“I’m not all that hungry,” Melanie stated before Amy could even drag her outside to the picnic tables where they usually ate. “You can go ahead and eat with Josiah and his friends.”
“Are you trying to avoid Josiah’s group? We’ll eat with you,” Amy said quickly.
Melanie shook her head.
“I told you, I’m not hungry. I’ve got some things I need to take care of…” Melanie trailed off, grasping wildly for anything but using the library as an excuse.
