years back when The Springers were visiting our Pack. I've known Eagle practically my whole life, as our grandfathers started an alliance and our fathers upheld it so they visited us sometimes and other times we went to Red Moon. But three years ago she was just awful all of a sudden. She was being rude to our Omegas, even tripped one on purpose. When Martha wanted to hang out with us she dismissed her like she was a trash so I… I set her hair on fire."
Nim looked at me shocked and then to Martha who nodded confirming my story. Nimue took a deep breath and spoke.
" Did it ever occur to you, that she was insecure? She was just what? Fourteen year old in a strange Pack and this was only here defensive mechanism and instead of making things easier you made a joke out of her."
"Are you taking her side?" - I asked her
"No, but I can relate to her feelings cause that's exactly how I feel every time I'm visiting my father."
"Why? Is he a jerk to you?"
Nim stopped her sight on the wall ahead of her and contemplated for a while. Neither Martha nor I interrupted her thoughts because whatever was on her mind seemed important.
"Ok, we don't know each other very long, but I feel I can be honest with you two, but whatever your reaction or thoughts about it would be, promise me you'll keep this information to yourself."
"I promise" - Martha and I both said.
"I have an older half brother and he's the Alpha now, as he took over from our Father last year, and let's say he's not too fond of me. Therefore I'm not the most welcomed guest in the Dark Night Pack"
"Wait so this means your father is Marcus Alistair? Wow, their Pack is really large and powerful. But wait, that doesn't make sense, why does your brother hate you?" - I asked
"Ha, here is the main reason why I made you swear. I'm a hybrid. Half wolf from Alistair Alpha's bloodline and half enchantress from LeFay's bloodline."
I couldn't believe what she just told us. I mean yeah, she is something special but I thought it was only because of her personality. Wow, I mean wow! A witch, that's awesome!
"Wow" - was the only word that left my mind
"I know, you'll probably just freak out and ask for a different roommate now, and I get it. But I really hope you can keep this to yourself." - Nim said.
"What? Why the hell would I change a roommate? You're awesome! So what can you do? Which part is stronger in you? Your father is an Alpha and a strong one, so you're probably more like a werewolf, why would you be here if you weren't…"
"Ok, stop Nica your blabbering doesn't make any sense. First off, right now I'm stronger on my magical side, because I can control water and have glimpses of sight."
"What sight? Like our supervision but better?" - Martha asked
"No, more like a seer. I sometimes get visions of a future, but I often don't understand them. My mother believes that I'll unleash my full potential when I'll learn to control my wolf side so that's what I'm here for."
"No s**t! What about the water? What can you do with it?" - I asked more excited than I ever been
Nim stood up from the couch and went to our kitchenette. She took an apple from the counter and glass from the shelf and returned to the couch . She put both things on a coffee table in front of us.
"Watch." - she just said.
She bit her hand hard and I saw some blood dripping from the wound. She then extended her wound-free hand and started humming. The apple on the table stood still but I could see how its juices squeezed through the skin of that fruit. Nim then twisted her finger in the air and the juice did the same and then she pointed to the glass and that's where the freshly squeezed juice went.
"OH MY GODDESS! I'm never having juice from the box ever again!" - I said happily.
"But why did you bite yourself?" - I asked
"Every magic comes with a price, but thanks to my werewolf side I heal fast, see?" - she said pointing to her hand, and it was indeed already healed.
"Wow, and my roommate is only good at throwing knives. I wanna trade!" - said Martha with a pout.
We laughed for a while of her childish behaviour. Then something came to my mind.
"Hey, Nim? Is that why you always carry around a bottle of water?"
"Yes. I feel safer that way. Only you two and the principal know about my true heritage and I doubt that other students would be as understanding as you two."
"Don't worry sister, we got your back! And not that I want to change the subject, cause believe me, I'll be asking a LOT of questions once my mind will process what we just saw. But what do you think about my Eagle situation? Should I cut her some slack?"
"My advice is to start over. No grudges, no hard feelings, and if she'll let your trust down again then you'll get your answer." - Nim suggested.
"That's a really good point. I think I'll do it." - I said squeezing her hand in gratitude.
The atmosphere between us was friendly but somehow I felt it was a big moment for all of our lives. I guess finding new friends is always like that. The moment had been spoiled by Martha.
" OK, now that we know where we stand, let's decide what we should wear for the party next Friday."
