Chapter 10- Her unreasonable demand

1774 Words
Angelina’s face became paler to hear that, and a glimmer of sadness darkened her eyes. She indeed concealed her ailment from him. But could she hide it forever? The answer was no. Sooner or later, he would find out about her illness. She opened her mouth to tell him but before she could utter a word his phone started ringing and she closed her mouth, feeling depressed in her heart.  Charles looked at the phone and frowned deeply. ‘Why is she calling me?’ He asked in his mind. Then his eyes moved the Angelina and said, “Excuse me. I have to take this call.” Angelina smiled and signaled him to carry on with a glance. Charles nodded at her before pressing the answer button, “Hello.” The moment the call connected, he heard loud music from the other side of the phone, and his eyebrows knitted even tighter. Then he heard her incoherent voice, “Charles, I am at… uh… What was the name… Oh yeah… Radiance… I am at Radiance bar. Can you come over here? I am alone, and I am feeling sad. I want to talk to you.”  Charles felt discomfort to hear that she was alone in the bar and asked frenetically, standing up from the chair, “Are you drunk?” “A little bit. Come quickly.” “Miss…” Charles wanted to continue the conversation, but before he could say anything, she hung up the call. “f**k… this woman.” He muttered under his breath and pressed his forehead as if he had a headache.  “Is everything alright?” Angelina couldn’t stay quiet to see his flustered face.  He looked at her with guilt in his eyes and said, “I need to go. It’s urgent.” He wanted to stay a little longer with her until her mother returned, but he was worried about Abigail too and couldn’t let her stay alone at the bar. Angelina smiled and said, “Go… I am fine. Mom will be back soon.” He sighed in dismay and said, “Okay, take care.”  He turned and left the ward soon after he finished speaking.  After getting into the car, he started the engine and stepped on the throttle. The car zoomed out and started running on the road at a high speed. The Radiance bar was a little far away from here, but he needed to reach there as soon as possible. He didn’t know why he became so restless. He was wiping his face with his palm continuously while driving.  It was almost an hour’s distance, but it only took him half an hour to get there. Parking the car on the roadside, he hurried inside the bar and looked around. He found her sitting on the stool, with her head down on the counter. Only then did he heave a sigh of relief. He approached her and called her, tapping on the shoulder, “Miss Mills…” She lifted her head to look at the source of the voice and saw a tall man looming over her. Her vision was blurred, and she was rubbing her eyes to see the person clearly. But her eyesight was still blurry. Then she heard him say again, “Let me take you home.”  His voice seemed familiar to her, and she recognized it. She smiled and asked, “Charles, is that really you? Ha… finally, you came.” “Yes. I am here to take you home. Come on, let’s go.” He reached out to hold her arms but she dodged and said, “No… It’s still early. I want to stay awhile here and…” She paused to grab his hand and then added, “I need to talk to you. I am in pain. I want to share my pain with you.” Her speech was slurry, and her body was swaying left and right as she talked.  Charles shook his head and said, “You are drunk. We can talk tomorrow. Let me help you to get out of here.” He again reached out to hold her arm but she pushed his hand away and said, “No… I want to talk to you right here right now. Didn’t you like hanging out with me? During these days you always followed me, even though I asked you not to come after me. Now that I want you to stay with me and listen to me, you are refusing me! Why?” Charles literally felt a headache after hearing her blabbering. It was hard for him to manage her in her sober state, and now that she was drunk, it became even harder. He didn’t know how to handle her. He scratched his head with frustration and thought of driving her home as soon as possible. Sighing, he said, “Okay, I will listen to you, but not here. I know a better place where we can talk. Let me take you there.”  He then held her arm and pulled her up. This time she didn’t refuse. In fact, she smiled at him and exclaimed, “Really? Then I am ready to go. Take me there, take me there.”  Just as she took two steps, she lost her balance and was about to fall, but his grip around her tightened, and he pulled her into his embrace. He sighed and picked her up horizontally and walked out of the bar. She giggled and asked, coiling her arms around his neck, “Why are you always good to me? Is it because of your boss’s order or is there something else?” He kept walking up to the car without paying attention to her. This made her unhappy, and the sadness in her heart that dissipated after seeing him again resurfaced in her mind. She pouted and said, “You don’t want to talk to me. Like Aidan, you don’t like me either. He is cheating on me. How dare he? I hate him.” Charles froze on the track and looked at the woman in his arms, creasing his eyebrows tight. ‘Aidan cheated on her!’ He mumbled in his mind with disbelief. Why did she have this misunderstanding? He couldn’t help but ask, “What are you talking about? Why do you think that he is cheating on you?”  “I don’t want to talk about him.” She dropped her head on his shoulder.  Charles resumed his walk to the car. He heard her say again, “I don’t want to go home. You take me to a hotel.” Charles didn’t reply to her. He walked up to the car and put her on the passenger seat. Then he fastened the seatbelt for her. Just as he was about to go to another side of the car, she grabbed his wrist and said, “Take me to a hotel.” He peeled her fingers off one by one from his wrist and said in his commanding tone, “Sit quietly. You are going back home.” As he said, he closed the door and walked around the car. He got in the car and inserted the key to start the engine, but she reached out to hold his arm and said, “I want to lose my virginity to you.” She didn’t make eye contact with him. She was looking down on her lap.  Charles’s felt like his ears were buzzing. He turned his head and looked at her, completely stunned. This woman was really drunk. She had no idea know what she was spouting. He felt terribly angry to hear her. If she said those words to any other man in that bar, that person wouldn’t wait to tear her apart. This thought only heightened his anger. His expression darkened, and his nostril flared. He said coldly, “Stop spouting nonsense. You are not allowed to say something like this.”  “Why? Why can’t I say it?” She raised her eyelids and looked at him. She was blinking frequently. Maybe she was trying to see his face clearly. “I am turning 24 in a few days, and I am still a virgin. I was saving it for Aidan, but now that he cheated on me, why should I care about it? He is enjoying his time with that blonde, so why can’t I have fun? I want to show him that I am also enjoying my life without him.” “Shut up…” Charles was enraged and roared. He cast a death stare at her and exclaimed, “One word… If you say another word, I will throw you out.” She gasped and shrunk back, startled. She looked at him without a blink. Tears started accumulating inside her eyes. Silence swept inside the car. Both were leveling the stare without a word. After a while, she broke the silence, “You scolded me. You also don’t like me.” She couldn’t control her tears from falling down. She sobbed and asked, “Am I not beautiful? Is my figure not attractive? Why can’t you sleep with me?”  Charles dropped his head back on the headrest and groaned with frustration, clenching the steering wheel tight. This woman was so irritating. He really wanted to stuff something inside her mouth, so that she couldn’t speak. Without paying her attention, he started the engine, and the car zoomed out. But Abigail still continued her unreasonable demand, “If you don’t want to sleep with me, I will find another man. Tonight I want to lose my virginity.”  Charles completely lost his composure. He stepped on the brake, and the car halted abruptly. Due to the inertia, her body moved forward and then came back. Sudden brake frightened her, and she looked ahead with horror. Before she could come to her senses, Charles pressed her down on the seat and said, daggering a fierce gaze at her, “You want me to take your virginity! Then I will fulfill your wish.” As he said, he lowered his head to kiss her lips.
