Blake and Parker had been friends since middle school. Alpha and Beta of “The Blue Lake Pack”. They had always trained together, running around the pack as pups, competing against each other. Blake, being an Alpha, could always win their physical competitions with his strength, whilst his Beta Parker was always one step ahead mentally, when it came to tests involving strategy. Since they had inherited the pack they often came away from the packhouse and walked the borders together with their head warrior, checking for breaches or signs of rogue activity. "The Crystal Clear Pack” borders were aligned with theirs, and as a neighbouring pack, they should have been allies, but instead, they were neutral. "Crystal Clear"had a bad reputation and were known for not treating pack members fairly. Not paying the Omegas fairly and refusing to train she wolves. Their warriors were rumoured to be ruthless and the Alpha was involved with Dark Magic, which is not something that interested them.
Blake was fair, loyal, and fiercely protective of all his pack members. Parker was his beta and his best friend, he was always honest and respected the way he led their pack. Blake was easily the largest alpha he had ever seen as a wolf his animal form was larger, stronger, and faster than most. The males from his bloodline always received a special ability from the Moon goddess when they marked their mate. Blake was yet to meet his mate and was 21(which is older than most wolves when they meet their mate). At age 18 all wolf shifters were able to recognise their animal counterpart the other part of their sole, their fated mate.
As they approached the border, they saw a woman emerging from the lake in the distance. The smell of sulphur and smouldering wood enveloped Blakes nostrils, and he froze, admiring her grace and the way she seemed content by the nature around her. She quickly dressed and started to walk towards the human town. Leaving Blake staring at her from a distance. Just as Parker was trying to break Blakes gaze, the woman fell to the ground. Quick as a flash, Blake was across the field. He scooped up the young she wolf bridal style and had started to run back toward his pack hospital. Parker waisted no time in running behind his friend, eager to see why he had reacted in such a way to a she wolf he didn't know. He knew stepping onto another Alpha's land without a previous agreement in place was forbidden. What was his Alpha thinking, and to act so recklessly was not like him. Slowly, a smile crept across Parkers face it could only mean one thing. Then he heard the words to confirm his suspension. "Mate," Blake said quietly and dashed through the hospital foyer, mindlinking the pack doctor.
The doctor came rushing out with a gurney and a number of nurses, who immediately took them to a private room. Hooking a heart monitor and putting in an IV into her arm. The doctor could then read her vitals, a number of blood samples were taken by the nurses, and the doctor observed her ready to tell his findings to Alpha Blake.
Dr Janssen had known Blake and Parker since they were pups. He had been there when they were born. He knew just by looking at the distressed look on Blakes face. It could only mean this girl was his mate and their packs, Luna. He told Blake and Parker to sit down and he sat beside them. "Alpha Blake, I can only assume that this lovely young lady is your mate and our Luna". Blake nodded his head, unable to speak until the Dr confirmed she was ok. Dr. Janssen, is she going to be ok Parker asked. Yes young Beta she is just dehydrated, and from the looks of her malnutritioned, she should recover well in a few days. He then lent forward and placed his hand on Blakes shoulder. Alpha she has clearly been through an ordeal. I will take the very best care of her. We have nurses to watch her around the clock. She is precious to us all.
Blake could no longer control his wolf, a huge growl ripped through the building, shaking all the fixtures and fittings in the pack house.
Who was this she wolf that had captivated him so, and why had he not found her at any interpack meetings or events before. She had been right under his nose this whole time and suffering too. Why didn't he find her sooner? Who could treat her so badly? He didn't know, but he decided that he would find out if it was the last thing he did. No one would touch his mate again.
Mia woke to hear a beeping sound. Her throat felt so sore and dry. She tried to open her eyes, but the room was so bright, she forced them to shut again. Slowly trying to sit, she forced her eyes open again, taking in her surroundings. She was no longer in the forest, the room was full of medical supplies, and she could smell disinfectant and bleach and wait what was that she wrinkled up her nose and sniffed deeply. The smell, again, the smell she had scented by the brooke. It was stronger this time, the smell of ginger and a fresh blend of aromatic spices. Looking across the room, she saw a man asleep on a reclining sofa in the corner of the room. He peaked her curiosity. She had never smelt something so delicious. His shoulders held his frame perfectly. He was easily 6 feet tall, his unshaven face gave him a rugged edge. His muscular arms were shown off to perfection underneath the Sports T Shirt. The site of him on the hospital sofa with his legs hanging off made her giggle inwardly. Just at that moment, a nurse came in. She had auburn hair and the palest of skin. She had kind eyes and poured a drink of water from the pitcher on the table and placed in a straw. "Take small sips dear, you've had quite a day." The nurse smiled as Mia sipped the water, offering words of encouragement as Mia finished the glass. Mia pointed to the sleeping man on the sofa panic showing in her eyes. "Alpha Blake dear, he means you no harm, nor could he ever for he is your goddess given mate and you are his one true Luna." Mia couldn't contain her fear as Alpha Blake awoke and started to walk towards them. She started pulling at the IV drip and trying to stand up, only for Blake to sweep her up as she fell from the hospital bed. "This is becoming a habit for us he said. It was then that Mia's mind raced back through the last 24 hours.
Suddenly remembering what had happened and how she had finally escaped her prison. Blakes scent surrounded her like the safety blanket that his arms were quickly becoming. Could he really "mean her no harm?" She wanted to trust him. Her instincts had never been wrong, but her past had made her not trust people, especially men and Alpha wolves. She was too tired and weak to refuse help, so she decided to just go with it for now, build her strength, and reassess her situation. For now, she was warm, had a bed, water by her bed, and some soup had just been delivered with freshly baked bread. Her stomach rumbled, which made Blake and the nurse giggle. "At least eat, the Nurse said. We will leave you to eat. Here is a buzzer if you need help. My name is Violet, and I'll be back soon."
Blake started walking toward the door. He looked to be having an internal battle with his inner wolf, she thought as he growled as the door closed behind him. Alphas , in particular, were stubborn, and he had to be convinced to leave his mate after only just finding her. Still, when Violet scolded him outside the door, he didn't overrule or disagree with her. Medical staff had a more authoritative aura than average pack members, especially as Nurse Violet was a Gamma female. who was also a fierce warrior and matted to his younger brother Bryn.
