Chapter 5

Damien I sat upright in bed; the room was still dark. I tried to calm my racing mind but couldn’t. “Amelia” Her name came out in a whisper. A knot formed in the pit of my stomach, and I heard a whimper from Oliver. Our mate was in danger. “What do I do? She’s gone out of her way to make it impossible to find her. How do I even start?” I asked out loud to no one. Oliver just whined. Her fear was strong. No pain though. That’s good. For now. I mind link Archie to meet me in my office and hurry up to get there myself, throwing on a pair of jeans and a v neck sweater. I head to my office, reaching it at the same time as Archie. “Mia...She’s in trouble.” “What do you need me to do?” He asks, following me inside. I flip on the lights and take a seat, opening my laptop and taking out my phone. “I don’t…I have no idea! I don’t know how to find her…last time I tracked her down she used a barrier spell to separate us and teleported away. O have no idea where to start. She’s afraid and I don’t know where to even begin, how to protect her, how to save her...” “Okay okay…listen” He interrupted me as I spiraled, “She’s a witch? So maybe, we can find her, using a witch.” “I don’t know any witches.” I interrupt, slamming my fist into the desk in frustration A moment passes before he speaks up. “She does” he says quietly. He doesn’t have to clarify who SHE is; I already know. A witch is how she trapped me into this sham of a marriage. Fucking Bailey. I tapped my fingers impatiently on the desk while I waited. I had sent Archie had been gone for almost two hours to get her and I was getting more and more annoyed at how long it was taking. Finally, I heard them coming down the hall, and strode across the room, yanking open the door before they reached it. “f**k what took you so long?” I snap “Relax big daddy…I was in the bath” Bailey purrs, pressing her body into mine. I push her off, and turn, leading them both into the room. Archie closed the door behind us. “Sit” I demand, but she just stands there. I note that she took the time to fix her hair and makeup, wearing a tight, low cut red dress and platform pumps. What did she think I wanted? “Let me have a moment with her” Oliver snarls “I said SIT. DOWN.” I glower, my alpha voice causing her to sit without hesitation, though the flash of fear in her eyes gives me a small glimmer of satisfaction. “What do you want?” Her voice is timid. She knows not to push me. “A witch. We need a witch.” Archie responds before me. For a moment I see a mixture of realization and fear in her eyes, but quickly the return to defiance. “Why would I help you?” She asks I let out a short chuckle, “I will kill you if you don’t” I warn “I’m already dead” She responds. An uncomfortable silence stretches between us as I contemplate the best approach to take. I sit down in the empty chair beside her and take her hands, looking into her eyes. “Bailey. I know we aren’t the best together, but you are this packs, Luna. I don’t want to see you hurt, but I need to know, where can I find a witch.” I hope that taking a more tender approach will work. I see her eyes soften, her body relaxes, and she leans in closer to me. “Damien.I.. I can’t. You don’t understand, witches hate us. They wont help. No witch will help you.” “Let me deal with the details. Just tell me how to find one” “You don’t get it Damien” her tone darkens, “They won’t help you, shes theirs now” I look at Archie as the realization settles in. I spring to my feet and grab her by her throat, pulling her out of her chair. Archie steps closer, a low growl rippling from his chest, as Oliver lingers dangerously close to the surface. “What the f**k did you do?!” I snarl in her face. “What I had to do. Youll see. As soon as that little b***h is gone, you won’t miss her. Youll love me. They way youre supposed to!” She screams, tears springing to her eyes. I throw her to the ground. “Take her to the basement of the training facilities.” I snap at Archie. He pulls her up by her arm, yanking her towards the door. “Youll see, youll see!” She screams hysterically as he drags her out of the room. “I will never love you!” I shout back as her screams fade down the hall. Collapsing into the chair, I bury my head in my hands. Now what.
