Brad moved towards Melanie, glad that he'd gotten here before too much damage could be done. But still, something like this should have never happened.
As he extended his hands towards her to try and pick her up, Melanie sluggishly flinched away from him.
“I'm not going to hurt you,” Brad began cautiously. “but I need to get you out of here.”
Melanie thought back to Cassidy’s taunts and everyone laughing at her. This would be another thing for them to laugh about now.
“No one can know,” she rasped out.
Brad nodded solemnly.
“I’ll take you upstairs through the back garage, that side is completely empty, but you can’t stay here. Do I have your permission to do that?”
