Chapter 14. Warning glare

1901 Words
Dylan stared at his phone screen, which rang out again, and saw that Rosie was the one calling him. He sighed and picked up Rosie's call, and she asked him, "Hi, babe... I'm calling to know if you have gotten home safely.” “Yes, I have Rosie; thank you,” Dylan replied as he sighed heavily. Rosie noticed that Dylan sounded somehow bored, tiring, and unhappy, and she nervously asked him, “What's the matter, Dy?” Rosie feared that Dylan had gotten to know the truth about her plot on him, and he responded, "Nothing, Rosie, I'm fine. Only that. As I came back home now, Jessica's elder brother was here, and he was fighting with me, and next Jessica fainted, and she's in the hospital now, but she's fine now.” Dylan didn't want to tell Rosie yet about Jessica being pregnant for him too. Rosie replied, “Jessica is just pretending to be sick and doing all that so you won't divorce her DY. What about your lawyer that you said you would contact when you were leaving my house? Have you finally contacted the lawyer?” “No Rosie… I will do that later, but first, let Jessica come out of the hospital, as she has to be fine first before I can divorce her and send her back home to her family house. I don't think you know how brutal her family is, especially her two brothers, who are twins. They can be furious with me for divorcing Jessica in that state. You know, they're very possessive of Jessica, too." “Hmm… The more reason you have to divorce Jessica. Have you told Jessica yet that I'm pregnant for you and carrying your baby? Jessica has to know so that she can leave us, Dylan,” Rosie said. “Hmm…” Dylan sighed heavily before he replied, “I know Rosie... But Jessica is also pregnant with me now. Though I'm not sure if the pregnancy is mine, let's wait for her to recover first before proceeding with the divorce.” Rosie sighed. “Hmm, okay, Dy." She added, “Do take care, Dylan. I will call later to know how you're doing. And know that I love you very much.” Dylan replied, “I love you too, Rosie; bye.” Dylan sighed after the phone call finally ended. He kept his phone down on the side table and heard the sound of a car arriving at his home. Dylan stood up and went outside to check on who had arrived. On getting outside at the frontage of his home, he saw that Bright had arrived with Florence. “Good afternoon, boss,” Bright greeted Dylan as he helped Dylan manage all his affairs, including the company. “Welcome,” Dylan replied to him as he shifted his gaze to stare at Florence. Florence nervously greeted Dylan, “Good afternoon, sir." Florence is fair in complexion, a young lady, and she has grown taller and more sexy than the last time Dylan saw her. Dylan frowned as he saw that Florence had turned chubby, but he quickly shifted his gaze away and told Bright, "It is okay. You can leave us.” Bright replied, "Alright, boss.” Bright didn't bother to ask Dylan what had happened to his face, especially after seeing that Dylan had requested a maid. Bright entered his car and drove out of Dylan's mansion, while Dylan told Florence, “You know what to do in the house, right?” Florence nervously replied again, "No, sir. Is madam not at home?” “No, Jessica is not around, but I am going out now to bring the kids back first. I think you know your former room, right?” Dylan asked Florence as she was staring downward. "Yes, sir,” Florence replied, as she was wearing a long blue gown. “Good. You go in there and arrange your things, then you tidy the kitchen as it's dirty too,” Dylan said. Florence replied, "Alright, sir.” She carried her box of clothes and went into the house, while Dylan left the house and got into his car as he drove out to his children's school. Dylan knew that he had sacked Jessica's former driver, who usually goes to his kids' school to bring Caleb and Nina home with Florence. And he didn't know if he should regret his past action of sacking all their former domestic staff, so he drove ahead to his children's school. Arriving at the private school. It was already closing hour, and most parents were also around with their cars to take their kids home. Dylan parked his silver Lexus Jeep in the school parking lot, as the school has a school bus as well, but he preferred Jessica going to the school to bring Caleb and Nina home. Caleb and Nina were both shocked to see their father arrive at their school, as they were expecting to see their mother. Nina ran into Dylan's arms as she stood beside her school teacher, who was monitoring the parents that were arriving at the private school to take the kids home. The school teacher is a beautiful yellow lady, and she is wearing a white shirt and black pencil skirt. She admired Jessica, but she had wondered why Jessica was using such an old, worn-out car. Jessica is a billionaire daughter, and her husband is mega-rich. Mrs. Clara smiled at Dylan, though she saw that Dylan's face looked a bit swollen, like he got into a fight, but that didn't hide the fact that Dylan is very handsome. “Good afternoon, sir. Are you the one taking your kids home today, as I was expecting their mother to arrive?” Mrs. Clara asked Dylan after he carried Nina up in his arms. Dylan calmly replied, “Yes, Jessica is not around, so I will be the one taking my kids home today.” Dylan didn't want to waste much time there, and Mrs. Clara replied, "Okay, sir, you have to sign here first, then you can leave with your kids.” “Okay,” Dylan collected the pen and signed it before he left for the park with Nina in his arms and Caleb silently walking up to meet him. Caleb wondered where his mother had gone too, as she was the one who brought them to school in the morning, and now his father's face as well looks swollen. Caleb sat in the back seat of the car quietly, and Dylan hooked the seat belt, and also hooked Nina's seat belt too. Nina asked him, “Daddy, what happened to your cheeks?” Dylan smiled and replied, “I went to train on how to fight boxing; do you watch boxing matches?” "No, Daddy,” Nina frowned, as she didn't like to fight. “Good girl, We are going home now, as your mother went to the hospital. Did she tell you both that she's unwell today?” Dylan asked his two children, and he saw that Caleb was unusually silent. "Yes, Daddy,” Nina replied, and Dylan asked Caleb, “What's wrong with you, Caleb?” Nina also looked at Caleb's face to hear his response. Caleb replied, "I'm fine, Dad. When will Mummy be back from the hospital? I hope she's not going to leave us.” Caleb didn't like the mention of the hospital, and Dylan replied, “She will be home today or tomorrow. She's not leaving us.” Dylan saw Caleb sigh in relief, and he shut the car door and got into his driver's seat before he drove out of the school premises. Dylan arrived home and parked his car in the garage. He stepped down from his car and assisted Caleb and Nina, and they went into the house. Caleb and Nina were shocked to see Florence was back. And Caleb rushed up to meet Florence, while Nina shyly stood aside and stared at the young lady who was at her mother's house. Nina knew Florence used to check on her class, but she wasn't so familiar with her. Florence attended their private school the previous year too. “How are you doing, Caleb? Nina?” Florence excitedly hugs Caleb, who rushes to hug her, and she walks up to meet Nina. Caleb replied, "Fine.” “Are you through with tidying up the kitchen?” Dylan asked Florence, and she replied, "Yes, sir.” “Is there anything left for the two of them to eat?” Dylan asked again, and Florence replied, "Yes, sir, there were some soups and rice in the kitchen, so I already warmed it up.” “Okay, I have to go out now and see their mother. Take care of them while I am away,” Dylan said, and he walked up to the center table to take his phone, and he finally left the house. *** Dylan stepped out of the house and called his lawyer on the phone. He informed his lawyer that he wouldn't be able to meet with the lawyer for the divorce agreement. “Okay, Mr. Robinson. I will be eagerly awaiting to see you." The lawyer replied, and Dylan ended the phone call. Dylan got into his car and drove to the hospital to meet with Jessica, and when he arrived at the hospital's private ward, Jessica was inside. Dylan saw that Remy had arrived with Rex. The tension in the private room was high, but Jessica was awake, and she sat on the bed in her blue gown and stared at Dylan as he walked into the ward. Jessica spoke, "Big brother, I have told you both that I'm fine; just leave my husband and me alone.” "Hmm…" Rex hummed as Remy briefed him on the situation at hand. Rex was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt and black trousers, while Remy wore a black suit as he went out to meet with his business partners. They were purely identity twins, and though Remy is the older twin, they learned to share things equally, which is why Jessica also has equal percentage shares in their father's company. Dylan was afraid of the twins, but as Jessica had spoken, he managed to walk into the private ward. He had already arrived, and he couldn't go back home. Rex looked at Jessica and said, “Since your husband, like you claim, is here, I will be leaving you both now, but I don't want to hear stories, sis.” “You wouldn't hear any story, brother,” Jessica assured her elder brothers, while Remy's eyes burned angrily at Dylan. Dylan looked away from the twins as he saw them walk up to meet Jessica, who sat on the hospital bed. Rex kissed Jessica's knuckles, and he told her, "Take care, sister; I will send you some tokens to use to buy some ice cream and vanilla lollipop for yourself.” "Okay, brother Rex, big bro Remy." Jessica called Remy too. He looked at her and said, "I only want you to be fine, sister. Take care, and if the need arises, return home and sign the divorce papers.” Jessica frowned as she heard Remy's last statement to her, and Remy finally left the hospital ward with Rex, not after passing a warning glare at Dylan.
