Xavier King
"You know your sister is upset with you right?" Were the first words out of my mother's mouth when I answered the phone.
I sighed and spun around in my chair.
"I know mum, but this meeting was really important. I really could not reschedule." I said.
"It seems like there's a lot of more important things other than seeing your family these days." She muttered, and I grimaced.
"Mum-"
"No Xavier. Amelia was right. Ever since you took over from your father two years ago, you've made less and less time for us. I'm lucky if I even get to talk to you twice for the week. And what is up with you skipping Sunday dinners now? All I ask is for a couple hours of your time so you can at least spend some of it with your bloody family once a week, and now you can't even give us that, Xavier?" I heard the sadness in her voice, and frowned.
Wasn't everything just fine a few days ago?
"Mum... Whats going on? Where is all of this coming from?" I asked.
"It's coming from you failing to put time aside for us! I know I've been quiet about it. I haven't been saying much because I hoped at one point you would stop working yourself to the ground. But bloody hell, Xavier! It's becoming too much now, and your siblings are suffering because of it. A phone call is not enough sometimes. They want you here, especially Luke and Amelia. You know how Amelia feels about you. She still looks at you like you hung the bloody moon and stars. She's starting to resent you and I hate that." My heart twisted in my chest, and I ran a hand through my hair.
"Okay mum. I get it. I guess I haven't been making much time for any of you. I'll cancel my meeting and I'll come home now." I said.
"Half the day is gone already, Xavier. If you truly cared, you wouldn't have put another meeting before your family, once again. I just thought I should've given you a heads up about how your sister's feeling. I love you son and I'm proud of you, but you need to do better when it comes to your family." She said, before hanging up.
Ah, f**k.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, before spinning my chair around, and calling Anabelle in.
"Yes sir?" She popped in through the door.
"Reschedule the meeting with Ross for sometime next week. I have an important family matter to attend to." I muttered.
"B-But sir, Mr. Ross isn't going to be-" I rose a brow.
"I said, reschedule the meeting Anabelle. If he fusses, let me know. I'll handle it, but right now I have to go be with my family. After you're done with that, you're free to go." I said.
"Um, yes sir. If you don't mind me as-"
"I do mind. I don't pay you to question me." I interrupted, and her cheeks turned a bright red, before she scurried out of my office.
Yeah it was harsh, but I don't give a f**k. She's not entitled to answers about my personal life.
I stood, loosening my tie, and pulling it off before reaching into my drawer and grabbing my car keys. I grabbed my phone, shoving it into my pocket, before walking over to my private elevator.
I made it down to the underground parking garage, and slid into my Range Rover, making the two hour trek to my parent's house.
———————————
I pulled up in front of the house, parking in front of the door, before grabbing the house keys that I kept in my glove compartment.
Luckily for me the keys were in this car and not any of my others.
I slid out of the car, taking a little stretch, before walking up to the door.
I opened the door, and walked in, looking around the huge foyer. I couldn't hear any voices in the living room or the kitchen, so I walked through the house to the backyard, where the pool was.
Bloody f**k.
That was my first thought when I saw the angel laying on the lounge chair, soaking up the sun.
My mouth became dry as my heart pounded in my chest, and my c**k began to harden in my pants.
Who the f**k was that?
"Xavier!" It actually hurt to tear my eyes away from the sweet angel in the tiny bikini, but I managed, seeing Luke run towards me.
Hell. Did that kid grow since the last time I saw him?
He hugged me, and I chuckled.
"What's up, little brother? How have you been?" I asked, shoving my hands into my pockets.
By now, all eyes were on us, even the brown haired angel, and I felt a sense of satisfaction as her eyes perused me from head to toe.
"I've been good. I haven't seen you around much." He said, and I rubbed the back of my neck.
"Yeah... I've been busy, but I promise you'll see more of me now." I said, and he grinned.
"Cool. Maybe you could come watch one of my basketball games then." He said, and I nodded.
"Let me know when, and I'll make time." I ruffled his hair, making him duck and bat my hands away.
I stepped out onto the huge patio, making my way over to my mother and grandmother.
"Hello Mum. Granny." I kissed their heads, before sitting on the seat across from them and making sure I had a perfect view of the beautiful little angel.
"I see you've finally decided to bless us with your presence. I thought you had a meeting?" My mother asked, before taking a sip of her tea.
"I cancelled it. I decided that spending the rest of the weekend with my family was more important." I said, leaning back in the chair.
"Hm." Was my mother's only reply, and I sighed.
"Where's Meely Bug?" I asked, seeing as she wasn't outside.
"She went inside to change." Granny responded.
"How has work been son?" She asked, giving me a small smile.
At least she's not mad at me.
"Work's been work granny. It's been stressful, and a downright pain in the behind." I sighed.
"It'll get better, don't worry." She patted my hand, making me smile.
My eyes kept straying to the brown haired girl, but I couldn't find a way to ask about her without making it too obvious that I was interested.
If I showed any signs of interest in her, my mother would have our f*****g wedding planned by the end of the day.
I kid you not.
Thankfully, Amelia walked out in her bathing suit with a smile on her face, which quickly died into a scowl when she saw me, and I winced .
She ignored me, instead going to sit next to my future girl.
Yes, I've staked my claim on her already and I have no f*****g shame about it.
"Meely Bug." I called out, but she steadily ignored me, choosing to talk to her friend instead who was covertly stealing glances at me.
"Excuse me Mum, Granny." I stood, walking away from the table and towards my sister.
"Good evening ladies." I greeted, sitting on the lounge chair next to Amelia.
"What are you doing here, Xavier?" She muttered, rolling her eyes and I frowned.
She never calls me Xavier. Ever since she was a baby. She's never called me that.
"I'm here to see you, Meely Bug. It's not everyday I get to see my only baby sister." I said.
She scoffed and cut her eyes at me.
"If I was so important to you, why weren't you here earlier?" She asked.
"Mi Mi..." Both our eyes flew to the green eyed angel and I almost drooled.
Bloody hell. She's more f*****g perfect up close. Her tanned skin looked soft and silky, and I just wanted to run my hands over it.
Her big green eyes were expressive and I could see myself getting lost in them.
Don't even get me f*****g started on those lips. They were plump, and the most perfect pink of shade I've ever seen.
Shit, I'd love to see them wrapped around my c**k.
I silently thanked god that I still had my suit jacket on, as it helped hide the massive erection that I had in my pants.
I zoned back in just in time to hear her come to my defense, and I think I liked her even more now.
"I understand how you're feeling, but stop giving him such a hard time. He still came for you." She said softly, her voice doing things to my heart that I wasn't sure I liked.
Fucking hell. What is this girl doing to me?
"But Livy, this isn't the first time he's done this, and I think I reserve every right to be mad." I cringed when I heard Amelia say that.
Have I really been blowing off my family that much?
Before I could let the guilt set in, I took a deep breath and jumped in to the conversation.
"I'm sorry Meely Bug. You do have every right to be upset with me. I should've been here." I said softly, and she looked up at me with sad eyes, which made me feel even more like an asshole.
Amelia and I have always been close, despite our age difference. I was the oldest of all my siblings, and I took pride in protecting all of them, but my protective instincts intensified when it came down to her because she's the only girl.
I was the one taking care of her when I was younger, changing her diapers, feeding her her bottles, playing with her until it was time for her to sleep. I was always there to pick her up when she fell, or berate my brothers when they were playing too rough with her. I was the one scaring all her boyfriends and chasing them away while our old man was working. I was always there for her to talk to me when she needed to, and seeing that I hurt her so much with my absence, hurt me.
Amelia got up from her lounge chair and came to sit next to me, wrapping her arms around me. I gave her a squeeze back.
"I'm sorry Meely Bug. I promise I'll make it up to you." I murmured, kissing the top of her head.
"S'ok Bubba. You're here now." She mumbled into my shirt, making me smile.
She still sounded like the little girl that I took care of.
"Now, aren't you going to introduce me to your friend?" I pinned my eyes on the girl in question, watching her skin flush under my stare.
"Oh. Bubba, this is my friend, Olivia. Livy, this is my oldest brother, Xavier." Amelia said as she sat up.
"Pleasure to meet you." I held my hand out to her, and when our skin touched, a bolt of sparks shot down my arm, almost making me jump back.
What the f**k?
"N-Nice to meet y-you too." She stuttered, jerking her hand away.
I wanted to grab her hand again and hold onto it longer, but I controlled myself.
I turned my attention to Amelia instead.
"So how has school been?" I asked, leaning back into the lounge chair as she returned to her seat.
In my reclined position, I had a great view of Olivia out of the corner of my eye.
Amelia was talking excitedly about school, and I was only half listening, as I kept sneaking glances at my little green eyed beauty who was smiling down at her phone.
I wondered what was making her smile like that.
Or who.
Fuck. What if she has a boyfriend? I don't think my heart would be able to f*****g take it if she did.
I made a mental note to call my head of security and have him look into her.
I zoned back in just in time to hear Amelia tell me about some uni boy that she started talking to.
"Hold the f**k up. Who is this guy you're talking to? I want a name, age, and major." I said seriously and she groaned loudly.
"Bubs, please don't scare this one off. I actually like him!" She whined.
"Amelia. I want his name, now." I said sternly.
"Xavi! Leave her alone. She's 21, she's old enough to date." Mum called out, making my father perk up.
"Date who?" Dad asked.
"Mum! You see what you did?!" Amelia pouted.
"Who are you dating princess?" He asked, but she didn't answer.
I heard Olivia giggle quietly beside her, and my hands clenched into fists at the sweet sound.
I want to - no, I need to hear that sound again.
Fuck. I need to find a way to approach this girl, and soon. I needed to claim her before someone else did.
"Amelia. His name, now." I gave her "the look", as she liked to call it, which never failed to make her fall in line when she was younger.
"Joshua Prescott." She mumbled, shooting a playful glare at Olivia who looked amused at her expense.
I took out my phone, dialing my head of security, Ryan.
"What can I do for you boss?" He asked, picking up immediately.
"I want you to look into someone for me. He's a boy that goes Amelia's school. His name is Joshua Prescott. Send me the full report when you're done." I said, pushing Amelia away as she tried to grab my phone.
"No, Ryan! Don't do it!" Amelia shouted, and I heard him chuckle.
"Consider it done, boss." He responded.
"Good. That's not all I need you to do, but we'll talk about that later." I said.
"Yes Sir." I hung up the phone, looking at Amelia who now has her arms crossed over her chest and was pouting.
"I don't know why you're pouting over what I did. You know I always scout anyone who you become involved with." I said, making her roll her eyes.
"Yes, I know Bubba, but I thought you would've eased up now that I'm older!" She whined, making me roll my eyes.
"Not gonna happen Meely Bug." I chuckled and she huffed.
I glanced over at Olivia and she was looking at us with a melancholy smile, which made me frown.
I'm going to have to get Ryan to do that background check as soon as possible.
We spent the next hour outside, before everyone went to get ready for dinner.
"I'm taking everyone out. My treat." I said, and my mother clapped her hands excitedly.
"Great! Where are we going?" She asked enthusiastically.
"Core." I said, and she smiled.
"Everyone, be down by 8." I said, before heading off to my room.
————————————
Olivia Grey
"You look amazing." Amelia squealed, making me roll my eyes.
Since we were going to a five star restaurant, I had to borrow a dress from Amelia because I didn't have any dresses that were suitable for the occasion.
The dress was a little tight on me, as I had a little more curves than Amelia, but it still looked amazing. It was a silky, burnt orange color that complimented my golden skin amazingly. I paired it with a pair of nude heels that I brought.
My hair was straightened, and I did some light makeup because I didn't have the energy to do anything else.
"Let's go downstairs before Xavier comes up here." She sighed.
I followed her out of the room down to the already noisy foyer where everyone was waiting.
Christian walked over to me, his eyes trailing over my body and making me blush.
"Hey beautiful. Do you want to ride with Luke and I?" He smiled, reaching up to brush a lock of hair out of my face.
A low rumble came from behind me, before a hand wrapped around my waist.
What the f**k?
I turned with wide eyes and looked up to see Xavier glaring at Christian.
Seriously. What the f**k.
The two stared at each other for a moment, before Christian rolled his eyes and walked away, muttering under his breath.
Xavier turned those heated ice blue eyes on me, and I wanted to run.
What was his problem?
"You're riding with Amelia and I." He said gruffly, unwrapping his arm from around my waist.
Everyone was watching us in shock and with interest, causing my face to turn a deep shade of red.
"Let's go." Everyone seemed to snap out of the trance that they were in, and headed out the door, while I stood there a little dazed.
What just happened?
"Olivia." Xavier's deep silky voice brought me out of my stupor, and I looked up at him.
"Let's go." Somehow, I managed to get my feet to work, and I walked out of the house, going towards Amelia who was leaning against a black Range Rover, watching the two of us curiously and suspiciously.
"Yeah, Mi Mi. I don't know what the f**k is going on either." I said in my head.
I slid into the backseat, leaving Amelia to sit in front.
I saw a look pass over Xavier's face, but thought nothing of it, as I closed the door and settled into the comfortable leather seats.
Amelia slid into the passenger seat, glancing back at me with a questioning look, which I shrugged to.
I don't even know this man.
He stood outside for a minute, running his hand through his hair, giving him a sexy disheveled look.
Did I mention how sexy he was?
If I thought Christian was fine, this man took the cake.
He was extremely tall, looking to be around 6"7, which meant I had to crane my head up to look at him, even in heels.
His hair was jet black, similar to his father's own, whereas the rest of the siblings took after their mother with blonde hair.
He had the face of a f*****g Greek God. Ice blue eyes, with a Roman nose, prominent jawline that was covered in scruff, and plump pink lips that looked so soft.
The grey suit he had on did nothing to hide his muscles, and I watched his arms flex as he opened the door, and slid into the driver's seat.
His eyes met his in the review mirror, and I blushed, putting my head down.
He stared at me intensely for a few seconds, before looking away, starting the car and pulling off after his family.
