10. Dominate your opponent

Rest of the week went by pretty smoothly. I decided to sign up for Medicine, Pack Maintenance and Advanced War Strategies and leave Lycan Literature for second year as Nim said doesn't have too many classes worth attending.

Nim and I are on our way for breakfast and next I'll be going to High Ranked classes which Nim despite being Alpha's daughter managed to skip saying that her brother already took over so she doesn't need this knowledge. Lucky b***h! So I guess that leaves me alone with a bunch of peacock alike boys.

We entered the dining room and joined my Pack members table. Nimue has warmed up a bit to them, having me and Martha by her side. Besides Vince and Colin knew better than to start the wolf ranks topic again.

"Hey you guys!" - I greeted everyone by the table, and all but Jess greeted me back. I seriously don't know what her problem is?! I think it's a world's balance thing, as I managed to bury the hatchet with one she-wolf only to get the new one with the other.

" Hey Sis, you ready to have your first classes with me?" - asked Vince

"Sure, but I still don't understand what those classes are for. It's another example of social division in our community." - I said

"No, no, no! Not this topic again!" - said Colin dramatically, what made all of us laugh our asses off.

"Actually this class has more sense than you think. They will teach us about extra abilities that Alphas and Betas have such as power of command and there's also an opportunity to talk to former Alpha's, which is great. Think about it, by now I only knew our Dadd's approach to leading a Pack and now I'll be able to learn from many and become a better Alpha for our people." - said Vince enthusiastically.

Martha and I looked at each other and said simultaneously:

" Nerd Alert!"

Everyone by the table except Vince started laughing. Tommy then turned to Nim and said:

" Hey Nim, would you mind if we learn for Dr Fields classes together. You're one of the best and I think I could use a hand in genetics."

Nim looked at him like he was crazy, and frankly saying so did the rest of us, because even though Nim spent most of our meals with my Pack they all treated her like a part of me. They were nice but didn't interact with her directly.

Nimue cleared her throat and answered.

"Well I guess we can. Maybe on Sunday? Nica is making me go with her to this party today so I might not be in the learning condition tomorrow."

"Sounds perfect." - said Tommy with a grin. I know that look, he likes her! But that is a bit weird, Tommy is 18 now and if she were his Mate he would probably be more direct than to just offer her to study together. I restrain myself from any comments cause I don't want to spoil anything for them. They would actually be great together Mates or not, and I know better that not everyone gets their other half, so even finding decent companion is nice. My thoughts have been interrupted by Jessica.

"You're going to learn about genetics? That's interesting. Can I come too?"

"But you're not even in Medicine classes." - said Nim narrowing her eyes. Apparently not only I thought that Jessica's request was a bit odd to say the least.

"Yeah I know, but inheritance issues are fascinating so if you don't mind I'd like to know a bit more. You won't even notice me there." - Jess continues.

Nim and Tommy shared a look and both shrugged their shoulders.

"Sure Jess, you can come." - Tommy said. Ok that was weird, cause I don't believe for one second that she wants to learn.

Breakfast was soon finished and Vinny, Colin and I went to the classroom. It was filled with people who I knew and those about who Vince told me. I spotted the Boyl's twins and Eagle talking in a corner and decided to say 'Hi' to them.

"Hi Guys, what's up?" - I asked casually

"Oh Hey Cargarough. We're talking about tonight's party. You're going?" - said one of the twins but for the love of Goddess I couldn't say which one. They are f*****g identical.

"Hell yeah, I'm going!"

"Cool! So we'll catch up then. Beta Ferguson is already here, we should take our places." - said another twin and in fact our teacher had arrived.

I sat down next to Vinny and the place on my left was taken by no one else but Heston Moyez. He sent me a wink and returned his eyes to the Beta who is already starting his lecture.

" Good morning class! Today we're going to talk about the dominant side of any Alpha and Beta, on the second part we'll do some exercises.

All of you probably know that our species is driven by a power just like our animal cousins which means that only the strongest should be at the top of the food chain. True born Alphas and Betas possess a gene which makes them constantly working on their skills because once one of them becomes weak it most likely becomes dead. Brutal as it is, this gene is responsible for our species lasting, because a Pack led by a weak leader might be an easy target to outside threats.

It doesn't mean that every powerful Alpha would be a good leader. We need to think about the whole picture here and our human and diplomatic side.

In places such as Woodland Academy where we have a lot of dominant wolves at the same time it's extremely important to avoid any conflicts because to us they aren't just arguments between teenagers. No, they can actually lead to unnecessary bloodshed. That's why you have training in the wolf forms every other day. The best way to keep our wolves calm is to blow off some steam.

In the practical part of today's session I'd like to work with you all on releasing your aura, because sometimes that's all it takes to dominate your opponent. So I'm gonna group you into twos so we can get to work. Ok Falco Springer and Neil Boyl, Gareth Russo with Nathaniel Boyl, Vincent Cargarough with Chloe Russo, Eric Stevens with Veronica Cargarough, Eagle Springer with Heston Moyez and Albert Jones with Colin Ryan. Ok so get together and try without fighting or even touching to intimidate your opponent by releasing your aura." - Beta Ferguson commands.

My eyes landed on Eric, the guy my brother warned me about and he already had a cocky smirk on his face. I guess that my first impression that he's a nice guy was in fact wrong. I got closer to him and he already started talking.

" Hey Blondie! Wow you have killer legs, I wish I could dominate you outside this classroom in let's say my bed, what would you say?" - he wiggles his brows at me.

"Not gonna happen, kid. You are too weak to handle me, besides I've been warned to not come near you Mr Player."

"What? Who would have spread such awful lies behind my back?" - Eric said acting all innocent

"Oh cut the crap Stevens! Now let's get back to exercise. I want to be done with it asap because even standing next to you makes me feel dirty."

He narrowed his eyes on me, apparently I hit him on a sensitive spot. Well, too bad.

He took the fighting stance and I could feel anger raising inside of him. He then let go of his barrier and released his aura completely. It was not bad. I must admit this guy was quite powerful. If only he wasn't a jerk…

"Nice Stevens! I never would have thought that you have it in you after all." - I praised him

"Now you go Blondi, let's find out if your aura is as big as your mouth."

I gave him my innocent smile, the one I always use on my father while caught red-handed, and I focused. I let my walls down completely, I was on the verge of phasing into my wolf because I knew that's when my aura is strongest.

I saw Eric's eyes go wide in shock, then his eyes averted to something behind me. I followed his sight and saw Albert, Colin, Gareth and Eagle lowering their heads.

I pulled myself back together and closed my aura link.

"Young Alpha Cargarough, that was impressive. But you almost phase into your wolf, you should have been more careful." - said Beta Ferguson

"Thank you Sir. But don't worry I had my wolf under control."

He looked at me for a moment and ordered us to change partners. I was paired up with one of the twins and then Falco at the end.

Neil's aura was actually as strong as mine but Falco… Wow! I never would have thought that this lean guy was the strongest one here. I needed to fight myself pretty hard to not submit to him.

So the conclusion of today's classes was Falco as the strongest, second one was Vinny and me and the twins were third.

I had a weird feeling about that Chloe chick though, like she's been holding back. But anyways, that was an eye opening experience.
