LEAH'S POV
-----
"Ahh...Stop it!!!" I groaned as the ridiculous alarm croaked in the comfortable morning to wake me up. My beautiful slumber as I was wrapped in my soft white duvets, was ruined.
I, for one, couldn't believe how people even loved to wake up in the morning, for I despised it. Even though I worshipped working, I typically hated waking up in the morning.
I wondered how good it would feel to work after waking up at noon. It would’ve been bliss and more than half of the population who didn't like their job would stop complaining about at least one thing, waking up.
I chuckled.
This was one of the worst parts about growing up and going to work. Even though my Dad owned the company, I was still dealt with like a regular worker. He was very strict and the most unbiased person I'd ever seen in terms of work ethics.
Apart from work, he was a big goofball. He’d give us lessons and tips about running this massive empire he and Uncle Jacob had created after years of hard work.
He always told us the stories of his success and failures, hardships and battles that he had experienced in his life, so we could be enlightened from it. We were always happy to hear those experiences and learn from them.
Even though I was thinking, I felt laziness wrap around my body like a second skin and I didn't want to wake up, but just keep on thinking. I slept again and then my phone buzzed. I groaned as I cursed at the person who was calling me.
Luke Hemmington; my eternal enemy.
It was very typical of him to attain that. Not the calling, the troubling. I made a poker face and looked at the buzzing phone. The ringing ceased and I sighed. But, to my incredible luck, the phone rang again.
Oh, the sarcasm.
I answered the phone this time, knowing it would keep ringing until I didn’t.
"What is it, Luke? Stop bothering me since the sun rose." I grunted onto the phone. My voice still hoarse because of just waking up. I wanted nothing more than five more minutes of sleep.
"Well, good morning to you, my lady. How thoughtful of you to greet me!" He commented sarcastically. I snickered at him and his snide comment.
"Typical of you. Now, say what it is, I've got to get ready." I told him as I rolled over and slept on my back looking up at the ceiling above.
"Yeah, you've got to get that lazy prude ass ready for work, don't you now?" He commented with a laugh and I gave a poker face even though he couldn't see me.
"Do you want me to hang up on you?" I asked him, already fuming through my ears. I could've kicked his butt if he were present here. He stopped laughing immediately.
"Well, no. Or maybe you would miss the announcement." He declared. Now, he ultimately caught my attention. I sat up straight, pulling myself up as I laid my back against the headboard.
"Tell. Me." I warned him in a very serious tone hoping that he'd understand how serious I was.
"Okay. There's our first meeting today. It was rescheduled for today somehow at 10 am, sharp." He asserted and my eyes opened as wide as a hawk. I immediately got down from the bed and peeked at my watch.
9.14 a.m.
"Get lost!" I yelled quickly as I hung up the call and threw the phone on the bed as I rushed to the bathroom to get ready at a God awful speed, where I injured my leg once, already.
I cursed Luke for being such a butthead. He knew everything but still tortured me to death.
The only fact that he was my best friend, insured him or, he was done getting head banged on the wall by now, for all the distress he put me through.
When Dad notified me that I was finally eligible to work for the company, I was very delighted, until the real news hit my ears.
I was going to work in partnership with Luke.
Luke was the best guy for parties, night-outs and man-w*****g, but he was the worst one to work with. He was more of a lazy flirting stupid brat and not the serious guy you’d be teaming up for career-related serious stuff.
Shaking his thoughts away, I immediately got ready.
I had a lilac shirt on with a cream skirt-suit. I put my ginger red hair into a ponytail and glanced at my green eyes that shone brightly. I wore my heels as I applied a maroon lipstick and sprayed some perfume. I grabbed my bag and hurried downstairs.
"Wait for your breakfast, Leah! I made white sauce pasta for you." Mom shouted at me and I instantly scurried to the table and snagged up two sandwiches, to go.
"Mom, I would've waited, for it's my favourite but I've got my first meeting. I'm already late. Where's Dad? Left already?" I inquired her one after one as I stuffed one of the sandwiches in my mouth, messily.
"Dad is keeping up at home. He is sick. You carry on. Your lovely Jacob might be there with you for the meeting, then." She explained and I immediately paused. I gave her a worried glance as I chewed down my sandwich.
"Is he extremely sick? I might go and give him a little visit. The meeting can be..." She paused me and shook her head with a small smile.
"Mild fever. Meet him at night, he's sleeping now anyway." She informed me and I was kind of relieved that it was just a fever. I nodded as relief flew through me.
"Good. He isn't going to teach me the basic life lessons of a businessman; punctuality." I mimicked 'punctuality' in Dad's voice and Mom laughed. He would’ve lectured about how I should be punctual.
"He does educate you those things for your good," Mom muttered taking Dad's side and I shook my head, dramatically.
"Taking your husband's side again it is, then," I commented and sighed like it was so difficult for me. She smirked at me.
"Always." And we both laughed.
"Well, warn him to take care of himself or I might have to teach him basic life lessons of a human; self-care." I laughed as I took another bite of my sandwich. I was still regretting that I couldn't eat my favourite pasta.
"Sure, I'll rely on the message for you. He will consider your words." She taunted and I smiled meekly at her. I took another bite of my mayo sandwich.
"Weren't you getting delayed for your first meeting?" She almost sounded taunting and my eyes opened wide. That meeting was the only reason I wasn't devouring my pasta.
Shit!

"Oh, shit." I cursed under my breath. Whilst at one side I wanted to get out of here, I was feeling the kick.
"Anything wrong?" He asked and was about to turn back when I held his face, making him look at me and cover my face. His eyes gave away his surprise at my action.
"Are you a good kisser?" I asked him and confusion covered his eyes.
"What? Why?" He asked and I stared into his eyes.
"Because I don't want my kiss to be wasted," I answered him and immediately pulled him down to me, kissing him on his soft plump lips.
