Chapter_61: Two Glocks and a Monk

1073 Words
It was nearly midnight now- just over 15 minutes left to go. Billy stood alongside Raven outside the gate of the museum with greedy eyes, waiting for the Dillingers to arrive. Raven checked her gun, just in case something went wrong- she never trusted anyone- especially men. It was a quarter to 12:00 when the Dillinger brothers sneaked out of nowhere and greeted Billy. “So what are we waiting for? Let’s hit that mother-” said one of them. “Easy boys, its usually around midnight that most of the guards nod off to sleep- I know this- it will be much easier to sneak an attack at that time- hold on for a few minutes-” replied Billy. Meanwhile Johnathan and the two monks were approaching the same museum, looking for the Royal Guardian Armour. Johnathan was driving the car while the two of them- Solomon and Farid, were humming along to the Arabian songs on the stereo- they seemed to be enjoying that stuff. Johnathan barely understood a word but he assumed that it must be about a scorned lover regretting upon losing his love. The two seemed quite complacent, given the risky mission. Johnathan wondered how he was convinced into this plan of stealing/borrowing an ancient relic- Lisa would kill him if she knew. He was half an hour away- The clock struck twelve and the gang of thieves jumped into action immediately. The Dillingers were the first to go- both of the brothers climbed and jumped off the high wall and quietly ran towards the building. Raven and Billy followed. The brothers somehow climbed the three storied building with the help of the rope. Raven was amazed at their agility. Billy reached the front door and slowly unlocked it with his tools. Both of them wore black masks as they entered the front hall. Even though there were cameras in the lobby- Billy was sure that the guy watching the cameras was asleep by now. He knew how the underpaid guards were in this city. There was another sleepy old guard in the reception corner- Billy went and knocked him off with some chemical and tied him. Next they climbed up the stairs, towards the camera room and knocked off the guard in there in similar fashion. Raven sat down to shut down all cameras and wipe the hard drives- removing every evidence of them. She then turned off the alarm system and cut off the wires from the panic button, that could alert the police. Then there was only one guard remaining- the one who patrolled the lobby outside the vault where the eye was kept. They saw him loitering lazily in the lobby and then slowly dozing off in his chair. Raven sneaked up on him from behind and was about to knock him down when he suddenly turned and grabbed her arm. He then took out his stick to hit her when suddenly Billy shot him in the chest with his gun that had a silencer on. The guard collapsed and fell down. Raven turned towards Billy in surprise- “Was that really necessary? I had him-” she remarked. “Calm down woman- this ain’t the first time that I’ve shot a man-”he said taking out his walkie talkie. “Yeah- all clear- do your thing-” he said to the Dillingers. The vault was at the far end of the lobby from where Billy was standing. The brothers were already in place- they were only waiting for the alarm system to turn off. Using their thieving skills, they drilled a hole in the vault, and pumped liquid nitrogen into it. It was only a matter of time before the nitrogen would turn the steel door into a huge block of ice and after that, all they had to do was to hit it with a large hammer. Billy and Raven approached them and watched them perform their magic! Johnathan stopped his truck just a few metres away from the museum gate. Farid and Solomon got out. "So what's the plan? We can't just walk in there in the middle of the night- " asked Johnathan getting out of the truck. "Brother Farid, you stay in the truck, in case of emergency, we will call you- Johnny, you and I are going to break in-" explained Solomon. Johnathan followed him, while Farid sat in the truck. Solomon stood in front of the locked gate and looked at Johnathan- "I bet you can help me with the lock-"smiled Solomon. Johnathan had brought his sword with him. With one swing, he cut through the iron lock and threw the gate open. Then he started walking through the lawn fearlessly. "What about the guards?" asked Johnathan. "I'll handle it-well halloa! Look at that- the lock on the door has been forced open- somebody else is here-" said Solomon, slowly pushing the door open. As soon as they stepped in through the entrance, they saw the unconscious guard, tied up in a corner. "Well that takes care of the guard- son- we have company tonight- let's go greet them-"said Solomon reaching into his jacket and pulling out two guns. Johnathan was surprised- it was odd to see a holy man with guns in his hands. He was also surprised how calm and confident Solomon was, like he had done this a hundred times before. Both of them went upstairs, following the sane route that Billy and Raven had followed earlier. The Royal Armour was not in the vault but in a room in the lobby. Nobody thought it was a priceless and powerful artefact and that's why the authorities didn't bother to lock it up in the vault. As they reached closer to the lobby, they heard metal clanging and hammering. The lobby was 20 metres long, at the end of which lay the secure vault, which was now being broken into by the Dillingers. Both Solomon and Johnathan walked carefully towards the lobby and hid themselves behind the wall- they saw two men with masks breaking into the vault. "Another burglary? What in the world! How are we supposed to get our stuff now?" Johnathan whispered. "We take them out too-" Solomon whispered back. Johnathan didn't like the idea and he found it self contradictory to stop the other team of burglars when he himself was there to steal!
