Abigail’s breathing hitched up to hear the name Aidan, and she turned her head to look, only to see him coming inside the restaurant, holding a gorgeous blonde woman in his arm. They walked elegantly, chatting and smiling. The woman wore a red, deep cut ‘V’ neck, backless dress, and smiled coquettishly at him while he looked at her affectionately. They looked like a romantic couple deeply in love.
Abigail was too shocked to react and only stared at them with astonishment. Her eyes then drifted down at his arm that coiled like a snake around the woman’s waist. Anger and jealousy broke out inside her like a volcano. She wanted to throw that woman away from Aidan and scratch her face beyond recognition. Rebeca sensed her anger and reached out to hold her hand to comfort her, but before that, Abigail stood up and approached them with long strides.
Before Aidan and Erica could reach their table, Abigail came in front of them, blocking their way. Aidan was stunned to see her, and a wave of panic spread through him. But very soon he suppressed his anxiety and resumed his cold demeanor. He asked coldly, “Abi, why are you here? Didn’t I tell you to stay home and rest for a few days? Why did you come out?”
Abigail, who was shooting a death stare at Erica, moved her eyes to Aidan when she heard his questions. She snorted and sneered, “You want me to stay at home so that you can spend time with another woman.” She nodded and added coldly, “Now I understand why you asked me to not contact you this entire week. Aidan, are you so bored with me that you started dating this woman behind me? How could you do that?” Tears began to gather inside her eyes while looking at him contemptuously. She really didn’t expect that he could cheat on her.
Aiden’s heart trembled to see the hostility in her gaze. If she broke up with him, how would he be able to succeed in his plan? He couldn’t let her go until he fulfilled his dreams. He maintained his composure and asked, “What are you talking about? Don’t assume anything. You can’t just blame me without knowing the truth.” He wanted to say more but before that Erica started saying, “Miss Mills, you are misunderstanding us…”
“Ah…”
Before Erica could finish speaking, Abigail yanked her arm and pulled her away from Aidan. Then she slapped her hard. Erica felt pain and placed her hand on her cheek where the slap landed. Anger seether inside her and her expression became sinister. She cast a scornful gaze at her, but very quickly she concealed her hatred and resentment and pretended to be weak and petite. She shot a pleading look at Aidan with her teary eyes.
Aidan was also shocked to see Abigail behave violently. He swept his gaze to the surroundings and saw many pairs of eyes looking curiously at them. He was a very image-conscious person, and he didn’t like the way the people looked at him. He felt humiliated and blamed it all on Abigail. If she had not shown up here, he might not have faced this embarrassment. The anger only escalated when he thought about it. Shooting a stern glare at her, he grabbed her arm and said fiercely, “Say sorry to her.”
“What?”
Abigail was stunned and couldn’t believe what she heard just now. He actually asked her to apologize to this woman. Who was she to him? Was she so important to him that he wanted her to apologize? She was furious when this thought passed her mind. “Do you really want me to apologize to her?” She asked to make sure again.
His grip around her arm tightened a bit more, making her whimper. He commanded coldly, “I said say sorry to her, Abigail.”
Resentment was evident in his eyes as well as in his tone, but she was also persistent. She would never say sorry to that woman who was trying to rob her boyfriend. She pulled her arm back forcefully and exclaimed, “I won’t. If you want to stay with her then stay. Don’t come after me. Mr. Aidan Thompson, we are done.” She pushed Aidan away and walked past him as soon as she finished speaking.
Rebeca, who was watching all this quietly a little far away from them, saw Abigail walking out of the restaurant, and she chased her after.
Aidan, on the other end, was exasperated. “f**k…” He cursed loudly and ran his fingers through his hair. He was so angry that he totally forgot about the presence of so many people. He turned around to leave, but Erica grabbed his wrist and asked frantically, “Where are you going? You can’t ruin our date because of that crazy woman.”
“Get off me.” He pushed her away and yelled at her. He cast a hot glare at her as if he was warning her to not meddle with him and stormed out of the restaurant.
Erica clenched her fists on her sides and glared at his retreating back. She was also infuriated. She didn’t like Abigail at all in the first place, and now because of her, Aidan left her. They planned to have dinner and spend the night together, but all their plans were ruined by Abigail. On top of that, she slapped her in front of so many people, tarnishing her image. She swore in her mind that she would teach Abigail such a lesson that she could never forget about that for the rest of her life. She came out of her trance when she saw Aidan moving away farther from her, and she rushed behind him, calling, “Wait… Aidan…”
Abigail walked to the parking lot, taking brisk steps, wiping her tears off her eyes continuously. Rebeca called her, “Abi, wait…” But she didn’t stop her steps. Finally, Rebeca reached out to grab her wrist and exclaimed, “Stop… Let’s talk. Don’t be impulsive.”
Abigail pulled her hand back and said, “I need some time alone. Go back and don’t follow me, okay?”
“But…”
“Please.”
Rebeca wanted to say something but Abigail didn’t allow her to speak. Judging by her infuriated look, Rebeca was certain that she wouldn’t listen to her, so she didn’t pursue her further. She saw her getting into the car and driving away from there. She sighed and turned to go to her car, but her steps froze in the track to see Aidan coming out of the restaurant, carrying a dangerous momentum with him. Erica also came running behind him and called him, “Aidan… wait for me…”
But Aidan got in the car and drove away from there, totally ignoring her. Erica only looked at the back of the rapidly moving car helplessly. Rebeca looked at her coldly for a while and went back to her car.
Abigail was driving at a high speed aimlessly. Tears were falling continuously. She couldn’t believe that Aidan was hanging out with someone else behind her. She thought he was always busy with his work, but it turned out that he was busy with that model. Now she recalled all those days she waited for him. Sometimes he canceled their dates, and sometimes he joined her late. Every time his excuse was the same… ‘I have a meeting.’ She naively believed in his words. Now only did she realize he was lying all those days. The pain and anger blended in her heart, increasing her agony more and more. Wiping her tears, she stepped on the accelerator and increased the speed a bit more.
After driving crazily for half an hour, she finally pulled off the car in front of a bar. It had been a while since she last visited the bar. She wanted to get drunk tonight to numb the pain in her heart. She looked at the bar for a while through the windshield. The word ‘Radiance’ was illuminated by different colored lights at the entrance to the bar. The color of the light was kept changing every second. After looking at the name of the bar for a while, she got out of the car and entered the bar.
Deafening music hit in her eardrum the moment she stepped inside. The entire bar was glowing in colorful lights, and she took a minute to adjust her eyesight in that lighting. She looked in the direction of the counter and saw an empty stool. She sat on the stool and ordered vodka. The bartender server her drink, and she started taking the shots. After taking 3 or 4 shots, her head started buzzing, and her vision also began to blur. She came here to forget the pain in her heart, but she felt sadder after taking a few shots. Now she wanted to share her feeling with someone. Then she thought of whom should she talk to. At that time, one name popped up in her mind… ‘Charles’. She didn’t know why this name came into her mind in the first place, but a smile surfaced in the corner of her lips when she remembered him. She dialed his number immediately without thinking further.
Charles was sitting in the general ward of a hospital beside the sickbed, looking at the pale face of Angelina. Sorrow was prominent on his face. Angelina mustered a smile and asked, “Why do you look so sad? I am not going to die. It’s just a fever.”
“But why are you having fever so frequently? Last month also you were hospitalized due to a fever. And look at you, you are getting thinner day by day. You are not hiding anything from me, are you?”
