I was hanging up my clothes inside of my locker. Today had been intense, to say the least. I was feeling drained and my body was aching for a hot shower. Lori was standing next to me, sighing every few seconds.
“What is it?” I asked her as I closed my locker, leaning against it and hoping it would turn into a kingsize bed.
“Too tired to cook, can we order take-out, please?” She whined as she leaned her head against her own locker.
“Agreed, take-out it is!” I nodded, to which we pulled our bodies away from the cold and hard lockers as we made our way out of the hospital.
“So, how is your new case going?” I asked Lori, who was searching for something inside of her purse. “Good, Thank Goddess the patient didn’t get another fever or Andrews would have killed me himself. If everything keeps going OK, she should be going back home tomorrow.” I nodded, feeling happy that Lori had had a good day.
“How about you? Andrews gave you a hard time today?” I shook my head as I wrapped my arm around Lori’s, making us walk together towards our home.
“I need to take care of a guy who needs a new heart, do all sorts of tests, to find him a good donor. I think he will be in the hospital for a while.” Lori raised her eyebrows as she nodded her head.
“Cool! Although pulling out that branch out of that warrior’s arm the other day, it will still be my favorite case up to this day.” I grinned as I looked at my friend.
“You are awful, you know that?” To which we both started laughing.
We made it into our condo. Lori jumped under the shower while I ordered take-out pasta. When she was done, I took a shower myself. The hot water soothed my aching muscles and I washed my hair. For some odd reason, I always thought that hospitals had this smell. I couldn’t place it, but once I was home I always felt the urge to wash it all away. After my shower, I dried myself and jumped into black leggings and a hoody. I needed to relax right now and comfy clothes and comfort food always seemed to do the trick. I walked into our small living room/ kitchen, seeing Lori pull out a bottle of white wine from the fridge. She took two cups and walked over as she placed everything down on our small table in front of the TV.
“Wow, fancy dinner, not even using wine glasses?” I grinned as I looked up at Lori, her black curls were still wet and hanging flat against her head, she rolled her eyes as she jumped onto the sofa, letting out a big sigh.
“Do you know how hard wine glasses are to clean? Take a normal glass or a cup and thank me for taking one for you as well. If this week turns out to be even more intense than it already was today, I will be drinking straight out of the bottle by the time we hit Wednesday.”
I giggled as I took the bottle and filled up our two cups, maybe a bit too much. The bell rang and Lori crawled up, going to the door where she greeted the delivery boy. She took our order and paid the man as she closed the door behind her. Moaning hard as she leaned down to smell our order in her hands. “Nothing will warm my heart as much as pasta Alfredo.” She hummed as she walked over to take a seat with me. We ate our dinner in front of the TV, while watching a show about two handsome boys who wandered around the States, looking for supernatural creatures, and killing them. I didn’t know how I felt about that last part.
“ OK,” Lori hummed while she still had her mouth filled with pasta,
“If you could choose, the big one with the longer hair, or the smaller one with the deep voice, which one would you pick?” I smiled as I looked at the TV,
“the smaller one, without a doubt!” Lori laughed hard as she picked up her cup and took a good gulp. “Really? I always like my men to be tall.” I looked at her as I grinned.
“Thank God we don’t get along in our choice of men. That could have gotten very awkward.” Lori stuck out her tongue at me, before she attacked her pasta again.
I looked down at my plate, I felt full. There was still one third of the portion left. I decided to place it in the fridge. Maybe I could heat it back up tomorrow. Throwing out a fine lasagna would be such a waste. I sat myself back down, seeing that the two hotties on TV were killing off a vampire.
“Hey Lori, what do you know about the Alpha of this pack?” Lori shrugged, her eyes never leaving the screen, especially when the big one was fighting.
“Uhm, he’s around our parents' age. He’s obviously pretty good at what he does, or he wouldn’t be able to lead such a big pack and invite wolves from neighboring packs on his land. Why do you ask?” I shook my head before taking a sip of my wine.
“Does he have kids?”
Lori took her eyes from the TV screen to look at me.
“Why do you have a sudden interest in the Alpha? He has a Luna, you know?” I giggled at my best friend before I looked back at the screen and watched the two hotties fight some more. I pressed my lips together, realizing that the smaller guy actually reminded me of handsommy in the hospital today. He had the same hairstyle, face shape with a strong jaw line, although handsommy’s eyes were much prettier, being so blue and booming with playfulness. I couldn’t know about his clothes, since he was sitting in a bed with blankets all over him when I had seen him.
I almost jumped out of my skin, once my cellphone started to vibrate, letting me know I had a text message. I fished my cell phone out of my pants pocket to see who was sending me.
- Hey E, how was your day? Haven’t heard from you in a while. Julian.-
I sighed as my fingers started to text him back.
-Busy day in the hospital, was about to get ready for bed. Tired as hell.-
I saw three little dots moving on the corner of my screen, letting me know that Julian was already typing back to me.
-How about dinner tomorrow? I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages. Please? -
I rolled my eyes at myself. For some reason, I really wasn’t feeling the going out part right now.
-Uhm, OK, but I can’t be back too late. I have an important patient I need to look at.-
Again, three dots. For God's sake, doesn’t this man have a life?
-Is that patient more important than me? :-p -
I sighed, throwing my cellphone on the table. I stood up, seeing that the TV show was done. I looked over, seeing Lori was knocked out as she had fallen asleep on the couch. I quickly ran to the bathroom, taking off my make up. Once I was ready for the night, I walked back into the living room, scooping up my phone as I walked inside my bedroom, seeing I already had a few missed messages.
-Oh, so now you are giving me the silent treatment?-
-E, come on, I was just joking!-
-babe please answer me, let me pick you up at 7 tomorrow, OK? I promise I’ll behave.-
I sighed as I shook my head at myself.
-Fine. 7 it is.-
I pressed send and decided to just shut off my phone for the night. Placing it on my dresser, before my body crashed into my bed, where I almost immediately fell asleep, dreaming about blue eyes, smirks and a whole lot of handsommy.
