AUDREY'S POV
"Audrey, wake up! Our parents are downstairs," Liam's voice was panicking.
I instantly opened my eyes upon hearing what he said. Liam's half-naked body greeted me, making me gasp. I still feel a little disoriented, but I managed to stand up and go to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth before getting out to fix myself.
Today was saturday, and I had no idea why our parents were here. It's been five days since our fight and Liam had been acting a little strange lately. I often caught him looking at me, but when I turn to him, he'll immediately look away. We didn't talk about what happened, we just both decided to forget it. Ever since that encounter, I felt a little awkward around him too.
"Come on, let's go downstairs," he said as he got out of the walk-in closet. He was wearing a casual outfit, cargo shorts and a black V-neck T-Shirt. He held my hand and guided me out of the room.
I could feel the loud beating of my heart as well as the shaking of my knees because of his presence. Liam wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him as we approached the dining room where our parents were waiting. His masculine smell filled my nostrils, making me want to snuggle with him and feel his body next to mine.
"Oh, here comes the love birds," Alexa, Liam's mother said.
Her eyes were glinting with happiness for us. I smiled awkwardly, unknowing what to do. If they only knew the truth, they'd probably be scolding us now.
"Looks like they had a rough night," Mom commented after seeing my still messy hair.
I blushed at what they said, though it wasn't true. Nothing happened between us since the day of our wedding. If our parents knew, I'm sure they'd be disappointed. They made it clear that they wanted an heir right away. But how can we give them an heir if we have not yet consumed our marriage?
I just smiled at them before kissing them both on the cheeks. Our Dads were busy talking about business and stuffs and so Liam joined their conversation. I sat on my chai and grabbed some food on my plate.
"What a pleasant surprise! I'm glad you came and visited us," I said over breakfast.
"We missed you both. We're thinking about getting away for the rest of the weekend to spend it with the both of you," Mommy Alexa said.
I looked at them with confused eyes. A what? Vacation?
"Yes, honey. We're planning to go an beach date with you," my Mom added.
"Oh, is that so? We already have plans this weekend, haven't we, mi amore?" Liam asked me and I felt him kick me under the table.
I cleared my throat and looked at them with a smile before answering, "That's right, Mama, we already have plans this weekend."
Of course, it wasn't true. We have no plans at all. Well, I don't know about Liam, maybe he has plans with his woman. But I couldn't tell them the truth, even if I wanted to. Liam would surely despise me.
"Too bad, Liam. You know I don't take no for an answer. Besides, we really missed you and we wanted to spend this weekend with you two before we head to our vacation," Mommy Alexa contradicted.
I saw Liam turning red, but he didn't say a word. He heaved a deep sigh and smiled at his mom. Maybe it was tiring, huh, to pretend like everything's okay, to be manipulated and controlled without even giving you much of a choice. I could totally agree with him on this part.
"Fine, Mom. I'm sorry, mi amore, looks like we're going to cancel our plans," he looked at me apologetically and he held my hand.
I smiled at him in return, though I am really hurting deep within. How could he act so sweet in front of these people? How can he make them believe something that does not really exist? How can he make them believe that he loves me, when he doesn't?
"It's okay, Love, we'll have plenty of time to spend with each other," I said so sweetly and acted affectionate towards Liam as well.
"Thank you. I know you'd understand, Audrey. You are really perfect for my son," she praised me and all I did was to smile because I know Liam would never like what he was hearing. To Liam, I am the antagonist in his story.
After our breakfast, Liam and I walked back into our room hand in hand. As soon as he closed the door, he immediately let go of my hand like I was someone with a contagious disease. He looked at me disgustedly while pacing back and forth inside the room.
I got two suitcases for us and prepared our clothes while Liam was in the bathroom. I brought pairs of swimsuits and other casual clothes such as denim shorts, T-Shirts and crop tops. When Liam got out of the bathroom, he was holding his phone in his hand while talking to someone.
"I'm really sorry, honey," I heard him whisper. He sounded sincerely sad, and I thought, Angelie was so lucky to have him with her.
I stopped and looked at him, he was talking to Angelie. And he even dared to talk to her while he was in front of me. I wanted so bad to be mad at him, for making me feel worthless and small.
"What? You know I can't do that, Hon! I can't just disobey my parents!" He yelled, making me jump a little.
"f**k! Why can't you understand— Dammit!" He cursed loudly and almost threw his phone out of sheer anger.
He turned around and noticed me looking at him. I saw his dark expression, his eyes were dangerously angry and his eyebrows were raised.
"What are you looking at? Are you happy now?" He asked and immediately went out of the room.
I shook my head, even though I don't like Angelie, I never wanted to see Liam and hurting and pissed off. I continued packing our clothes and a few minutes later, Liam was back inside the room with his annoyed look. He's being grumpy and irritated so I just kept quiet.
"Aren't you done yet?" he asked impatiently.
"Just a moment, I'm almost done," I answered quickly.
As soon as I was done, I zipped the suitcases carefully and handed it to Liam. He grabbed it from my hand forcefully and went out of the room first. I was left standing in the doorway as I scanned the room before finally walking down.
The drive towards our destination was quite awkward. I was seated at the backseat of the car with Liam. Only our parents were talking while Liam and I remained quiet, unless it's necessary to say anything. I contented myself in watching the sceneries from the car window.
I rested my head on the headrest and closed my eyes. The long drive made me feel sleepy. Unconsciously, I drifted off to sleep.
When I woke up, the car has pulled to a stop in front of a private beach property. I was about to move my head when I felt something heavy on top of it, that's when I realized Liam had fallen asleep too. I was shocked and a little embarrassed to see that my head was on his shoulders and his head rested on mine. His right hand was also wrapped tightly around my shoulders.
I suddenly felt nervous as I realized how sweet our position was. The van seems quiet. Realizing we were left alone, I slowly moved to stretch carefully so as not to wake up Liam. I was about to open the door when his hand caught mine.
"Don't move," he said in a hoarse voice.
"But Liam— "
"Please, Audrey. Just let me do this for a few more minutes," he pleaded.
I don't know how to explain it, but it felt nice to be wanted by him. A warm feeling suddenly enveloped my heart. Ever since our wedding, Liam had been constantly cold and sarcastic towards me. I gulped and steadied myself, letting my guard down. For once, I just wanted to give in to him. This was what I've always wanted, and now that it's here, I'm not going to let it go.
After a while, Liam opened the door and got out. He also opened the door for me and held my hand as we walked inside. I was greeted by the warm breezy air and the cozy ambiance.
The property was not yet totally developed, but the construction was almost half-done. We saw our parents casually strolling along the beach and we waved at them.
"You're finally awake! Anyway, your things are already inside your villa. Here's your keys," Mommy Alexa said and handed us the key.
We made our way into our assigned villa. While walking, I admired the beautiful scenery that's laid out in front of me. The beach was a combination of bluish-green water, the trees were dancing through the wind and the birds were chirping like they're singing a song.
Liam led the way inside the villa. It was a medium-sized one storey house. There's a porch that's overlooking to the sea, wherein a small wooden table and a wooden bench was situated. There's a hammock outside, located near the porch. The insides of the villa was also breath taking. A large sunset painting hung on the wall. There was a couch and two single sofa seats, a wooden center table and a large television. The windows were all glass.
There was only one bedroom, but it was very spacious. It has it's own bathroom where you can see a bath tub and a shower room, it was large enough to accommodate two persons at a time. A king-sized bed was at the center and there's a bedside table. I saw our suitcases near the bed and I unloaded it immediately.
Liam was at the kitchen, probably looking for something to eat. I stood in the window and looked at the calming sea water. The loud crashing of the waves are like music to my ears. The bright sunlight made the horizon look like glimmering silver dusts. It looked so inviting, so beautiful.
I decided to go swimming. I went inside the bathroom and changed into my sunshine yellow two-piece bikinis. As I was heading out, I caught up with Liam who was holding a wine glass. He turned to me and his eyes immediately darken. I wanted to take my eyes away from him but his gaze was like a magnet, pulling me, captivating my eyes.
He slowly walked towards my direction and stopped in front of me. His hand moved and touched my shoulder, slightly massaging it down to my arms. The sudden contact made my heart leap and heat consumed me.
"L-liam..."
"Sshh. Let's set aside our differences. Let's make this weekend, a weekend to remember, Audrey."
To be continued...
