Chapter_60: From the Father to the Son

1680 Words
"The Sins of the Father are to borne by the son..." Johnathan was surprised to know that the Elder clan was attacked by demons, not less than 30 years ago and only a handful of them had survived including Solomon and Farid. Both of them were leading normal lives for a long time now and hiding among other normal people, doing normal things, even though they possessed great knowledge and skills. “We hide in plain sight but we always sleep with one eye open- looking out for the Demons!” smiled Brother Farid. “And we also keep an eye out for talents like you- Guardians- that are born with great powers but are not aware of their potential. We train them and make them aware of their future. You were born with great abilities Son and you’re only going to get stronger each day!” remarked Solomon. “Wait you mean I had these- these abilities from birth? But I thought that these were hereditary powers, passed on from Father to Son?” asked Johnathan looking confused. Solomon looked at Farid- “You didn’t tell him?” he asked. “Well- I was waiting for the perfect time-”said Farid. “Tell me what-”asked Johnathan. “Listen carefully-”said Solomon drawing a long breath “I’ve already told you about what had happened 30 years ago in that Church- the war between the Guardians and the Demons and how one of the Guardians sacrificed his life in the war... Well that Guardian was your father!” Johnathan’s whole world turned upside down after hearing this. He was in shock- “That’s impossible- my father was a mechanic. Both of my parents died in a car crash!” he said. “No, son, that was a lie- to safeguard you from the real truth. You were quite young then, your grandparents told you this, so that you wouldn’t be burdened with the harsh reality. And we thought it was fair because we didn’t expect you to have any Guardian abilities- you showed no signs of it at that young age. But Brother Farid here always said that you had great potential and one day you would turn out to be a Guardian too-” said Solomon trying to be as kind as possible. But Johnathan was finding it hard to believe. “What? You people lied to me for my entire life? And now you’re telling me that it was fair? How dare you? And what about my mother? She was a Guardian too-” Johnathan was angry. “No- she was killed by a demon- like the one possessing you right now- one of the seven fallen ones-” replied Farid. “God! I can’t believe you guys- after all I’ve done for you- I deserved at least some honesty from you!” said Johnathan walking away from them. “Please calm down- I know you’re angry but you must understand that whatever we did was to protect you-” replied Solomon. “I admit that it was my fault that I kept this hidden from you for such a long time but I would have told you sooner or later” said Farid. “And there’s more to this than you understand- your father had not only passed on the Guardian blood on to you but also his weapons, which is why I’m here- to show you how to get the weapons back!” Solomon said. “Just- just leave me alone-”said Johnathan and walked out of the room. Solomon looked at Farid with guilty eyes. “Just give him some time- I know him- let him calm down-”said Farid. Johnathan went outside the shop and stared at the busy market while still trying to process what he had just heard. It was evening now and Raven and Billy were sitting in the car outside the museum, waiting for it to close. They were here on a heist- to rob the museum! There was hardly anything valuable in there that would bring them not more than a few thousand bucks but they were there for the big prize- the mother load as Billy had described. According to Billy, there was an object in the museum so priceless that if they were able to sell it, they wouldn’t have to work for their rest of their lives. Raven hated this job where they had become no less than a common burglar but Billy thought otherwise. He said that this object was not only priceless but immensely powerful. It was known as the “Eye of Horus”- the all seeing eye. It was believed to have come form the golden era of the Egyptian dynasty and it was said to possess magical abilities. Billy showed Raven a picture of how it looked like- it was indeed shaped like an eye, made from pure gold, about 20 cms. in length and there was a black gem in place of the eyeball. This gem, was said to be the gateway to other realms and the outer frame of the eye was only meant as a decoration to hold this gem. Billy already had a buyer who would pay more than a million bucks for the eye, for the shape of the eye was of pure unadulterated gold but he planned to keep the gem for himself and forge a fake one and sell the rest of the eye to the buyer. He could have both money and power all from one heist. It would be a simple in and out job. There were two old guards who would be easy to take out. But there was a guy upstairs, watching over the CCTV cameras and then there was the room of special collections that was locked by a reinforced steel door like a vault. Raven had asked two of the most notorious thieves in the city to help her in the heist in return for a fat percentage of the sale. The theives- known as the Dillinger brothers, were responsible for almost every major theft in the country and yet they have managed to elude the police all this time. The plan would go into action exactly around midnight, one of the Dillinger brothers would enter the locked vault and break it down while Raven and Billy knocked out the guards. And then it would be child's play to steal the Eye. They just needed to make sure that the guards were immobilised before aby one of them pressed the panic button that would alert the police. But none of them has any idea how the night would go...for now, they observed the place carefully and drove away, to return later... It was 7 p.m. and Johnathan was in his room with the lights off and staring at the window as usual. He kept thinking of what Solomon had said earlier- Farid entered the room- "So all of this because of my Father- because he chose to be a Guardian and now I have to bear the same responsibility- I never asked for this- I wanted a normal life-" he said. "Don't be naive- you were saved because of the Guardian blood that you inherited- without it, you'd have been a drunk cripple wasting your life away-"replied Farid standing next to him. Johnathan sighed. It was true what he said- without this gift he would have been long dead- "You're lucky to have received this gift my friend- you can save people's lives-not many of us can do that- " Farid said. "I guess you're right- what can I do if it's my fate to protect the world!" remarked Johnathan. "Come with me- Solomon has something to show you-" said Farid and went out of the room. Johnathan followed him downstairs and saw Solomon sitting on a chair with a book in his hand. "I hope you've dealt with your anger- because I have something important to show you-"said Solomon. "What is it?" asked Johnathan. Solomon opened the book and placed it on the table. There was a picture of an old knight's armour in it. "This is the Royal Armour of the Master Guardian- currently it sits in a closed vault in the national museum-" he said. "Hm- looks kinda old!"remarked Johnathan. "Old- like a thousand years old. You are familiar with the armour of God that you possess- it helps you to deflect fatal blows from mortal weapons. Well this armour will help you against supernatural weapons- you will be truly invincible!" explained Solomon. "I have to wear that? Looks kinda bulky-"said Johnathan. "Ha ha- no my boy- you simply touch it and it gets absorbed in you- it's a spiritual thing- the material part is just for show-"he said. "So all I've to do is to touch it?"asked Johnathan. "Yes- if it accepts you then it will get absorbed in you- if it doesn't then well- it will cause some kind of radiation disease- Ah! You'll be fine though-" said Solomon. "What? Are you serious?"remarked Johnathan. "It's your father's armour- surely it will recognise you- and you really need this- the monsters and Demons are levelling up and you can't expect to carry on without this armour-" Farid argued. "But its locked in a museum-"Johnathan argued back. "That's true- which is why we are going to go get it tonight-"replied Farid. "You mean steal it?"asked Johnathan. "More like borrowing it for a few days- we will return it later- I'm sure they'll understand-" Solomon winked. Johnathan couldn't believe this- these monks were actually planning to steal something from the museum- they must be desperate, he thought- on the other hand he wondered if things have gone so bad that these two were willing to do anything to make him strong enough! Things weren't looking too good for him right now...
