Flashback
Brad at the end of 8th grade.
Josie looked at Brad with pursed lips, arms crossed.
“I expected better from you,” she said, disappointment heavy in her voice.
Brad looked down at his hands, the skin on his knuckles already healed.
“You have super-human strength,” Josie whispered furiously. “Even at this age, you’re stronger than the average human boy…” Josie shook her head sadly. “You severely injured him.”
“I-I-“ Brad spluttered in a small voice before stopping short and looking away from his mother.
He hadn’t wanted to cause such trouble. And seeing Rory being hauled away on a stretcher with his crying mother climbing into the ambulance after him had made him realize he’d made a grave mistake.
He’d only meant to tease him, maybe rough him up a bit when he saw Ror
