Wednesday, morning
The major lived in a new condo in Rosslyn near the Key Bridge. “It’s amazing, isn’t it?” she said as she fumbled with her apartment keys. “I heard that this location used to be part of the old red-light district. A few real estate guys came in and cleaned the location out in a matter of months when the cops couldn’t do it in years. And now, it’s all expensive apartments and condos and a few high-end shops. Amazing, isn’t it?”
She tripped the lock, opened the door slightly, and peered in.
“It’s okay,” she said, opening the door wider. “I always check to make sure my automatic light is on and that one of the birds didn’t wiggle through the wire.”
