Reina considered herself a lucky person. All her life she always got anything she wanted, either through hard work or whining about it to her brother. Life had been fairly easy for her and if other people hadn't had an instant dislike for her, she would have had a lot of friends, maybe experienced a normal childhood. But parents had kept their children away from her. Their reason? They didn't like her. According to them, she was a bad girl. If asked to explain in what way she was bad, they had nothing to say. All of a sudden they were in a hurry to do something they'd forgotten.
She had always wondered about that. Why her? Even though she didn't have parents, she had Raye. That was no reason for people to not like her. Other kids had one parent or were raised by their grandparents so that hadn't been a valid reason. Then was it her? Did she have the kind of personality anyone would dislike at first sight? Those kinds of thoughts had plagued her when she was young. For an entire week she had tried to figure out what was wrong with her and she couldn't find a thing she'd decided everyone else had a problem. Her final decision had been to ignore anyone who didn't like her. That was how she'd lived her life without longing for friends.
But all of a sudden this beautiful woman walks in the coffee shop and offers her job because she thought her looks were perfect for their brand. Reina knew K cosmetics alright. Even in small towns their products were well known. High school girls loved to brag about their new lipgloss or lipstick especially if they'd bought it from the most famous cosmetics company. Cheap knock off or not their products were too of the tier. And a stranger had just given her the opportunity to become one of their faces. If that wasn't luck then she didn't know what to call. Practically skipping to the manager's office, she knocked once then pushed the door open.
"The next time you knock you should wait for a reply before coming in Reina"
She shrugged "There won't be a next time. I'm quitting" the look on his face couldn't be described as shock but Reina was going to call it that. Exaggeration was her forte. In her head she wanted him to be shocked about her leaving so that was exactly what he was going to be.
"You just started your job a few hours ago"
"Exactly. I can't believe it either. You know Rena? The K goddess?"
He wrinkled his eyebrows "Everyone knows who she is"
"She's outside drinking coffee while waiting for me. She just offered me a job. Can you believe it?"
"No, not really. Do you know her?"
"I just met her"
"Then why would she offer you a job?"
"Who cares?" Reina threw her hands up "I get to have more money and I can buy whatever I want. That's all that matters. Thank you for giving me my first job in the city. Since I only worked for a day, I won't ask for p*****t. Consider it your compensation for my quitting on the first day of the job. Bye" she was out of his office so fast he didn't have a chance to complain about her hasty decision.
She made a stop at the employees changing room where she'd locked her bag in one of the lockers then left as fast as she went in. Reina didn't bother to bid her co-workers goodbye. She hadn't formed any attachments to anyone seeing as she hadn't been there long. She was heading to where Rena was when she suddenly stopped. There was a certain chill in the shop. One that hadn't been there before. The hairs on her neck stood, alerting her of oncoming danger even though nothing was out place. She tensed, sweeping her gaze over the enclosed space. Her eyes landed on Rena's table and she stopped, instincts telling her that was where the danger lay. The other woman noticed her, blinked, smiled then waved her over. And just like that the chilliness was gone, everything going back to how it was.
Reina shook her head wondering what Raye would think about that. If she ended up telling him. Would he dismiss her claims the way he had before? Or would he listen this time? But most of all was she imagining things again? Being the carefree person she was, that experience was forgotten before she even reached where Rena was. If nothing harmed her then it wasn't important. She could walk through a burning building and not care as long as she remained untouched.
"Ready? I thought we would discuss the details at the office" Rena said in that smooth voice. She was everything Reina wanted to be. Cool, dignified, controlled. Everything she said was thought through. Unlike her big mouth. Whatever had prompted her to ask that weirdo if his wishes also came true? He must think she was crazy. By the time she came back out everyone had left including Raye. Although he'd left a message letting her know he was leaving. As for the weirdo, she speculated as to whether she would see him again or not. Did she want to see him? He was handsome...
"Sure. The sooner we can get started the better" she answered, cutting that thought short. Handsome or not he was strange and her life was peculiar enough. She didn't need anyone to add to it.
On their way to the office she asked a lot of questions. What was she supposed to do as an ambassador. Would she get a chance to go outside the country or maybe visit other cities. Would her face be plastered everywhere like Rena's? Would she come out on TV? And if so, did that mean she was going to be a celebrity who needed bodyguards? Was she going to be able to take any cosmetics she wanted or did she have to buy them? Some of them were too expensive for her so she hoped her salary would be enough for her to afford them. Did she have to learn how cosmetics were made? Her questions were endless. Lucky for her, Rena was patient. She answered every question politely, explaining to her what her duties were.
The most important thing was to always be indifferent. She couldn't talk back to people or even raise her voice. Especially rude reporters. There were people out there who wanted to take down K cosmetics and they would do anything. From sending reporters to get under their skin to claiming their products had faults. Whatever happened, Reina was to stay calm. Being a representative meant knowing how to control one's emotions. For a second she wondered if Raye had sent her. Everything she said sounded like the song her brother had been singing to her ever since she was a child. The only difference was that this time she would get paid to act that way. Was it worth it?
From her point of view, it was. Her dream was to have a lot of money so she could have anything she wanted whenever she wanted it. While Raye hadn't denied her anything, he'd limited what she got. Telling her people couldn't simply have everything they wanted. That was nature's law. She'd told him how she planned on breaking that stupid law countless times. Now she was going to. Even if it killed her, she would be the epitome of elegance. Maybe one day she would succeed Rena's position as the K goddess. That thought made her giddy. A goddess. What woman out there didn't aspire to be a goddess?
"We're here" Rena's voice broke through her thoughts. She looked outside the window. Her new life was about to begin.
"I'm so excited"
"Remember what I said about keeping your emotions under control"
"Done" Reina said putting on a poker face "I'll show you how great I am" at that, the other woman scoffed "I'm not joking. I can be really good if I put my mind to it. Just wait and see"
"I have no doubt you'll be perfect for this job Reina. That was the reason I recruited you. Now with your head held up high, step out of the car and show everyone who you are"
"Yes ma'am" she stepped out therefore didn't see Rena's expression. She was way too excited that even if she'd seen it she wouldn't have cared. The expression don't care was her personified.

Stupid humans. They were still a long way from differentiating honesty and lies. The perfect prey for his kind. Soon they would take over and not even the High God could stop them. Oh wait, the High God had disappeared. So had his sister. The only thing standing in their way was Ahrein and he too wouldn't be able to stop them. They were going to dominate the heavens and the earth. Let whoever had the balls try to get in their way.

Eek, I'm not even sure what's going on. Like I mentioned earlier, this book is a working progress so ideas keep popping up. If you have any, I'd like to hear them.
So I'm pretty sure you've noticed how short the chapters are. Normally I write a bit longer ones. Should I continue with short or switch to long? Y'all tell me.
